Abstract

Religion and culture are central to building harmonious relations between adherents of different religions. This study aims to explore the values of moderation in the religious moderation tradition of the Dayak Aoheng tribe's harvest thanksgiving tradition in Tiong Ohang Village, Long Apari District, Mahakam Ulu District. This study uses a qualitative approach to reveal empirical data facts related to people's lives and cultural traditions, especially Aoheng. The data collection method related to the values of religious moderation in the tradition of harvest thanksgiving for the Dayak Aoheng community uses a combination of several complementary methods, namely: (1) collection of written documents on the rice thanksgiving tradition from previous researchers and writers; (2) collection of photographic and recorded documents regarding the rice harvesting traditions of the Aoheng people which can be accessed from various sources; and 3) interviews with informants. This study involved three indigenous informants who understood the harvest thanksgiving tradition of the Aoheng people. The data collected was analyzed descriptively to describe the values of religious moderation in the Aoheng community's harvest thanksgiving tradition. The results of this study conclude that moderate religious practices are internalized in the local wisdom values of the Aoheng community's harvest thanksgiving tradition, namely kinship, togetherness, and tenacity.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the forms of Catholic Parental Responsibility in Children's Faith Education, specifically in the field of koinonia, diakonia, and kerygma, which includes the forms of Catholic parental responsibility in children's faith education and the difficulties and challenges experienced by them. Catholic parents at St. Joseph Station Kampung Baru. This study uses a qualitative approach, observation, documentation and interviews from twelve informants are used to collect data. The results of this study indicate that responsibility is in various fields, such as koinonia which involves coaching in the form of gathering together in the family, giving advice on living in harmony, and teaching the values of mutual love; diakonia which includes coaching in terms of helping others, participating in church activities, and being involved in housework; as well as kerygma which prioritizes coaching such as reading and understanding the holy scriptures, giving reflections, and telling religious stories. However, several obstacles were also found, such as a lack of time between parents and children due to each other's busyness, challenges in managing time due to activities and work, and limited parental knowledge.

Abstract

The focus of this research examines the Church of the Poor. The topic of study is related to encounters and dialogue between churches and poor communities in the context of poverty in Indonesia. In the midst of a poverty situation like that which occurs in Indonesia, the church is invited to fulfill its calling. In situations like this, it is clear that the church cannot simply be a donor or Santa organization. This means that to realize its call to the poor, the church must have the courage to become a "Church of the Poor". This research was conducted using qualitative descriptive methods and critical reading of texts, namely: (1) Documents of the Second Vatican Council; (2) FABC (Federation of Asian Catholic Bishops' Conferences) documents; (3) Books about the Church of the Poor; (4) Scientific articles about the Church of the Poor. The findings in this research are that what is meant by "church of the poor" here is a church that not only fights for the poor but more than that, a church that is willing to take sides and fight with them. The church must also dare to be open, willing to accept the poor as they are, and eliminate the dividing lines between themselves and the poor so that dialogue can occur between the two. The dialogue between the church and the poor here is a dialogue of life. Dialogue of life means dialogue that is based on accepting the poor as they are and making their problems and struggles to achieve true humanity the problems and struggles of the church as well.

