Abstract

This research was to find out (1) types of code-mixing and (2) dominant code-mixing level on Pak Ndul’s YouTube video channel. Findings of this research were divided into two parts – types and levels of code-mixing. The types consist of outer and inner utterances revealing 40 and 38 of 51% and 49 % respectively. Regarding levels, the highest percentage of the code-mixing level categories is word level by 54 %, whereas baster and idiom level categories share the lowest percentage on 2.40 %.  Keywords: Code-mixing, Qualitative approach, Percentage

Abstract

Though Bahasa becomes the second language in Indonesia, some lower class students of primary school face difficulties in compiling sentences into short texts. The present study aims to design a SeW – Sentence Writing quartet card for assisting the Grade 2 students of primary school in making short texts. The SeW quartet card was designed by following the design thinking steps namely empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. This was designed by adopting the concept of quartet card game and pictoral card games which the students are familiar with. The study has not been tested to the real students, however, the product has been successfully tested to a younger child as well as the group of Grade 2 teachers in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Keywords: design thinking, SeW quartet card, short text, Bahasa

Abstract

School is the place where younger generations are educated both intellectually and characteristically. Through schooling, students are projected to able to develop their potential so that they are capable of living independently in society and pursue higher education. To achieve this objective, students are required to establish, among others, the character of discipline and responsibility since both knowledge transfer and character building are inseparable in teaching-learning processes. During the pandemic, however, the teaching-learning process is facing a new challenge by which both teachers and students must carry the process through online courses. Alternatively, the character of discipline and responsibility can be introduced to students through procedure texts. Procedure text is a type of text whose purpose is to instruct in how to do something through a sequence of steps. Procedure text requires students to ‘get something done’ by the mean of strictly following the steps prescribed in the text. This qualification demand students performing the character of discipline and responsibility so that the goal could be achieved accordingly. Moreover, the teacher are to build the character of discipline and responsibility from an early age. Students' discipline and responsibility improvement necessitate students' awareness as well as both parents' and teachers’ guidance.

Abstract

The study aims to explore the pre-service chemistry teacher ability in constructing Content Representation (CoRe) on electrochemistry based context. This research adopted an instrumental case study. A total of 20 pre-service chemistry teacher enrolled on Curriculum course were the subject of this research. The data of pre-service chemistry teacher ability in constructing CoRe were collected according to the document which consist a questions on pedagogical aspect. There were 9 indicators were used as a references to explored the pre-service chemistry teacher ability in constructing CoRe. The data of pre-service chemistry teacher ability in constructing CoRe were analysed according to descriptive quantity technique by classifying the mean score obtained into five categories from very good to very poor. The result of this study showed that the pre-service chemistry teacher ability in constructing CoRe were pretty good, thus it can be concluded that pre-service chemistry teacher were ready to conducted a quality chemistry learning. The pre-service chemistry teacher in the future is expected applying CoRe in every learning to promote students’ chemistry meaningful learning.
