Abstract

Everyone has the right to have the opportunity to learn, because by learning to read people will be able to understand and understand well. Reading is a complex ability as a whole psychological process and skills development. Reading is a process of recognizing words, understanding words, and a skill that must be possessed by children. Beginning reading is an activity where the child cannot read yet, it is necessary to introduce letters. Opportunities to learn to read are open to everyone, including children with moderate mental retardation. The condition of being mentally retarded is moderate, in receiving and capturing information affecting reading ability at SDLB Bhakti Luhur Malang class C1. There are 3 mentally retarded children who can't read yet. The steps taken are to train reading beginners using picture media. The goal is to prove that through the media of images can improve the beginning reading ability of moderately mentally retarded children. This type of research is an experimental design used pre-experiment in the form of one group pretest-posttest. This research was conducted at SDLB Bhakti Luhur Malang class C1 which consisted of 3 moderately mentally retarded children. The results obtained after being given treatment for 3 mentally retarded children experienced an increase in beginning reading, namely FD, obtaining an average of 17.5% for imitating, matching, recognizing letters and spelling syllables. AB, obtain an average value of 25% practice imitating, matching, recognizing letters and spelling syllables. CE, obtained an average score of 27.5% in imitating, matching, recognizing letters and spelling syllables.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the difficulty in reading braille in blind students shown by non-fluent behavior in reading both syllables, words and simple sentences in braille. In addition, subjects were slow to identify syllables, and hesitated in reading, especially when reading simple readings, consisting of 3-5 sentences. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the Structure Analysis Synthesis (SAS) method can improve braille reading skills in blind children in Bhakti Luhur Malang who are in grade  II SDLB-A. The method used is an experimental method with a Single Subject Research design A-B-A design. The results showed that in the baseline phase (A1) which was carried out as many as 3 sessions, the average score was 44.3%. Meanwhile, in the Intervention phase (B) which was carried out as many as 6 sessions obtained an average score of 53.8%. And the baseline phase 2 (A2) carried out as many as 3 sessions obtained an average score of 86%. The results of visual analysis in conditions show that the directional tendency increases from session to session, which means that it shows a change in good (+). Meanwhile, in the analysis between conditions, the level change from the baseline phase to the intervention phase increased from the previous data, while the percentage of overlap after calculating the intervention conditions to the baseline obtained an overlap percentage of 50%, which means that the intervention has a good effect. While in the intervention condition with baseline condition 2, an overlap percentage of 0% was obtained, which means that the intervention has a good effect on braille reading ability, the conclusion that can be drawn is that changes in braille reading ability in blind children occur due to braille reading interventions using the SAS method.

Abstract

Scouting activities are activities that internalize good values for students. Although scouts are extracurricular, most of the content of the activities is in the form of instilling pro-social attitudes and actions needed by students as a young generation. Pro-social attitudes are concerned with sharing, cooperating, helping, being honest, generosity, and considering the rights and welfare of others. This study aims to describe the perception of SMPK Bhakti Luhur Malang students towards the contribution of strengthening pro-social attitudes in scout activities, as an effort to prevent violence. The research method applied is a mix method, which combines quantitative approaches to describe student perceptions and qualitative approaches as supporting data. All 28 grade VIII and IX students were respondents, and 4 people consisting of scout leaders, homeroom teachers, and principals became informants in this study. Data were collected using questionnaires referring to the Likert Scale model and interview guide. Quantitative data were analyzed using percentages and graphs, while qualitative data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman approach. The results stated that students' perceptions of sharing attitudes obtained a score of 79.9%, cooperation and help 82.6%, honesty 70.3%, generosity 76.1%, attention to the rights of others 76.6%, with an average of 78.0% (very high contribution). These results are confirmed by the results of qualitative research which states that between students various toys and stationery, cooperate in helping friends, especially those with special needs, be generous by sharing provisions with other students, empathize with others. On the element of honesty, some students still cheat on exams and give incorrect excuses when arriving late

Abstract

The relationship between church and culture has been a long discussion. The culture that exists in the world should be a valuable part of the life of the church. The world and society, with all their forms, characters, and social conditions, display diversity. In the culture of society, of course, there are many good and valuable values. The "Arat Sabulungan" culture in Mentawai society is one of the many cultures that have noble values. Arat Sabulungan is a custom that involves belief in the existence of spirits and spirits who inhabit all of nature, including plants, animals, soil, and man-made objects. Basically, Arat Sabulungun is the knowledge, values, rules, and norms used by people to understand and interpret their environment, including interactions between humans, animals, plants, land, water, air, and man-made objects. The values contained in the "Arat Sabulungan" culture can be seen and interpreted both from a social, moral, and spiritual perspective. These good values are then adopted into the life of the church. By seeing the importance of paying attention to the relationship between the Church and culture, the focus of this writing study is the Inculturation Catechism on the meaning of the Arat Sabulungan Culture in the Mentawai tribal community. The method used is literature and interviews, so the values contained in the Arat Sabulungan culture, such as honesty, cooperation, solidarity, and mutual respect, are found to be relevant in increasing understanding of the teachings of the Catholic Church by the Mentawai people.

