The forest land cover of this area continues to decline due to forest fires and forest area conversion. These problems will affected changes in the Bukit Suligi Protection Forest cover. Efforts to find out the change in cover of Bukit Suligi Protected Forest Area land was monitored to see changes in land cover in the area. The purpose of research was changes detection the Bukit Suligi Protection Forest cover in Kampar District through interpretation of Landsat imageries 1997, 2007 and 2017. Identify factors that cause changes in the cover of Bukit Suligi Protection Forest. This research analyzed land cover changes and interviews. Based on the results of interpretation of Landsat imageries in 1997, 2007 and 2017, land cover changes that occurred in the period 1997 - 2017 reached 4447.62 ha or 76.76% of the total area. If described in the period 1997 - 2007 land cover changes amounted to 2920.32 ha or 50.40% of the total area, these changes continue to increase until the period 2007 - 2017 land cover changes of 3627 ha or 62.60% of the total area. Factors that influence changes in the cover area of Bukit Suligi Protection Forest are natural factors and human factors. Abstract

The breeding of Timor deer at the University of Riau was successful due to the high adaptability of the Timor deer outside their habitat. Maintaining the success of Timor deer breeding at the University of Riau the need for direct observation of the environment and the availability of food at the likely location of Timor deer breeding to avoid undesirable things. This research was conducted to be a reference for better management of Timor Deer's breeding efforts at the University of Riau. The materials and tools used are moisture meters, measuring instruments, cameras, compasses, tape measures, ropes, pH meters and clinometers. The method of investigation used is the census method using the path system. The study area of 2.07 ha with the census method records the water conditions, the topography, the protection of the canopy, the vegetation, the temperature and the humidity, which were not previously known. For an investigation area of 2.07 ha, a plot of 20 m width and 5000 m length is needed by drawing a line of intersection for population indications observed in the prospective breeding area. The results showed that the physical location of the potential stag breeding at Riau University could very well be determined and developed as a breeding ground for Timor stags. Suitability of Timor-Deer habitat (Cervus timorensis) at potential breeding grounds of the University of Riau supports various forest types, shade trees, feed types, roofing stratification and plant vegetation for the Timor-Deer breed (Cervus timorensis). The availability of biotics in breeding candidates is considered appropriate for the survival of the Timor-deer.

Abstract

Forest is an ecosystem based on the complexity of its components. One of the components of a forest is soil. The importance of soil for human survival and growth for trees. In this ,research we analyzed the physical and chemical characteristics of soil in Sentajo Protected Forest. Soil samples were taken using composite and ring samples techniques. Soil samples were taken from five plot points measuring 20 m x 20 m in two depth level namely, 0-20 cm and 20-40 cm. mixed evenly to get one composite soil mixture. The results of research in Sentajo Protected Forest showed that the land in Sentajo Protected Forest was classified as acidic with a value of 3.68 - 4.34 with organic C content that is classified as low to high and a low KTK value. Moreover, the physical characteristics of the soil in Sentajo Protected Forest were more sandy texture. The values of moisture content, bulk density and porosity at a depth of 0 - 20 cm were higher when compared to a depth of 20 - 40 cm.
