Abstract

The Tahilalats advertising comics are a differentiator from works that only aim to convey humorous messages on Instagram. An overview of advertising comics with commercial purposes is interesting because the contents of commercial advertisements for a product become a new pattern of creativity for Tahilalats creators. The object of the problem taken from the work entitled “Surprise” offers a form of negotiation between the aim of being funny and commercial advertising The Ponds Men advertisement is a promotional idea for men’s skin care products which is humorously visualized in ten comic strip panels. The series of panels is a sign structure that will be dissected in order to find the right meaning to show the persuasion message of a commercial product. The accuracy of meaning can be seen from the visualization of the text or aspects of form and context or content as part of the marking system. The marking system will be reviewed based on the sign structure of Barthes’s semiotic theory, namely lexia. The meaning analysis begins by re-reading the nine comic panels into four lexias by naming them based on the logic of meaning, not chronology. In the lexia you will find code categories used as sign dynamic rules according to Barthes based on the perception and culture of the users as interpreters including hermeneutic codes, semimic or semantic codes, symbolic codes, proairetic or action codes, and cultural codes. The code becomes the main reference showing the context in the form of a persuasive message from a Ponds Men commercial advertisement. The context of being funny can be visualized with aspects of character shape, cartoon-style expressions that are simple and simple. The supporting theory is in the form of relays and intertextuality from Julia Kristeva to review the performance of the tagging system based on caption text in the form of titles and descriptions in the Instagram Tahilalats column. In this case, it can show that the commercial message of Ponds Men’s products can be combined appropriately according to Tahilalats’ cute characterization.Keyword: advertising, comic, tahilalats, visual semiotics

Abstract

Hardanger embroidery is embroidery done on plain weave fabrics. The results of the embroidery are in the form of geometric holes. The background of this research is that hardanger embroidery appears with aesthetics an poor quality. The aim of the research was to improvw the aesthetics and quality of hardanger embroidery including a.) to determine the effect of using 1 thread on the aesthetic value and quality of hardanger embroidery b.) to determinne th effek of use 2 thread on the aesthetic value and quality of hardanger embroidery c.) to determine the effek of use 3 thread on th aesthetic value and quality of hardanger embroidery. This research was experimental research. The statistical test result with SPSS obtained significant aesthetic value of hardanger embroidery was 0.97, 0.60 and 0.61 with p<0.05 so that H0 is accepted. There is no significant effect on the aesthetics of embroidery using a different number of threads. The significant value of embroidery quality is 0.000 with p>0.05 so H0 is rejected. There is a significant effect on the quality of embroidery using a different number of thread strans. Keywords: Terawang; Aesthetic, Quality

Abstract

Labuan Bajo as a super priority, world class and super premium destination, has tourism differentiation compared to other tourist destinations, so that it attracts foreign tourists to visit. However, for backpacker tourists, seeking integrated information related to traveling to Labuan Bajo is one of the obstacles in the pre-trip process. Backpackers have to compare the cheapest prices from one application to another, so they experience difficulties in organizing trips manually. This resulted in the pre-trip process being inefficient and ineffective. Based on this description, this study aims to identify the need for backpacker travel guides to facilitate the pre-trip process effectively and efficiently. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach through distributing questionnaires, in-depth interviews, comparative studies, and literature studies. The results of filling out the questionnaire by the respondents were then analyzed using a quantitative approach. The results of the analysis state that Indonesia has many popular travel applications, but none yet accommodate backpacker problems, so a special backpacker travel application is needed to make the travel process efficient and effective.Keywords: mobile travel application, backpacker, Labuan Bajo, organise effective and efficient travel

Abstract

In the discourse of fine arts, photography is a medium for expressing the expression of its artists whose practice has been similar to other processes of art creation. Expressive photography has become more subjective than other genres such as journalistic and commercial. It is this difference that makes expression photography an interesting discourse to research from the creation process, the embodiment of the work to the presentation technique. An important element in the process of embodiment of expressive photography is the relationship between the subject, object and the value of the artist’s thoughts. The subject as a photographer/creator/artist undergoes aesthetic and artistic experiences that are heavily influenced by his own history, formal education in art schools, experience of undergoing continuous photography practice, experience of observing and seeing the development of photography both in Indonesia and western country. It is this influence that makes the subject become more mature in choosing objects so that they have value and meaning for their photography career journey as well as being wiser in choosing the stories implied in their photographic works of art. In this study, the figure of Nico darmajungen was deliberately chosen considering the criteria above in accordance with his figure. Moreover, his photography styles have brought about a change in the paradigm of photography in Indonesia. The conclusion of this study is that the aesthetic experience experienced by artists and spectators becomes a major stage before works of art are created. Aesthetic experience has stimulated the brain to create works in accordance with the artistic experience that is practiced. The stages that occur subconsciously but are always repeated in the creation of a work of art seem to be a bridge to read an artist’s creative process.Keywords: Art Photography, Nico Dharmajungen, Art Objects, Art Value, Art Subjects