Abstract

Every tribe definitely has customs or traditions that are still practiced today. These customs or traditions can include birth, marriage, and even death. One tribe that has many traditions is the Toba Batak tribe, especially in marriage rites. Marriage in Toba Batak culture has very noble values. In the Catholic Church's liturgy, marriage rites also have sacred valuesA meeting of marriage procedures in the Catholic Church and one of the elements of Toba Batak culture is needed to maintain the faith of the faithful. The liturgy is one of the means of mission in the midst of the faithful. Amidst the cultural diversity that exists in Indonesia, the Catholic Church is also responsible for maintaining local culture. The Catholic Church's marriage procedures open opportunities for elements of local culture to be expressed in the liturgy. Boras si pir ni tondi is one of the elements of Toba Batak culture which is suitable to be included in the inculturation of Catholic marriage procedures. By incorporating boras si pir ni tondi as a form of expression from local culture into the liturgy, the Church has high hopes that local culture will be preserved, the people's faith is always maintained, and the people can have a longing to always meet God. The presence of the Church has always been a link between local customs and faith in God.

Abstract

RJ is a child who has Down syndrome. In developing fine motor skills, RJ experienced problems due to low tone so that RJ was unable to carry out activities using his fingers. One of the children with down syndrome named rj had problems with his fine motor skills so that he could not do activities that involved his fingers properly according to his age. This study aims to determine the improvement of RJ's fine motor skills through origami paper folding activities. The research used is quantitative research with a single subject research method or known as single subject research with an A-B-A (Baseline-Intervention-Baseline) design. In the baseline-A1 condition, it was carried out for three sessions and was scored without intervention, in the Intervention-B condition, there were six sessions with intervention and a score was given, then the baseline phase A2 was repeated again with three activity sessions. The results obtained in the baseline A1 session received an average score of 26%, which means that the child's folding method is still in the untidy category, which means that their fine motor skills are not good. In the new intervention phase there was progress where on the first day of the intervention the results were 40% quite neat and at the end of the intervention session RJ obtained a score of 100% (very neat). To ensure that the ability to fold paper is good, a re-check was carried out for three sessions and in the last session a score of 94% was obtained even though it was below the results of the intervention phase but this was still in the very neat category. This is because children do it themselves without intervention.

Abstract

The difficulty experienced by students with mental disabilities in understanding the learning of reduction operations is due to their very limited learning capacity, especially regarding abstract matters. Students need concrete and interesting media so that the learning process is more fun and easy to understand, so karbicus media (Cuisenairare number cards) are offered. The purpose of the study was to determine the influence of karbicus media on improving students' abilities in learning mathematics material of 1-10 reduction operations in class IV SLB YPAC MALANG CITY. This research method is classroom Action research. This study was designed in 2 cycles, each cycle consists of 3 meetings. Each cycle consists of several stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected by test and observation techniques. Indicators for students are declared complete learning when they reach a score of 70 or more and are declared to increase when the post-test value of cycle II is higher than the post-test value of cycle I. The results of the study can be concluded that there is an increase in the ability of mentally impaired students in class IV SLB YPAC MALANG IN the 1-10 summation material using karbicus media.

Abstract

Social changes resulting from modernization and globalization can trigger society, especially young people, to become increasingly secular and individualistic. Growing secularism means that religious values ​​and spirituality are often seen as individual choices, not social obligations. individualism places great emphasis on personal freedom, autonomy, and self-achievement Loss of religious values ​​can lead to a lack of solid moral guidance in making decisions and acting. This of course brings very challenging changes and can sometimes make people easily become selfish and indifferent to church activities. The aim of this research is to determine the participation of young Catholics in developing the life of the KBG. In this research, the author used descriptive research. This is intended to discover, know and develop the truth in research. Based on the results of interviews with key informants, 90% of people are easily active in church activities both in the church and in the region/neighborhood. they are active not only as ordinary people but also as leaders or guides in various regional activities. This is caused first by the awareness of the youth themselves of the importance of participating in church activities. Second, there is support from KBG administrators, environmental administrators and local people for young people. People in region 6 really embrace young people and always give trust and support to easy people so that easy people feel comfortable in carrying out activities in the environment or region.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to improve the skills of caregivers of children with special needs in the field of speech coaching in children with speech and language barriers due to speech deafness. The role of caregivers of children with special needs is to educate, coach, train and care so that they can grow and develop optimally. This research is a type of quantitative research and descriptive statistics as data analysis. The subjects of the study were caregivers of 11 children with special needs. The results of the pretest and posttest show that there is an increase in understanding and skills in the field of speech coaching in children who experience language and speech barriers. This is shown by the achievement of improvements in several indicators trained, namely 1) the concept of deaf-wicra-speech children by 36.4%, 2) understanding of various language and speech disorders by 29.5%, 3) understanding the concept of speech processes and the purpose of speech coaching by 36.4%, 4) understanding and skills for checking language and speech development, by 38.6% 5) understanding and skills in designing speech coaching programs by 38,6%.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of clothes folding skills for children with moderate intellectual impairment. Children with special needs (ABK) are children who experience limitations both physically, mentally-intellectually, socially, and emotionally, which significantly affect the process of growth or development compared to normal children their age. Intellectual impairment is a condition of children whose intelligence is below the average of normal children and is characterized by limitations in terms of intelligence and incompetence in social communication. This paper aims to identify and apply the ability to fold clothes to moderately disabled children living in Wisma Setaman Dalam. The method carried out by the author is observation, especially to make provisions for exercise activities for children with special needs. To support the above data, the author also conducted an interview with one of the persons in charge of the homestead who has expertise in the field of moderately mentally impaired children. After going through these processes, the author found a provision for training activities that were suitable for the circumstances and children with special needs. The next step, the predetermined training activities are carried out according to the schedule made so far.
