The quality of marriage gain the attention of researchers for a long time. Various studies have been done, by placing the marital quality as an independent variable or dependent variable. Although research on marital quality has been done for a long time with a wide range of variables, conceptually, the results are not quite satisfactory. This article aimed to describe literature review on the concept of marital quality. The literature search results define quality of marriage as the level of excellence in marriage based on certain characteristics. These particular characteristics or criteria may vary from region to region. The criteria for the quality of marriage may also differ from one period to another. The dimensions of marital quality vary widely, which can be distinguished into intrapersonal and interpersonal dimensions. Meanwhile, factors affecting the quality of marriage are differentiated into internal factors and factors related to the conjugal relationships.

Many studies in master psychology and professional psychology study programs used quasi-experimental methods, but there was no reference regarding quasi-experiments written in Indonesian. This article will fill in the blanks on reference to quasi-experimental methods. The article explains quasi-experimental design or non-randomized experimental design. According to Campbell quasi experimental design is divided into four types, namely (a) quasi-experimental design without control group or pretest, b) quasi experimental design with control group and pretest, c) time series design, and d) regression discontinuity design. Each type was broken down into a more specific design.

Abstract

Time is an abstract concept that can be understood by making an analogy or a metaphor from a more concrete concept such as a spatial construct. Previous studies found that people from different cultures and languages constructed time movement differently. In addition, the use of specific time metaphor tends to activate different type of temporal reasoning. Time metaphor studies related to Indonesian’s culture and language are still limited. Although it is known that Indonesians tend to use different temporal reasoning compare to other countries, how their time metaphors may have impact on their temporal reasoning is still unknown. It is then important to further investigate the effect of time metaphor on time reasoning particularly in different cultural contexts and how it may have impact on people behavior. This paper will discuss some findings in the topic of time metaphor and temporal reasoning, including the influence of culture on time conception.

Abstract

Dating violence (DV) has psychological impacts on the victims such as depression, trauma, anxiety, decreased self-esteem and feeling of resentment. This article aims to rediscuss the process of reconciliation and its relationship to DV victims’ inner peace. The process of psychological reconciliation would help to set the victims free from the shackle of previous abusive dating relationship. Reconciliation is defined as being able to cultivate peace within oneself. Because the victims’ problem lied in the memory of abusive experiences conducted by the violent doer, one of the proposed effective techniques that can be used in psychological reconciliation is counseling for DV victims.
