Abstract

Goldfish belong to the omnivorous group and are influenced by the factor of giving lemna and have a specific development rate of 2.00%. one of the obstacles to fish farming is the quality of feed that does not match what is needed for fish so that it affects the food chain in fish. This study aims to determine the feeding of different natural foods (Silkworms, Cladocera, and Magot) on the growth and survival of goldfish (Cyprinus carpio). This research was conducted at the Tatelu Freshwater Aquaculture Center (BPBAT), Dimembe District, North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province, on January 19, 2023. North Sulawesi, from January 19, 2023 to March 02, 2023. The research method was experimental using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications, the treatment consisted of MAS FISH (Cyprinus carpio) fed with natural food Silkworm (Tubifex sp), Cladocera, and Magot (Hermatila illuces). The fry used were 3-5 cm in size and reared in a 60x40x40 cm aquarium with a density of 20 fish/48 L of water for 42 days of rearing. The results showed that the growth rate and survival rate of goldfish (Cyprinus carpio) fry fed with natural food Silkworm (Tubifex sp), Cladocera, and Magot (Hermatila illuces).

Abstract

The cultivation of tubifex worms (Tubifex sp) traditionally utilizes nearly 100% organic materials as the growing medium; however, this approach has not yielded optimal biomass compared to the use of fermented organic materials. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of fermented media in enhancing the population density and biomass of tubifex worms. The study employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatments and four replications. The treatments consisted of different combinations of fermented organic materials, specifically cow manure and tofu waste, with varying proportions in each treatment. Measurements of population density and biomass were conducted after a specified rearing period. The cultivation was carried out in locations proximate to water sources to ensure optimal environmental conditions. The findings indicated that the use of combined fermented organic materials significantly affected the population density and biomass of tubifex worms (Tubifex sp). Treatment A demonstrated the highest population density and biomass, reaching 44.675 grams. These results suggest that fermented media provide a more conducive environment for the growth and reproduction of tubifex worms compared to non-fermented media. The application of fermented media composed of cow manure and tofu waste effectively enhances the population density and biomass of tubifex worms (Tubifex sp). Additionally, conducting cultivation near reliable water sources is crucial for supporting optimal worm growth. Future cultivation practices are recommended to incorporate fermented media and ensure adequate water availability to achieve maximum yield.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of papaya (Carica papaya) seed flour at varying doses on the growth and survival of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) seed. The study was conducted over 30 days at the Andalas Fish Seed Center (BBI), Kota Tengah, Gorontalo Province. The research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The doses of papaya seed flour administered were P1 (control), P2 (150 g), P3 (200 g), and P4 (250 g). Observational parameters included weight growth, length growth, and survival rate. Data analysis was performed using statistical test; analysis of variance (ANOVA) to assess differences among treatments, followed by post-hoc tests for detailed comparison of each treatment. The findings indicate that the addition of papaya seed flour to the feed improved the weight growth rate of Nile tilapia, with the best result of 1.24% observed in treatment P3, while the best length growth of 1.06% was found in treatment P4, and the highest survival rate of 80% was achieved in treatment P3, compared to the lowest survival rate of 56% in treatment P1. However, the addition of papaya seed flour to the feed did not have a significant effect on length and weight growth but had a significant impact on survival rate. During the study, water quality parameters were recorded with temperatures ranging from 26-27°C, pH levels between 6.0-7.1 ppm, and dissolved oxygen (DO) levels between 5.3-5.5 mg/L.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian Probiotik Minaraya dengan dosis berbeda terhadap pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup benih udang vaname (Litopenaeus vannamei). Penelitian dilaksanakan di Balai Perikanan Budidaya Laut dan Payau Lamu selama 30 hari. Metode yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 3 kali ulangan. Jumlah sampel adalah 12 dengan dosis yang bervariasi. Benih udang yang digunakan berjenis Vaname (PL 10), sedangkan pakan yang digunakan adalah PF 1000. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pertumbuhan panjang dan berat tertinggi dihasilkan oleh perlakuan D dengan dosis yaitu 16,50 mm dan 0.090 gr. Kelangsungan hidup tertinggi pada perlakuan C dengan dosis 10 ml/kg sebesar 78,00%. Pemberian probiotik dengan dosis berbeda memberikan pengaruh signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan panjang, berat, dan kelangsungan hidup benih udang (p < 0,05). Namun, pemberian probiotik tidak mempengaruhi kualitas air secara signifikan (p > 0,05). Sehingga penambahan probiotik secara optimal dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup udang vannamei, tetapi tidak dapat meningkatkan kualitas air.

