Abstract

DOWNLOAD PDFThe research aims were: (1) obtained fish fumigator specification which effective to applied in coastal area, (2) high organoleptic value, and (3) rich nutrient content, and longtime period of expire of product. The method consisted designing, making fish crackers, and testing of equipment specification, testing the organoleptic and nutrient value, as well as expired period of the product. Tool specification prototype obtained  from this research were: dryer equipment performance were tetrahedral (175x60x50 cm), Tin 65oC, Tout 60oC, equipment  capacity 30 kg, effectively 55,13%, time of drying 4 hours, fuel volume 3 liter. Product specification are taste like=5, and high nutrient, Fumigator equipment performance are  tetrahedral (165x60x50 cm), Tin 60oC, Tout 55oC, equipment capacity 30 kg, effectively 36,50%, time of drying 3 hours, fuel (charcoal) volume 7 kg. Product specification are high nutrient, organoleptics value very like=6, , and product expired periods 4-5 days.   Key words: Fish technology, nutrient, organoleptic

DOWNLOAD PDFPenelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan strategi  pembelajaran QSH dan kemampuan akademik awal siswa terhadap hasil belajar kognitif siswa kelas VIII SMPN 2 Camba serta pengaruh interaksi antara strategi pembelajaran QSH dengan kemampuan akademik terhadap hasil belajar kognitif siswa. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIIIa sebagai kelas QSH dengan jumlah siswa 30 orang dan kelas VIIIb sebagai kelas konvensional dengan jumlah siswa 28 orang. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan mengevaluasi hasil belajar, melalui tes tertulis yang meliputi pretest (tes hasil belajar kognitif awal siswa) dan posttest (tes hasil belajar kognitif akhir siswa). Data yang terkumpul dianalisis secara statistik deskriptif dengan menggunakan pedoman pengkategorian hasil belajar menurut Arikunto dan uji hipotesis secara inferensial dengan menggunakan analisis kovariansi (Anakova) dengan taraf signifikasi 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi pembelajaran diperoleh nilai p lebih besar dari α 0.05 (p≥0.05) dengan sig. 0,417, kemampuan akademik diperoleh nilai p lebih kecil dari α 0.05 (p≤0.05) dengan sig. 0,008, dan interaksi strategi pembelajaran dan kemampuan akademik diperoleh nilai p lebih besar dari α 0,05 (p≥0,05) dengan sig. 0,131. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan akademik berpengaruh terhadap hasil belajar kognitif siswa sedangkan strategi pembelajaran QSH dan interaksi antara strategi dengan kemampuan akademik tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap hasil belajar kognitif.   Kata kunci: Strategi pembelajaran QSH, kemampuan akademik, hasil belajar kognitif

DOWNLOAD PDFThe aim of this research was to examine the total phenolic content and radical scavenging capacity related to antioxidant potential in different fractions of methanolic extract of mangroves trees, Sonneratia alba bark. Total phenolic content was determined by the  Folin-Ciocalteau method.  Antioxidant  potential  has  been determined  as  the  free radical scavenging ability using a stable radical, diphenyl-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH). Three fractions  of methanol extracts of S. alba were subjected to free radical scavenging activity in order to evaluate their antioxidant activity. The free radical scavenging activity of different fractions obtained from successive fractionation of methanol extracts with organic solvents of different polarities; hexane, chloroform, and ethyl acetate. Total phenolics content of three fraction and crude extract are 17.84 ±0.974, 156.310 ±0.703, 226.89 ±0.605, 249.56  ±0942 (GAE μg/g) respectively for hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, and crude extracts (methanol extract). Antioxidant assay showed that the ethyl acetate and chloroform fractions have the high activity with IC50 10.27 μg/ml and 27.34 μg/ml, respectively, while  a weak activity was showed by hexane fraction with 147 μg/ml. Linear correlation between the total antioxidant capacity of the fractions and the total phenolic contents was observed (r2=0.918). This data indicated that the antioxidant activity  mainly due to phenolic compound contain in those fraction. The results indicate promising S.alba or the utilization as significant source of natural antioxidant. Key words: Sonneratia alba,  total phenolics,  radical scavenging activity, antioxidant,  DPPH

DOWNLOAD PDFThe study has been conducted to determine whether there are influences and interactions of type of mulberry Morus multicaulis and  Morus cathayana to cocoon production in the silkworm (Bombyx mori L.) Local varieties, Japan, China and Rumania. Study was arranged in Complete Randomized Design (CRD), with a factorial design of two types of mulberry leaf with four varieties of silkworms with three replications. The treatments combination were 24 treatments. The parameters of this research included cocoon weight, cocoon leather weight, fiber length and fiber weight. The results showed that Morus cathayana have cocoon 1.188 g weight, cocoon skin 0.214 g, 1015.027 m of fiber length and fiber weight 0.218 g in silkworm Romania variety (A2B4), when compared with Morus multicaulis produced cocoon weight as 1.143 g, and cocoon skin 0.197 g, fiber length 944.745 m, and fiber weight 0.199 g in silkworm Romania variety (A1B4). Therefore after data were analyzed with LSD (α=0.05) Morus multicaulis and Morus cathayana to silkworm Local, Japan, China and Romania and the interactions between mulberrys with four varieties of silkworm cocoons have real impact on weight, heavy leather cocoon and fiber length and weight of fiber produced.   Key words:  Morus multicaulis, Morus cathayana, production of silk cocoon, silkworm

