Abstract

Patients with chronic kidney disease are subject to prolonged medical treatment that might affect their quality of life. The purpose of this research was to investigate the correlation between personality, coping strategies, and quality of life in patients with chronic kidney disease. 40 Participants (25-55 years old) were recruited using purposive sampling and presented with three instruments: the Indonesian versions of NEO Personality Inventory-Revised (NEO PI-R), Ways of Copings, and Kidney Disease Quality of Life-36 (KDQOL-36). Results showed a significant correlation between all variables after regression analysis was applied. Further results indicate certain coping strategies were related to an individual’s perceptions of kidney disease. A significant correlation was found between three personality traits: neuroticism, extraversion and conscientiousness, and quality of life. Results also found that female patients have a better quality of life than men. Further research is needed to examine further the crucial role of social support and ethnic differences. Psychological intervention programs to provide psychoeducation on how to recognize stress symptoms and better stress management for patients with chronic kidney disease are also warranted.

Abstract

This study used the Correlated Traits-Correlated Method (CTCM) model to identify the method effects of the Ethnic Identity Scale (EIS) items, both in favorable and unfavorable items. The study involved 4 alternative models of the CTCM to test the suitability of the model. 440 secondary-school students were involved in this study. Confirmatory Factor Analysis was used employing R software Version 4.0.2. Results indicated alignments between the data with three CTCM alternative models that provided evidence to understand the effect of the method on the use of positive and negative items that could affect the validity of a measuring instrument.

Abstract

Marketing strategies in e-commerce have a main goal, that is to pursue customer loyalty. Sociolla is an e-commerce company that sells cosmetic products and has a recommendation feature to make it easier for customers during the shopping process. These recommendations can trigger customer satisfaction and generate loyalty. The purpose of this study was to examine the correlation between online product recommendation and customer loyalty with product brokering efficiency as a mediator. 179 Sociolla customers were recruited in this study using convenience sampling. The data were analyzed using the SPSS-Process Hayes model 4. Results showed that perceived decision quality acts as a mediator in the relationship between enablers and customer loyalty (β = .20, [ .13; .27]). It can be concluded that recommendations that are comprehensive, clear, and meet the customer needs will make it easier for customers to make purchasing decisions, which ultimately leads the customers to form loyalty toward the products.

Abstract

The knowledge about how young people understand sexual consent remains scant. This study aimed to understand how the university students perceived sexual consent and the importance of consent before engaging in sexual related activities with a partner. Using explanatory sequential mixed method approach, an in-depth interview was conducted to five participants following administration of survey questionnaire to obtain a general view on the issues around sexual consent. 102 active university students at the age between 18-25 years old participated in this study. The result of the questionnaire-survey was analysed with descriptive analysis and the in-depth interview data were transcribed and were analysed using the Interpretative Phenomenology Analysis (IPA). Integration of data was done to find pattern and relation between quantitative and qualitative data. Findings from this study suggest that young people, both young men and women, perceived sexual consent as important and, therefore, should be obtained before engaging in any sexual contact. While gesture and direct communication were the common techniques on communicating consent between genders, there were still difficulties in conveying the message of consent because of the subjective feeling and norms of the society.

Abstract

The availability of instruments for seeking professional help is crucial in identifying potential delays and failures to seek mental health help. The current study aims to adapt an Indonesian version of the Attitudes toward Seeking Professional Psychological Help-Short Form (ATSPPH-SF) scale and evaluate its psychometric properties using a Rasch modeling approach. Adaptation of the Indonesian scale was carried out in collaboration with a panel of experts under the guidelines of the International Translating Commission. The psychometric evaluation involved 951 respondents (M = 243, F = 708) who participated through an online survey. The results of the Rasch modeling showed that the items of the Indonesian ATSPPH-SF had a good fit with the model. The response categories worked well and reliability was sufficient (item=1, respondent=.59, Cronbach's alpha=.67). This paper highlighted that the ATSPPH-SF Indonesia version is suggested to be valid and reliable. We concluded that ATSPPH-SF can be used in mental health professional help-seeking research in Indonesia.

Abstract

The Rorschach test is one of the psychological tests widely used in various assessment settings, including in studies related to sexual offenses. However, such research is scarce, although the level of sexual violence in Indonesia increases yearly. Sexual violence is often associated with the sexual drives that humans have in themselves. In this case, Rorschach can provide an overview of the individual's drives, ideas, and social relationships. The current study aims to find the personality profiles of sex offenders. Therefore, this study collected Rorschach data from 46 male sex offenders over 11 years in Depok City, Indonesia. Based on content analysis, this study found several prominent characteristics of sex offenders, such as exhibited difficulties in adaptation due to low intellectual capacity, poor emotional regulation, and empathy that other causes difficulty to build strong relationships with others. They also suppress sexual urges, but they were more likely to express it impulsively with low intellectual capacity and emotional regulation. These various personality characteristics possessed by sex offenders will undoubtedly impact the intervention process they go through to gain insight from their experience. The results are expected to be an input for developing interventions for sex offenders not to repeat their actions in the future.