Abstract

This study employs a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design, specifically the one-group pre-test and post-test. The sample of the study consists of IX.1 class students at SMP Muhammadiyah Tilango, selected due to their low vocabulary skills based on interviews with teachers and researchers. The research aims to analyze the effect of problem-based learning on improving students' vocabulary in narrative texts. Data were collected through vocabulary tests administered before and after the intervention. In addition, observations were conducted from the first to the fourth meeting to assess the effectiveness of the method. The results show a significant improvement in the vocabulary skills of the experimental class compared to the control class, which did not receive any treatment. Data analysis using the t-test reveals that the calculated t-value of 4.108 is greater than the t-table value of 2.119, leading to the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Ha) and the rejection of the null hypothesis (Ho). Thus, it can be concluded that problem-based learning effectively improves students' vocabulary skills. This study implies that the problem-based learning method can be implemented as an effective approach to enhance vocabulary learning in secondary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the types of fish that have been identified, the value of species composition, diversity index, uniformity index, and dominance index in the seagrass ecosystem of Kayubulan Village, Batudaa Pantai District, Gorontalo Regency. This research was conducted from December 2021 to January 2022. This study was conducted with 4 sampling times consisting of 3 stations, each station consisting of 3 transects using drift gill net fishing gear with a net length of 17 m, a net height of 1 m, a mesh size of 2.5 inches, and also measuring seawater quality parameters which were carried out directly at the research site shortly before fish sampling. The results showed that 229 fish individuals consisting of 48 species and 21 families were found. Acanthurus auranticavus has the highest composition of 27.51%. The diversity index value (H') was 3.0203, indicating high diversity. The uniformity index (E) was 0.7802, indicating stable uniformity. Aquatic environmental conditions, such as temperature, pH, and salinity support the survival of fish in the area.

Abstract

Vannamei shrimp farming requires the proper application of technology and management to enhance productivity and sustainability. This study aims to analyze the application of the best technology and management practices by vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) farmers in Mananggu District, Boalemo Regency, Gorontalo Province. The methods used include observation and interviews with 8 out of 11 farmers, with data collected through questionnaires focusing on six indicators of Best Management Practices (BMP): pond preparation, feed management, seed management, water quality management, pest and disease monitoring, and harvesting. The results show that 7 out of 8 farmers implemented technology during the pond preparation stage. Education level also influenced practices, with 62.5% of respondents having higher education (high school to bachelor's degree). The application of BMP plays a crucial role in improving the efficiency of vannamei shrimp farming in this area.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the teaching models frequently used by teachers and how teachers motivate students to learn English at SMP Negeri 4 Bolaang Mongondow Utara. The research method is qualitative, employing a data collection approach that includes observation, interviews, and documentation. The participants in this study were one English teacher and 28 eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Bolaang Mongondow Utara. The data analysis conducted by Satori and Komariah involves data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that the contextual teaching and learning (CTL) strategies employed by the instructor at this school enhance student participation and enthusiasm for learning. Student motivation was categorized into three levels: low, medium, and high. Students with low motivation complained about the amount of memorization and assignments required and struggled to understand the material. They were less engaged in class and expressed dissatisfaction with their educational experiences. Despite challenges such as language difficulties and pronunciation issues, students with medium motivation maintained a relatively high level of motivation. They stayed engaged in class, particularly during ice-breaking activities that helped keep them motivated. Highly motivated students enjoyed the learning process and were driven by an engaging learning environment and admiration for their teacher. Students responded positively to educational strategies that could be applied to their lives.

Abstract

Enola Holmes 2, a film set in the Victorian era, portrays these inequalities through its female characters who face an environment full of gender-based restrictions. This article focuses on three main characters—Enola Holmes, Sarah Chapman, and Mira Troy—analyzing how their experiences reflect various aspects of gender inequality that have persisted over time. This study analyzes gender inequality in Jack Thorne’s Enola Holmes 2 through the lens of Fakih’s theory, which identifies five manifestations of gender inequality: stereotypes, subordination, marginalization, violence, and double workload. The research applies feminist literary criticism, focusing on the socio-economic conditions and experiences of women, while also linking the findings to the reality of women in the Victorian era. Using a qualitative method, the study examines the dialogues and interactions of the three female characters in the film—Enola Holmes, Sarah Chapman, and Mira Troy—as representations of women who experience gender inequality. From the analysis, 16 instances of gender inequality were identified, illustrating the challenges faced by women during both the Victorian era and in the context of the film’s narrative. These findings reveal how gender inequality persists and is reflected in the experiences of the female characters, highlighting its continued relevance in both historical and modern contexts.

Abstract

Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is a widely utilized fish species known for its high nutritional value, including protein, fat, vitamins, and minerals. However, feed efficiency remains a significant challenge in Nile tilapia farming. Enhancing feed quality through the addition of herbal extracts, such as turmeric, ginger, and galangal, is a promising solution. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of herbal extract supplementation in feed on the growth in length and weight of Nile tilapia. The research was conducted over 30 days, with measurements of fish length and weight taken every ten days. Four treatments were applied: A (control), B (6 g/kg feed of ginger extract), C (6 g/kg feed of turmeric extract), and D (6 g/kg feed of galangal extract). The results showed that the addition of herbal extracts improved the growth performance of Nile tilapia. Treatment C (turmeric extract) exhibited the highest growth in length (1.01 cm) and the highest absolute weight gain (1.49 g). In conclusion, turmeric extract supplementation demonstrated the most significant impact on enhancing the growth in length and weight of Nile tilapia, making it a viable alternative to improve feed efficiency in aquaculture.