DOWNLOAD PDFThe research was a descriptive study to see how the student learning achievement of bidik misi awardees at the beginning of academic year 2010/2011. Population and sample in this study were all students which received bidik misi scholarship at Faculty of Mathematic and Natural Science, Makassar State University (FMIPA UNM). Method collecting data by taking the documentary secondary of GPA at beginning semester. The data obtained in this study were analyzed using descriptive statistical and categorized according academic guidance of Departement of Biology FMIPA UNM year 2010. Study showed that the average learning achievement of students were very satisfactory with average GPA 3.01. There were 12.28% of students who in honors category (cumlaude, GPA 3.51 to 4,00). While, 57.89% of students in category of very satisfactory (GPA 2.76 to 3.50), and 26.32% in the category satisfying (GPA 2.50 to 2.75). Nevertheless, there have about 1.75% of students in the category enough (GPA 2.00 to 2.49), and also 1.75% of students in less category (GPA 0.00 to 1.99). DOWNLOAD PDFClassroom action research aims to improving the students' activities and biology learning outcomes through the application of  SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review) method. The subjects were students of VIIIA class at SMP Negeri 1 Lamuru, semester I, 2011/2012 academic years, consisted of 24 students, 13 male and 11 female. The research was carried out into two cycles. Collected data of learning outcomes were analyzed by using quantitative analysis. The results showed that the application of SQ3R method could improve the students' activities and biology learning outcomes. The improvements were shown by findings from cycle I to cycle II, namely: (1) the students' activities showed improvement in asking, reading, finding the pictures from the whole materials, and mentioning the answers, (2) the students' learning outcomes improved from the average score in cycle I was 63.19 to 74.86 in cycle II. In addition, improvement also occurred in a number of the students in mastery learning which in cycle 1 was 41.67% and in cycle II was 83.33%. Based on the findings, it could be concluded that the implementation of SQ3R method improved the students' activities and biology learning outcomes of VIIIA class at SMP Negeri 1 Lamuru.   Key words: Learning activity, learning outcomes, SQ3R method

DOWNLOAD PDFDescriptive research was done to know the contents of lead (Pb) in tea leaf (Camellia sinensis) at top, under hills as well as soil of tea plantation at top and under the hills in Malino district. The Variable of these researches was lead content in tea leaf at top and under the hills. Another variable was soial of tea plantation at the top and under hills. The samples were taken from six stations, which were 1, 2, and 3 stations at top hill and 4, 5 and 6 stations at under hill. The leaf sample that taken was small sprout. Lead content was analyzed by using Absorption Automatic Spectrophotometer.  The results showed that mean content of lead in tea leaf at top hill was 3,4 µg/kg and mean content of lead at under hill was 5,7 µg/kg. The mean content of soil at top hill was 8,4 µg/kg and the average Pb content of soil at under hill was 7,5 µg/kg. After calculated by Mann-Whitney test found that there was difference Pb between concentration in the leaves on tea plants at top and under hills. There was no differences between lead concentration in soil at the top and under of hills. Test correlation with Spearman Rank found that there was correlation between Pb contents in the leaf of tea plants on the hill with soil at the hill. Study also showed that no correlation between lead content at tea leaf and soil at under of the hill.   Key words: Tea leaf (Camellia sinensis),  lead (Pb),  Malino tea plantation.

DOWNLOAD PDFIn vitro examine of fractionated ethanol extract of bark Mangrove (Avicennia spp). showed high antibaterial activity. Repression test of extract formula showed that fish has a higher viability. Recent study has conducted to find the main compound as candidate prior to standardized product of phytopharmaca for future commercial purposes. The chromatography methods was  applied and  identification of  major compounds by analysis based on chemical test as well as spectral data of spectroscopic measurements. Study showed that main secondary metabolites in the form of alkaloid class of polar compounds. The white crystalline powder form characteristics has a melting point 172oC with molecular weight 232, and molecular formula is C12H12N2O3.   Key words: Main secondary metabolites, mangrove, Avicennia spp.

DOWNLOAD PDFStandarization simplisia leaf hantap (Sterculia coccinea Jack) origin Dongala regency of Central Sulawesi Province raw materials preparations for phitopharmaca. The morphological examination showed that hantap leaf plants including dicotyledoneae class with  woody stems and  roots heels. Transverse  slices of  the anatomy of  the  leaf  stomata indicate anomositik type, sliced crosswise rod carrier file types are radial. Physical determination  powders  include  determining the  total wash content  9.74%, wash  content the water soluble and 5.21% wash content that does not dissolve in acid 3.62%. Determination of levels of leaf extract hantap covering levels of water soluble extract, which is 18.89% and levels of ethanol-soluble extract: 14.17%. Identification with chemical reagents contain tannins, steroids and alkaloids. Thin-layer chromatography profiles obtained by the number of spots with more in n-butanol extract with polar eluen chloroform : methanol (20:1) diethyl ether extract compared with non eluen polar heksan: ethyl acetate (8:2).
