Abstract

The rapid expansion of digital financial services has transformed consumer payment behavior, particularly through the widespread adoption of Buy Now, Pay Later (Pay Later) services among Generation Z. Although Pay Later offers greater flexibility and convenience in digital transactions, its increasing utilization raises concerns regarding responsible financial decision-making. This study aims to examine the effects of Financial Literacy, Financial Self-Control, and Digital Financial Behavior on Pay Later Usage among Generation Z. A quantitative research approach was employed using a survey method involving 188 valid respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4.0. The findings reveal that Financial Literacy and Financial Self-Control do not have significant effects on Pay Later Usage. In contrast, Digital Financial Behavior has a positive and significant influence on Pay Later Usage, indicating that individuals who actively engage in digital financial activities are more likely to utilize Pay Later services. The structural model demonstrates substantial explanatory power, with an R² value of 0.793, indicating that the proposed model explains 79.3% of the variance in Pay Later Usage. These findings suggest that the adoption of Pay Later services among Generation Z is driven primarily by actual digital financial behavior rather than financial knowledge or self-regulatory capacity. This study contributes to the financial technology literature by emphasizing the importance of behavioral factors in explaining digital credit adoption and provides practical implications for policymakers, financial institutions, and fintech providers in promoting responsible digital financial behavior and sustainable Pay Later utilization.

Abstract

This study synthesises empirical evidence on the utilisation of daily workers within hotel room divisions to address the unique demands of short-escape tourism in Batam, framed comprehensively through a strategic management perspective. Following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, a systematic literature review was conducted on publications from 2022 to 2026. This core data was further supplemented by foundational literature and official regional statistics to provide necessary contextual depth. From an initial pool of 151 records, 37 duplicates were systematically removed, 114 were screened, and 49 full texts were assessed. This process ultimately resulted in 30 peer-reviewed studies for thematic synthesis, alongside 8 official documents analysed separately to ground the conceptual findings in empirical destination data. The prevailing themes identified across the literature include workforce agility (73.3%), service quality (66.7%), employee well-being (60.0%), digital scheduling (53.3%), cross-functional training (50.0%), and employment protection (43.3%). Contextually, foreign tourist arrivals in Batam surged by 48.94% between April and May 2026, yet the average length of stay in May remained exceptionally short at only 1.84 nights. This distinct visitation pattern concentrates the operational load spanning check-ins, check-outs, intensive cleaning, room status updates, and linen turnover into remarkably narrow timeframes. To navigate this volatility strategically, the study proposes the Batam Short-Escape RD-DW Strategic Model. This integrated framework encompasses demand sensing, workload segmentation, verified talent pools, competency- and risk-based matching, stringent service controls, iterative learning, and robust job protection mechanisms. Ultimately, daily workers are recommended as a complementary operational capacity rather than a core replacement. Their successful integration must be evaluated against a set of multifaceted Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including room readiness, wait times, service defects, rework rates, overtime reduction, guest satisfaction, payment reliability, and skills mobility.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the decline in the number of active motorized vehicles that occurred 2024-2025, which resulted in a decline in Motor Vehicle Tax. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of Motor Vehicle Tax at the Banjarmasin 1 Regional Revenue Service Unit and to determine the contribution of Motor Vehicle Tax at the Banjarmasin 1 Regional Revenue Service Unit office to the realization of South Kalimantan’s Original Revenue. This study used qualitative methods with probability techniques, and data were collected through interviews and observations. The results indicate that the average effectiveness of the Banjarmasin 1 Regional Revenue Service Unit for the 2023- 2025 period was 104,65% categorized as “Very Effective”. However, the Motor Vehicle Tax at the Banjarmasin 1 Regional Government Unit for the 2023-2025period was categorized as “Less” in contributing to South Kalimantan’s Regional Original Revenue. It is concluded that Motor Vehicle Tax plays a role in increasing Regional Original Revenue. However since 2025, Motor Vehicle Tax has undergone changes with the introduction of the Motor Vehicle Tax Opsen under Law No. 1 of 2022. The Financial Relations between the Central Government and Regional Governments have prevented Motor Vehicle Tax from optimally increasing Regional Original Revenue.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze how budget planning, goods and services procurement implementation, and managerial competence contribute to budget absorption in court work units within the Pati Residency area. The research adopted a quantitative method using an explanatory design to analyze the relationship among the examined variables. The primary data were obtained through questionnaires distributed to court officers who were involved in or familiar with budget planning, procurement activities, and budget management. Statistical evaluations were performed through SPSS version 29, including validity and reliability assessments followed by multiple linear regression testing. The findings reveal that budget planning does not yield a statistically significant effect on budget absorption. In contrast, the execution of goods and services procurement and managerial competence positively influence budget absorption. Collectively, the three variables explain variations in budget absorption fluctuations throughout court work units within the Pati Residency area.