Abstract

The utilizing of technology on an educational environment for the purpose of a learning is surely needed. It can be utilize as an learning media apllication based on technology. Digital comic as a multimedia derivative will be able to functioning as a learning media. A Javanese learning at the Center Java Junior High level considered as an important aspect for it contain lots of highly universal divine if it use correctly. Based on the reason an academical administrator should communicate a Javanese learning in an actractive way for the student to studied. In that way, students would have a new experience in the way they study. The nature of digital comic as an entertainment media and convienent to access make it an acctractively learning media. With the local genius content which in this case is Ramayana Saga be included in the media it will help to indoctrine the good values of Javanese to students. Abstract

A funeral home is a space where people can carry out the last rite of honor for the dead. In Indonesia, specifically for some religions or beliefs adopted by each family has a tradition where the burial is done in a funeral home with a procession of worship carried out to escort the deceased. These processes have their facilities and infrastructure. In the aspect of infrastructure, all activities that take place are located and carried out in each different room, and the aspect of facilities is the equipment used to carry out each activity in the burial process. In general, there are no specific standards that describe the standard facilities and infrastructure that must be owned by a funeral home. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to document the existing facilities and infrastructure in a funeral home so that in the future it can assist in studies relating to a funeral home. The method used in this study is the study of literature, field observations to two funeral homes, and interviews with funeral home management. The main results of this research are inventory list of the needs that are the optimal needs of the two funeral homes through the data obtained. It is hoped that the results of this study can become guidelines for further research relating to existing facilities and infrastructure at the funeral home. Abstract

The e-KTP megacorruption case in 2017 that dragged Setya Novanto made it a public conversation, including mass media like Tempo Magazine on its cover. Tempo Magazine uses illustrated images in each of its releases with distinctive characters and styles and often creates controversy. In addition, the illustrations on this cover also have various hidden meanings and codes that need to be interpreted deeply. Therefore, this study aims to explain the structure of the visual signs on the cover illustration of the “Jerat Dua” edition of Tempo Magazine. In addition, this research is also intended to reveal the codes contained in the cover illustration. This study uses a qualitative approach with an interpretive descriptive analysis. The method is visual semiotics with Roland Barthes' semiotics theory, including the structure of visual signs and the Five Codes of Barthes. The researcher concludes that the structure of the “Jerat Dua” edition of Tempo Magazine is composed from denotative signifier which change its meaning to connotative signified. The connotative meaning that appears is based on a convention, the anchoring of meaning, gestures/expressions, the use of metaphor/metonymy rhetoric, and references from reality. The codes that are revealed on the cover of this magazine include hermeneutic, semantic, proairetic, symbolic, and cultural codes. Keywords: illustration, magazine cover, visual semiotic, sign, code

Abstract

The application of Virtual Reality is used as a simulation to provide a virtual space experience. This research is focused on testing the efficiency of Virtual Reality which is used as a medium for interacting with interior space users as an effort to introduce VR as a means to present designs to users to create comfortable spaces. This study uses a qualitative method that focuses on Virtual Reality analysis with a Narrative Research approach because it will provide understanding to users in the form of visual communication which will be realized in the form of VR which is much more accurate so that users will feel more representative, giving a feeling of scale, depth and awareness. spatial. real that cannot be felt by mockups, prototypes, or miniatures. The analysis process in this study is in the form of observation and interviews to find out the user's point of view when using VR as a visual communication tool in viewing works. Then it presents several surveys in the form of open questions to users which will be followed up with secondary research to produce 3D interior simulations realized in VR form. The results of this study are to introduce simulation media for users and interior designers so that they can interact and experience new interior spaces virtually. Abstract

Pekalongan City, located in Central Java, is known as the World's City of Batik because almost most of its people's economy is grown by the batik industry. In its journey, the diversity of Pekalongan Batik motifs comes from the results of cultural acculturation, including Indian, Arabic, Dutch, Peranakan Chinese, and Japanese. This cultural acculturation process can occur because Pekalongan City is located on the North Coast of Java, which has become an inter-island trade traffic in the archipelago. Semiotics aims to interpret the meaning contained in a sign. The method used is the semiotic approach by Charles Sanders Pierce through the Triangle of Meaning Theory which explores how meaning arises from a sign when the sign is used to communicate. The purpose of this research is to examine some of the iconic motifs of Pekalongan Batik resulting from the process of cultural acculturation in which each object has a meaning or meaning drawn from a sign.
