Abstract

Background: Since WHO declared COVID-19 a pandemic, Indonesia, including RSUD Gambiran Kediri, has experienced a sharp increase in morbidity and mortality. The global incidence of acute stroke in COVID-19 patients is 1.4%, with symptoms varying from mild to severe, including death. Elevated serum D-dimer in COVID-19 patients can be a biomarker to predict severe complications. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between elevated serum D-dimer levels (mild, moderate, severe) with mortality in acute stroke patients with COVID-19. Methods: Observational analytic study with a cross-sectional method using secondary data from medical records of patients admitted to RSUD Gambiran Kediri from March 2020 to June 2023. Patients were categorized based on serum D-dimer levels: normal (<0.5 mg/L), mild (<1 mg/L), moderate (1-2 mg/L), and severe (>2 mg/L). Results: Of 101 acute stroke patients with COVID-19, 52.48% were male. A total of 90 patients had elevated D-dimer levels, with 44 patients dying. Spearman correlation test and Chi-square test showed no significant association between D-dimer levels and mortality (p>0.005). Conclusion: There is no association between elevated serum D-dimer levels and mortality in acute stroke patients with COVID-19.

Abstract

In the 4.0 Revolution Era, technology is becoming increasingly advanced, impacting eye fatigue. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between unsafe actions of gadget use and subjective complaints of eye fatigue among Psychology students at Jambi University in 2023. This was a cross-sectional study with a sample of 106 students using stratified random sampling. The research was conducted from March 2023 to February 2024 at the Psychology Study Program, Jambi University. Univariate and bivariate analyses were performed using the Chi-square test with 95% confidence level. The dependent variable was subjective complaints of eye fatigue measured by the DES-Q, while the independent variables were glasses use, viewing duration, viewing distance, and gadget use position. 60.4% had subjective eye fatigue complaints. Variables associated with subjective eye fatigue complaints were long gadget viewing duration (PR: 1.945 (95%CI; 0.936-4.042)) and short smartphone viewing distance (PR: 1.532 (95%CI; 1.092-2.151)). No association was found for glasses use (PR: 0.986 (95%CI; 0.657-1.479)), laptop viewing distance (PR: 0.892 (95%CI; 0.649-1.227)), and gadget use position (PR: 1.027 (95%CI; 0.697-1.514)). Conclusion: Long gadget viewing duration >4 hours and short smartphone viewing distance <30 cm were risk factors for subjective eye fatigue complaints. Students are advised to take eye breaks every 2 hours.

Abstract

Background: The coverage of complete basic immunisation in Indonesia from 2020 to 2022 never reached the target of the 2020-2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan despite various efforts made by the government. As a result, there are many cases of infectious diseases in children. Therefore, this study aims to determine the overview of the coverage of complete basic immunisation in Indonesia in 2022 and the effect of antenatal care visits, doctor ratio, and ownership of immunisation documents on the coverage of complete basic immunisation in Indonesia in 2022. Methods: This study uses data from the Central Bureau of Statistics publication and the Ministry of Health publication. The analysis method used in this study is multiple linear regression analysis. Results: Antenatal care visits and the ratio of doctors have a positive and insignificant effect on the coverage of complete basic immunisation in Indonesia in 2022 while ownership of immunisation documents has a significant positive effect. Conclusion: The variable of ownership of immunisation documents is the most influential variable on the coverage of complete basic immunisation. This variable will increase the coverage of complete basic immunisation by 1.377 percent every 1 percent increase in the percentage of ownership of immunisation documents.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a group of chronic metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia. One of DM complication involve nerveous system disorder known as neuropathy. To prevent diabetic neuropathy developing into diabetic foot ulcer, early detection for the patient is necessary. However in implementing neuropathy screening tests, challenges and obstacles can be found. Objective: Assessing the challenges and obstacles in diagnosing neuropathy in patients with diabetes. Method: This study use a quantitative design with descriptive method. Data used in this study is secondary data with a total of 53 doctors as respondents. The data was then analyzed univariately using descriptive statistics to determine the frequency distribution. Results: In this study, only 9 respondents (17%) carried out neuropathy screening regularly. There are limitations to screening tools including tuning forks , neuropathy questionnaires, reflex hammers, monofilaments, and von Frey hair. Apart from that, the majority of respondents stated that they did not get enough time during the examination and the patients were not aware of their neuropathy condition. Conclusion: The results of this study show that there are challenges and obstacles in using neuropathy screening tests for neuropathy patients with diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Introduction: Occupational contact dermatitis (OCD) is a non-contagious skin problem caused by exposure to allergens and irritants in the workplace. While not life-threatening, it impacts quality of life and causes discomfort. Sugarcane farmers are particularly at risk due to exposure to fine hairs from sugarcane and chemical fertilizers. Predisposing factors, such as a history of atopy, can increase susceptibility to OCD. Method: The study used an analytical observational method with a cross-sectional design. The population of this study was sugarcane farmers in Pakisjajar Village, Malang Regency, with a sample size of 60 people using the total sampling method. Data analysis using a questionnaire and analyzed by SPSS using a logistic regression statistical test. Result: The logistic regression test showed a significance value of 0.009 (<0.05), indicating that atopic history significantly influences OCD. An Exp(B) value of 5.412 suggests that increase in atopic history raises the likelihood of OCD by 5.412 times. The R Square value of 0.174 (17.4%) indicates that atopic history accounts for 17.4% of the variance in OCD, with the remainder influenced by other factors. Conclusion: There is an effect of atopic history on the incidence of DKAK in sugarcane farmers.

Abstract

At the end of 2022 in North Sumatra, the number of dengue cases reached 8,541 cases. This figure has increased significantly from the previous year, namely in 2021, which was 2,932 cases. The death rate due to dengue fever has also increased, where at the end of 2021 the death rate was 16 people to 60 people at the end of 2022. One of the efforts to control Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is by increasing efforts to eradicate the vector that transmits DHF. Ovitrap is a way to break the life cycle of mosquitoes that cause DHF. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the socialization of ovitrap making on the knowledge of participants (students) about how to control the population of mosquito vectors that cause Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever. The experimental method in the form of a single case pretest-posttest design was used as a method in this study. To measure the success of the activity, a Pre-Test and Post-Test will be distributed with a questionnaire instrument before and after the socialization. The results obtained were an increase in students' knowledge by 45% after the socialization, with an average value before socialization of 6.3 and after socialization increasing to 9.1. So that the Ngain score value was 0.77 and the Ngain Score (%) 77% was obtained, which means that the Socialization of Ovitrap Making has an effectiveness in increasing the knowledge of students at SMP Darma Medan. The conclusion in this study is that the socialization carried out has an effectiveness that is useful for increasing students' knowledge and awareness of how to control Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). The researcher suggests that teachers and parties responsible for students continue to monitor the development of understanding of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever.
