Abstract

This descriptive research conducted with 25 children under purposive sampling to obtain an overview of expanatory style of children with leukemia in the Foundation X Bandung. Measurement instrument is a modification of the Children's Attributional Style Questionnaire (CASQ) by Seligman (1990) which consists of 48 items forced choice. Explanatory style research showed that 60% respondents have a pessimistic, and the rest have an optimistic. There is a link between children's understanding of their significant person’s explanatory style, criticism from parents or the trustees, their crisis experience, as well as the stage of suffering from leukemia with the children with leukemia’s explanatory style. This research suggested further research with more sample sizes about children’s explanatory style in order to make normative constraints, also further investigate the factors that affect explanatory style and dimensions. It is also suggested that management of the Foundation X to design interventions that can improve children's explanatory style.

Abstract

AbstractThis study aimed to determine the role of academic self-concept in mediating the relationship between self-regulation learning and commitment to career choice in high school students. This research focuses on the dimensions of vocational exploration and commitment, namely openness to explore career choices before committing to a particular career choice. This research uses quantitative approach with 315 students of high school students of X-XI class. Measurement of commitment to career choice is done by measuring tool Commitment to Career Choices Scale sub scale vocational exploraton and commitment. Measurement of self-regulation in learning using Motivated Strategies and Learning Questionnaire, while the academic self-concept was measured using the Academic Self Concept for Adolescents Scale. The result shows that self regulation in learning affects commitment to career choice through academic self concept. The self-regulated skills in applied learning consistently will shape the positive academic self-concept and impact on the increased commitment to career choice among high school students.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran konsep diri akademik dalam memediasi hubungan antara regulasi diri dalam belajar dan komitmen terhadap pilihan karier pada siswa SMA. Penelitian ini memfokuskan pada salah satu dimensi dari komitmen terhadap pilihan karier, yaitu dimensi vocational exploration and commitment (VEC). Penelitian ini meng­gunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan partisipan penelitian berjumlah 315 orang siswa SMA kelas X-XI.  Pengukuran komitmen terhadap pilihan karier dilakukan dengan alat ukur Commitment to Career Choices Scale sub skala vocational exploration and commitment. Pengukuran regulasi diri dalam belajar menggunakan Motivated Strategies and Learning Questionnaire, sedangkan konsep diri akademik diukur dengan menggunakan Academic Self Concept for Adolescents Scale. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa regulasi diri dalam belajar memengaruhi komitmen terhadap pilihan karier melalui konsep diri akademik. Keterampilan regulasi diri dalam belajar yang diterapkan dengan konsisten akan membentuk konsep diri akademik yang positif dan berdampak pada meningkatnya komitmen terhadap pilihan karier dimensi vocational exploration and commitment pada siswa SMA.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe the student’s motivation in participating in student organizations at Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani. This study uses self-determination theory to explain the motivation of students to involve in student organizations. Self-determination theory explained that human motivations were important sources in the development of personality and self-regulation. The motivation involved the reasons and the purposes in performing an action. Motivation moves from extrinsic motivations to intrinsic motivations. The method of this study was quantitative descriptive research. Participant of this research were college students who participating in students organizations. The result showed that most of the students participated in student organizations had integration extrinsic motivation. Students involved in the student organizations because they interested and it gived them some benefits. Draw the benefits in students organizations become the majority reasons of the students in participating in the student organizations.

Abstract

Intellectual disability is deficits in intellectual functions, adaptive functions, and these deficits occure during the developmental period (before the age of eighteen). Emotion regulation related to the functions and become the problems for children with mild intellectual disability. Emotion regulation is individual’s ability to refrain himself from improper behavior concerning negative and positive emotions that he feels, to manage himself so that he does not depend on his mood condition, to calm down himself when strong emotion arises, and to focus his attention when strong emotion appears. Emotion regulation is extremely needed for adaptation in maintaining relations with other people. The one of interventions that can be used to handle emotion regulation problem for children with intellectual disability is by giving emotion regulation skills system training. This research uses single subject design. The result of this research shows that emotion regulation skills system training gives positive impacts on cognitive and behavior aspects of the subject. The application of these skills in daily life is related to the roles of people around the subject who can understand how to apply the skills and remind the subject

Abstract

Statistics as a tool in Psychology often being considered as difficult by students. This research aimed to examine effectiveness of comic as learning tool to improve Statistics achievement. Participants of this research were thirty undergraduate students and divided into three groups, Experiment (receive Statistics comic as treatment), Control (no treatment), and Comparison (receive conventional material). The effectiveness of comic were showed in changes in Statistics achievement test results (between group experimental design). The result showed significant changes on each group before and after learning. Experiment Group exhibited most impactful change that evidenced can improve students’ achievement in Statistics.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the influence of hardiness personality on cheating behavior through self-efficacy. Sample of study consist of 319 students of a high school. The instrument used is hardiness scale from Creed, Conlon, and Dhaliwal (2013), cheating behavior questionnaire which is adopted from Saddam (2016), and self-efficacy question­naire from Schwarzel and Jarusalem (1995). This study use quantitative method with path analysis to find out cause-effect relation and involve self-efficacy variable as mediator variable. The results of study is significant negative influence of hardi­ness personality on cheating behavior,found significant influence of hardiness personality on self-efficacy, and Self-efficacy variable statistically can become significant mediator variable for hardiness personality toward cehating behavior. Therefore, hardiness personality becocme one contribution to influence students’ behavior in doing all tasks assigned and self-efficacy possessed also can contribute to students to be confident in finishing the tasks assigned at school.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the influence of emotional intelligence and communication satisfaction of organizational citizenship behavior of employees. This research used quan­ti­ta­­tive approach with correlational methods. The participants of this research was 300 employees in Bandung. The instruments were emotional intelligence (Goleman that modified by Muta’asifah (2013), communication satisfaction (Downs and Hazen, 1977), and organizational citizenship behavior (Kumar and Shah, 2015). The analysis of this research was multiple linier regression analysis. The result of this research showed that there is a effect of emotional intelligence and communication satisfaction on organiza­tional citizenship behavior of employees in Bandung. In order to improve the aspects of this research that are still lacking, it is necessary to conduct training and counseling on employees.

Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan alat ukur sikap, secara spesifik pengukuran sikap implisit terhadap perilaku berwirausaha menggunakan metode Implicit Association Test (IAT) secara valid dan reliabel. Dunia perkuliahan memegang peran penting dalam menyiapkan lulusan berkualitas yang dapat berkompetisi dalam dunia wirausaha. Penelitian ini melibatkan 40 orang partisipan. Partisipan dalam penelitian adalah mahasiswa aktif yang berkuliah di Universitas Katolik Indonesia Atma Jaya Jakarta dengan metode convenience sampling. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian validitas diskriminan, diperoleh hasil bahwa terdapat korelasi negatif (-0,266) dengan hasil signifikan 0,97 dengan alat ukur depresi. IAT juga memperoleh hasil koefisien reliabilitas sebesar 0,73 dengan menggunakan metode split-half. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa Alat Ukur Sikap terhadap Perilaku Berwirausaha merupakan alat ukur yang valid berdasarkan pengujian validitas diskriminan. Setelah itu, kami memberikan rekomendasi untuk penelitian serupa di masa mendatang.