Abstract

Food security is a major development issue because it directly ties to economic stability and social welfare. In Indonesia, especially on Java Island, which is the country’s economic center, government action and wealth distribution are crucial for maintaining adequate food availability and access. This research is important to provide a deeper understanding of the influence of various factors believed to influence food security on the island of Java. The factors in question are welfare, public rice consumption, government subsidies, and poverty. The aim of this study is to identify and analyze the influence of each of these variables on food security on the island of Java. This research uses a quantitative approach with panel data from all regencies and cities on Java Island, covering the period from 2018 to 2024. We obtained secondary data from official government sources and used panel regression techniques to explore how macro-level factors affect food security. We looked at statistical significance to understand the strength of each variable's impact. The results show that government food subsidies positively impact food security on Java Island. Community welfare also plays an important role, while poverty levels and per capita rice consumption do not show a meaningful relationship with food security. This research concludes that two factors influence food security in Java: community welfare and government subsidies. Both have a positive and significant impact on food security in Java.

Abstract

The electric vehicle sector is a primary arena for geoeconomic competition between the United States and China. This study analyzes China's geoeconomic interests by examining the export strategy of the electric vehicle manufacturer BYD into Mexico from 2022 to 2024. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a case study design, this research determines that Mexico currently fulfills only two of the three structural elements of a geoeconomic bridging node. Contextual positioning is achieved through USMCA membership, and Mexico has consistently attracted Chinese foreign direct investment, but coupling practices are constrained by strict rules of origin and the Inflation Reduction Act's Foreign Entity of Concern exclusion. The third element, strategic relational proximity, is fragile: in April 2024, the Mexican federal government halted incentives for Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers following direct demands from the United States Trade Representative. BYD's export expansion is a rational corporate response to domestic overcapacity and international tariff barriers rather than a mandate from Beijing, though the framework of party-state capitalism shows that BYD's commercial success advances China's broader geoeconomic interests. These findings test the limits of the bridging node concept in Latin America when confronted with the defensive mechanisms of a hegemonic state.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the mediating role of green innovation in the relationship between environmental sustainability, sustainability performance, and financial performance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Jakarta, Indonesia. Using a quantitative approach and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), the findings indicate that environmental sustainability significantly influences green innovation, which subsequently enhances sustainability performance and financial performance. These results support the Resource-Based View (RBV) framework, which posits that environmental sustainability can generate intangible resources such as organizational knowledge and capabilities that drive green innovation as a competitive advantage. Additionally, the outcomes reinforce the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) framework, emphasizing the importance of integrating social, environmental, and economic aspects to achieve holistic organizational sustainability. Specifically, green innovation acts as a vital mediator that strengthens the positive relationship between environmental sustainability and both sustainability and financial performance. The sample consists of 198 MSMEs in Jakarta, selected through stratified and simple random sampling techniques. The findings suggest that adopting green innovation strategies is essential for fostering comprehensive sustainability transparency and improving the financial performance of MSMEs in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the increasing use of Bank Mekar (PNM Mekaar) financing services by the people of Mesanggok Village, Gerung Sub-district, West Lombok Regency, as a solution to meet business capital and consumptive needs. Ease of access, the absence of physical collateral, light requirements, and the joint-liability system make this service attractive; However, the lending mechanism that imposes additional service fees raises problems from the perspective of Islamic economic law, particularly regarding the prohibition of riba and the validity of the contract. This study aims to determine the level of public understanding of the decision to borrow money from Bank Mekar and to analyze the practice from the standpoint of Islamic economic law. This is field research using a descriptive qualitative approach; data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the level of understanding of the Mesanggok community is relatively low; Borrowing decisions are based more on urgent economic needs and ease of access than on considerations of compliance with sharia principles. From the perspective of Islamic economic law, the conventional lending scheme accompanied by interest is inconsistent with the principles of muamalah because it contains the prohibited element of riba qardh, whereas the sharia scheme based on murabahah and wadiah contracts is potentially compliant insofar as it fulfills the pillars and conditions of the contract. The study recommends strengthening community sharia financial literacy so that people can make financial decisions in accordance with sharia provisions.