Abstract

This reaserch discusses the meaning of böwö or dowry in traditional Nias marriage and the Catholic Church's view. In general, böwö has a high meaning of respect for a marriage and for the family that has cared for the child. However, today the author sees that the tradition of giving böwö or dowry no longer prioritizes the original meaning of the böwö. My hypothesis is that the original meaning of the dowry or böwö in traditional Nias marriages has lost its meaning. The dowry or böwö is limited to showing one's status. Someone who can provide a large dowry or böwö is considered a mature person and automatically has a place in social life. However, for those who are unable to pay off the dowry or böwö that has been determined, they will have to pay over a long period of time, which will affect the welfare of the family. The meaning of dowry or böwö was first in line with the Catholic Church, but nowadays it is completely contradictory. Catholic marriage emphasizes the well-being of the family, but a high böwö can be a burden. In accordance with the Catholic Church's view, the author finds that today the fulfilment of böwö is facultative, as böwö is not the determinant of whether a marriage is valid or not. Family welfare is paramount in Catholic marriages.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and describe of ceremonies honouring the dead person in the adat of the Dayak Aoheng, that can be practiced in the Light of the Catholic Faith as efforts to adapt a series of ceremonies honouring the dead person. The research was conducted among the Dayak Aoheng of the Semukung sub-group, who live in Long Apari and Noha Silat Villages, Long Apari District, Mahakam Ulu Regency, East Kalimantan. This study uses a comparative qualitative method with interview data collection techniques and related document collection. The informants in this study were fifteen informants spread over two research sites. The results of the study reveal that there are several parts of the series of ceremonies honouring the dead person in the adat of the Dayak Aoheng that can be proposed for adaptation into the Liturgy of Death of the Catholic Church to enrich the Church's Liturgy and the local cultural wisdom. The series of ceremonies honouring the corpse that can be proposed for adaptation efforts are found in the series of ceremonies undertaken before the death and at the time of death, during the taking care of and caring for the corpse, during the praying for the corpse and consoling the family, and in the funeral ceremonies.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the social competence applied by Catholic Religious Teachers in three aspects, namely: 1) acting objectively and non-discriminatorily towards students, 2) communicating effectively, empathetically, politely with students, and 3) adapting to students who have social diversity and culture. The research was conducted at Barong Tongkok Catholic Junior High School, using a descriptive qualitative approach. Research data collection techniques use interview, observation, and documentation methods. There were informants in this study: the principal, teachers of Catholic religious education, students, and ordinary teachers. The results of this research show that the social competence of teachers applied by Catholic Religious Teachers is good, which is demonstrated by treating students objectively without discriminating, behaving, and acting fairly, giving equal attention and opportunities to all students. Teachers also act in accordance with their duties and functions, namely listening to the person they are talking to, speaking using standard language, being able to adapt and feel at home carrying out their duties as a teacher. In this way, the Child Friendly School Program becomes a forum for Catholic Religious Teachers to develop their social competencies well through collaboration with all school parties.

Abstract

“Merdeka Curriculum” co-curricular learning is new learning for the world of education, so all strategies are needed in implementing it. This research aims to explore the principal's strategy in implementing “merdeka curriculum” co-curricular learning at Samarinda High School. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study type of research. Three key informants were involved in collecting data for this research, namely, principal, deputy principal for curriculum, and teachers. Data collection uses observation, interviews, and documentation methods. The data analysis process is carried out through the stages of reduction, presentation and drawing conclusions. The research results show that the school principal's strategy in implementing “merdeka curriculum” co-curricular learning begins with facilitating teachers to take part in “merdeka curriculum” mentoring and training, exploring students' needs to carry out learning in the Strengthening Pancasila Student Profile Project (P5), and enriching P5 learning materials for students. The school principal's strategy in implementing “merdeka curriculum” co-curricular learning can bring about change and improvement in the character of students through the application of the six dimensions of the Pancasila student profile.

Abstract

This research aims to discover the role of the Legion of Mary as a real manifestation of service, apostolate, and enthusiasm in forming a Catholic Family as Ecclesia Domestica. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method and the data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. There were eight informants in the research. Based on the research results, it was found that members of the Legion of Mary who were married carried out their duties well, namely, being a driving force in the family, by directing, educating and being role models for their own families. They carried out all these tasks with enthusiasm, service, and the apostolate they received through the Legion of Mary and then applied them in family life. So, the activities of the Legion of Mary participate in forming the Catholic Family as the Ecclesia Domestica.

Abstract

This research aims to get an overview and describe the forms of exemplary Christian families according to the teachings of Amoris Laetitia in Santo Yoseph Long Pahangai Parish and to find challenges in providing role models to children. This research was conducted at Santo Yoseph Long Pahangai Parish using qualitative descriptive methods and the data collection techniques used were observation and interviews. The informants from this research were 12 people from marriage ages 10 to 15 years. Based on this research, it was found that parents have provided an example for their children. These forms emerge from within parents with full awareness of their responsibility as first and foremost educators. However, in implementing these forms of example, several obstacles and challenges arise from the parents and the children. The example of parents is very important for children, because everything starts at home, especially in family life. In this way, one day children will be able to follow in the footsteps of their parents' family example to prepare them for the future.

Abstract

The focus of the writing of this article is on “How the role of parents as the main catechist of the family in building a faithful young generation. The purpose of writing this article is to explore and discover how the important role of parents in religious education for children, as well as the responsibility of parents in instilling religious and moral values in children. Support from the family can strengthen the relationship between parents and children so that parents can easily play a role in teaching and fostering children's faith. In writing this article, the author used a qualitative method with a literature approach. The author found that the family is the first and main place in the growth of a child, so the role of the family is very important in fostering and educating the faith of a child. Children who are raised in a religious family are more likely to become mature people in improving their faith patterns. Family catechesis is one of the most important and evolving topics. But on the one hand, family catechesis also faces challenges. These challenges are sometimes related to lack of time, difficulty in communicating about the faith of children, the influence of outside culture, the influence of technological development, and association in the modern world. With these challenges, what is the role of parents in the family to educate and foster the faith of children to become mature religious.
