Abstract

Sentajo Protected Forest located in Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province. There is no information about vegetation diversity in this location. Therefore this study was conducted. This study aimed to determine the diversity of vegetation, structure, and composition of each community in Sentajo Protected Forest. The study was conducted in April-September 2016. A sampling design was determined using systematic sampling with random start. The sampling intensity used was 5%. The parameters measured in this study were the importance value index, similarity index between communities, species diversity index, evenness index, dominance index, regeneration, as well as horizontal and vertical structures. Based on the type of soil, elevation, and slope, 6 communities were grouped from the dense coverage area (forested). The results showed that the Sentajo Protected Forest had 424 flora consisted of 254 species, and 102 families. Sentajo Protected Forest had similarity index between 18 - 64%, species diversity index of 2.62 - 4.15, evenness index of 0.59 - 0.86, dominance index of 0.02 - 0.08. The larger the diameter of the tree, the smaller the number of individuals. The stratification of the canopy had 5 layers of canopy. Sentajo Protected Forest regeneration was relatively good as the number of seedlings> saplings> mature trees.Key words: community, composition and structure, diversity, Sentajo Protected Forest.

Abstract

Natural forest has many ecological functions which plays a vital role in preserving the ecosystem balance. One of them is to stabilize the climatic condition. This is linked with the forest capability to absorb carbondioxide in the photosynthesis process. The more carbondioxide absorbed and stored in the form of biomass carbon, the more it reduces greenhouse gas effect in the atmosphere. This research aimed to obtain information about the value of biomass and carbon content in the Sentajo Protected Forest. Above ground biomass estimation was done by establishing nine plots with the size 20 m x 20 m. Trees with dbh ≥ 10 cm were recorded in terms of diameter and identification species. Tree biomass was estimated by employing Ketterings et al, (2001). Sentajo Protected Forest  region has great potential in storing carbon stocks. The study results showed that carbon contain in Sentajo Protected Forest is 223,177 ton/ha.   Keywords : forest, carbon, biomass.

Abstract

Belimbing Island Tourism Village is one of the tourist attractions located in kuok district kampar regency. Belimbing Island Tourism Village has great potential as a tourist attraction because of its natural cultural and indigenous values. Preserving and developing culture is a step that must be taken in order to maintain its cultural sustainability and can be felt by all people because cultural values are inseparable from the role of human beings as cultural beings who inherit the culture. This research aims to empower and develop the potential in Kuok Subdistrict, Kampar. The research method is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques using observations and interviews. Analysis is data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results of this study are empowering and developing tourism potential in Belimbing Island is done by preserving it by studying the culture of Kuok Village through community leaders, adding to the beauty of the traditional home environment, and following community cultural activities that strengthen the sense of brotherhood.

Abstract

The people of Rumbio Village are people with an average profession as farmers. The people of Rumbio Village have an economic level at the middle to lower level and need special attention from the government. One way to improve the economic level of the Rumbio village community is by forming their skills in post-harvest processing of agricultural products. This skill is needed for processing agricultural products in this case red ginger. based on this, a community service activity entitled "Improving Community Skills in Rumbio Village, Kampar Regency through Red Ginger Processing" was carried out. The method of application is carried out in the form of socialization and direct practice, namely processing red ginger into instant ginger, this activity is carried out in the meeting hall of the Rumbio Village office with the target community, namely the PKK women of Rumbio village. activity, where the participants were very enthusiastic and contributed to the processing of instant ginger, then the results were also obtained that this instant red ginger can generate profits twice as much as the initial capital spent. Processing of instant ginger is a very promising business opportunity, so it is important to improve the skills of the target community in processing red ginger into instant ginger, the increase is seen from the achievement of the activity indicators, namely technical and non-technical knowledge of making instant red ginger.

Abstract

Desa Kuok merupakan salah satu nama daerah di Kampar, Pekanbaru. Desa ini termasuk dengan mayoritas penduduk adalah petani ladang dan perkebunan. Infrastruktur di Desa ini banyak lahan hijau yang digunakan sebagai tempat berladang dan berkebun serta memberikan pembelajaran tersendiri bagi petani-petani yang ada. Hal lain yang muncul dan tidak dapat dikesampingkan dengan banyaknya lahan hijau memberikan suatu masalah sampah terutama sampah daun. Selama ini sampah daun yang hanya dikumpulkan dan dibuang ditempat pembuangan sampah akhir belum ada yang memanfaatkan. Tujuan dari program ini adalah untuk membuat kompos daun sebagai solusi kreatif bagi petani ladang dan perkebunan serta memberikan ilmu kepada penduduk kegunaan limbah tidak terpakai.

