Abstract

Learning Mathematics should be given to all children as a foundation for logical thinking, analytical, systematic, critical, andcreative, as well as the ability to cooperate. Creativity is essentially a person's ability to give birth to something new in the formof ideas and real work in the form of new works as well as a combination of things that already exist. Creativity in mathematicsknown as creative thinking. Learning Mind Map is a learning technique that utilizes the entire record of the brain by usingvisual images and other graphical infrastructure to form an impression of the more interesting so that students can describe theconcept of a material with their own creativity in terms of both language and symbols. Through the Mind Map, we can see theoverall picture of the material we are studying, activates the whole brain works to develop and plan the direction of mind maps,solve a problem by making a creative breakthrough, it is easier to remember the information in a clear and easy to understand, and get something fun and creative.

Abstract

Various innovations in the field of education have been carried out to produce the best learning programs that have thepotential to develop students' abilities in mastering teaching material, skills and attitudes of students. But any renewal inan effort to improve the quality of education will lead to learning in the classroom where the main determinant of quality isthe teacher. Therefore, the preparation of qualified teachers will determine the overall quality of education. Forms of qualityteacher preparation are done through competency-based teacher training. To further improve the results in this papersupplemented by the use of inquiry-based modules. The main characteristic of this module is that the inculcation of conceptsis integrated with the inculcation of the underlying reasoning accompanied by the inculcation of science process skills.

Abstract

The development of technology and communication is currently growing rapidly, thus impacting the largenumber of circulating information. The amount of information that is available now makes findinginformation difficult, so it takes the ability to search, choose and evaluate which information is needed. Theability to search, choose and evaluate information better known as information literacy is an ability that mustbe owned by the community to realize an information society. Students are part of the community who playa role in filling development, of course must have this ability as a basic ability. With information literacy thatis capable of helping students achieve optimal academic abilities and support student self regulated learning.Especially students who are completing their thesis to get an academic degree, this ability is very supportiveof students when looking for relevant sources or references that support the research topic. This researchwas carried out in the 2015/2016 academic year with the research subjects being 70 students who contractedthesis, consisting of 17 male students and 53 female students. The instrument used is an information literacyquestionnaire adapted from Nurtiar (2012). Based on the results of data analysis, it was obtained a picturethat the average level of information literacy of thesis students in the Department of Mathematics EducationUntirta amounted to 40.17 included in the less category. This indicates that students are aware of the needto get the information needed, and have knowledge about matters relating to the search and use ofinformation even though there are still few. So that it requires guidance and intensive information literacytraining that is integrated in one subject

Abstract

The problem underlying this research is the students mathematical disposition and critical thinking ability in the learning processare low. One of the alternative learnings that can be applied to improve the students mathematical disposition and criticalthinking ability is PQ4R Strategy. This study aims to determine whether a mathematical disposition and the students criticalthinking ability increased after learning by using PQ4R Strategy, as well as to determine the students' response to learning byusing PQ4R strategy. The method used in this research is the Classroom Action Research (CAR), with the cycle of planning,action, observation, and reflection. As for the instruments which are used in collecting the data consisted of observation sheets,formative tests, questionnaires, and field notes. In this research, we can obtain a qualitative and quantitative data. Based onthe analysis of the results of formative test, the students critical thinking ability after learning by using PQ4R strategy increased,as well as based on the analysis of the questionnaire, the mathematical disposition after learning by using PQ4R strategyincreased and the students respond positively to the learning of mathematics using PQ4R strategy

Abstract

The background of this research is based on the low level of the student creative thinking ability which is supported by the sourcebooks that used by the student does not lead them to think creatively in solving problems. Therefore, the researcher developedthe teaching which is appropriate with the student creative thinking ability by using the integrated learning model with connectedtype. The abjective of this research were to describe the learning material design which can improve the student creative thinkingability and to find out the effectiveness of the learning material that was made. This research was used the research developmentby using the development design from Sugiyono that has been modified by the research at several step. The subject of this researchwas the VIII-A student of SMP Plus Baiturahman. The instrument consist of validity, practically and effectiveness. Practicalitytest instrument which use to collect the data were the test instrument, which is consist of the observation sheet, pre-test an posttestquestion in a small group trial and questionnaire of student responses and journal. Wheteas, the assessment of theeffectiveness were tested by using creative thinking test, questionnaires of student respon and journal. The validity test showedvalid criteria. The result of student observation sheet is “very good” criteria and the result of student responses questionnaire is“good” criteria based on the result of this research, the learning device can be said that is practical and the tes of effectivenessshowed good criteria.

Abstract

Mathematics is a subject learned from pre-school to college. Nevertheless, many students consider mathematics difficult andboring. In reality mathematics is often found in everyday life. Even in culture even though learning mathematics is tucked away.The culture that is most familiar among students is the traditional game. One of these traditional games is “Gatric”. Playinggatrik means students have learned some activities in mathematics. The purpose of writing this paper is to show the mathematicalactivities that exist in the Gatric game. Gatrik is a traditional game that involves two players or more who use two pieces ofwood / wood that have different lengths. This paper is based on a literature review from some supporting literature. Literatureused as a supporting source is the result of research.

Abstract

The research based on the low mathematical creative thinking ability. To overcome this problem. Student Teams AchievementDivision (STAD) which is assisted by comic media, can be an alternative cooperative learning model. This research examinedthe increasing problem of creative mathematical thinking ability after receive STAD cooperative learning model. This researchaims to figure out students response towards mathematic course. This research was a quasi-experimental research design withNon-Equivalent Control Group Design using purposive sampling technique. The population in this research was the seventhgrade of SMPN 18 Bandung in 2013/2014. The sample of this research was the students class VII-3 and VII-5. Aninstrument used in the study was ability of mathematical creative thinking test. Data acquired is analyzed both quantitativeand qualitative. Moreover, the data of pre-test, post-test, and n-gain are calculated by SPSS 21 for Windows. The resultshowed that, the increasing of students mathematical creative thinking ability who receive STAD cooperative learning modelassisted by comic media is better than students who receive conventional learning. Meanwhile, based on questionnaire analysis,conclusion can be drawn that students respond positively towards Mathematics course after using STAD cooperative learningmodel assisted by comic media.

Abstract

Calculus is a must course of many major in higher education. It caused by calculus has a role as basic foundation of manytheories and its application is used in many aspects of various majors. However, many students had difficulty to undersatandcalculus course. Its difficulty was caused by calculus course could not been integrated with topics that was learned in each ofmajors. Solution of that problem is to integrated topics from various majors in calculus course and it can be done with STEMlearning. STEM learning integrates science aspect (S), technology aspect (T), engineering aspect (E), and mathematics aspect(M) in learning process so it can makes calculus course to be more realistic so students can easily understand it.