Abstract

Forest is an ecosystem based on the complexity of its components. One of the components of a forest is soil. The importance of soil for human survival and growth for trees. In this ,research we analyzed the physical and chemical characteristics of soil in Sentajo Protected Forest. Soil samples were taken using composite and ring samples techniques. Soil samples were taken from five plot points measuring 20 m x 20 m in two depth level namely, 0-20 cm and 20-40 cm. mixed evenly to get one composite soil mixture. The results of research in Sentajo Protected Forest showed that the land in Sentajo Protected Forest was classified as acidic with a value of 3.68 - 4.34 with organic C content that is classified as low to high and a low KTK value. Moreover, the physical characteristics of the soil in Sentajo Protected Forest were more sandy texture. The values of moisture content, bulk density and porosity at a depth of 0 - 20 cm were higher when compared to a depth of 20 - 40 cm.

Abstract

Wood was a construction raw material that has long been developed before the advent of concrete and steel technology. The need of wood raw materials for construction was increasingly increasing while the availability of high quality wood was increasingly scarce. Therefore, in order to meet this an effort was needed to produce raw materials to replace wood, its was the development of laminated products or glulam made of bamboo apus (Gigantochloa apus) as structural and construction materials. Based on this, this study was conducted to determine the quality of glulam from Gigantochloa apus by using styrofoam adhesives based on number and pattern of layer arrangement. Sample was made of Gigantochloa apus with sized 30cm × 10cm arranged with the number and pattern of layer arrangement that have been determined. This study uses a complete randomized design combination with two treatments. Factor A was the number of layers (three layers, four layers and five layers) and factor B was the arrangement pattern (diagonal, horizontal and vertical). The physical and mechanical properties of glued laminated beams of Gigantochloa apus were tested based on JAS 234: 2003 Standard. The results showed that the quality of glulam met the physical properties of moisture content. While the mechanical properties of MOE and MOR did not meet the standards, so they did not be use as structural materials. Combination with horizontal, diagonal and horizontal lamina arrangement patterns gives the best results on the mechanical properties of glulam.

Abstract

The lack of numeracy knowledge among students at State Elementary School 013 Kaliamanting Island Village is a problem so further learning is needed The aim of this research was to assess the impact of using the Jarimatika method on students' multiplication abilities in classes V and VI of the Kalimanting Island State Elementary School. This research focuses on the application of Jarimatika as a tool in solving multiplication problems. The motivation for this research arose because students did not have adequate skills in dealing with multiplication, and monotonous teaching methods made learning mathematics difficult. The method used in this research is an experiment with a quasi-experimental design known as a nonequivalent control group design. The experimental group was treated with the Jarimatika method, while the control group continued to use conventional methods which included expository, question and answer and rote memorization methods. Data was collected through tests, and research results were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques. The research results showed an increase in the average score on the pretest and posttest. From the test results, it can be seen that there is a different increase between the control group and the experimental group. The increase in the average score in the control group was 19 points, increasing from 52 to 71, while the experimental group experienced an increase of 22 points, increasing from 54 to 76. Also, the increase in multiplication calculation ability in the control group was lower than in the experimental group. These findings show that the use of the Jarimatika method has more impact on the multiplication abilities of class VI students in elementary school

Abstract

Produk Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah yang dilaksanakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah Keripik pisang cokelat yang diberi nama Keripik Pisang Bumil (Bubuk Milo). Keripik pisang cokelat merupakan makanan ringan yang dibuat dari buah pisang kepok yang diiris dan digoreng serta diberi tambahan perisa rasa cokelat dalam bentuk bubuk. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di Desa Ujung Tanjung, Kecamatan Benai, Kuantan Singingi. Kegiatan ini meliputi proses pembuatan produk inovasi dan pengemasan, sosialisasi dan pembagian produk kepada masyarakat setempat. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan tujuan menciptakan produk inovasi dari olahan keripik pisang yang dapat menjadi peluang usaha kekinian. Dalam kegiatan ini dilaksanakan sosialisasi kepada masyarakat, dengan tujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan baru mengenai pengolahan produk inovasi tersebut. Produk inovasi tersebut digemari oleh semua kalangan, khususnya kalangan anak-anak sehingga cocok untuk dipasarkan. Inovasi tersebut diharapkan dapat menambah penghasilan bagi masyarakat Desa Ujung Tanjung.

Abstract

One potential plant species for restoration in peat swamp forests is Cratoxylon arborescens. A well-managed nursery includes the application of chicken manure. This study aims to determine the effect and best dose of chicken manure fertilizer on the growth of Cratoxylon arborescens seedlings on peat planting media. This research used RAL (Completely Randomized Design) experimental method, which consisted of 4 treatments (P0 = control, P1 = 10% chicken manure + 90% peat, P2 = 30% chicken manure + 70% peat and P3 = 50% chicken manure + 50% peat) with 5 replications. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using variance analysis, followed by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the 5% level. The results showed that chicken manure had a significant effect on the growth of Cratoxylon arborescens seedlings, because it was able to increase fertility and nutrient availability, improve the physical, chemical and biological properties of peat. The most effective and best treatment for four-month-old Cratoxylon arborescens seedlings was P2 (30% chicken manure + 70% peat) with 100% survival percentage, average height increase of 14.39 cm, average diameter increase of 1.56 mm, dry weight of 7.41 g and seedling robustness of 8.35
