Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate and clarify the effect of Indonesian honey, two types of Japanese honey and hydrocolloid dressing on wound healing process. Four groups of male mice were treated to produce two circular full-thickness skin wounds on the dorsum. They were then randomly allocated to receive daily Indonesian honey, Japanese honey (Buckwheat and Acacia honey) or hydrocolloid dressing as a control for treatment application. Macroscopic findings were observed from day 0 to 14 after wounding. Microscopic evaluation was assessed using qualitative analysis. The ratios of wound areas for honey groups on day 3 and 7 were smaller than those of the control group. Wound areas of honey groups gradually decreased to almost the same wound area as the control group on day 14, while the wound area of the control group peaked on day 5 and rapidly decreased until day 14. Microscopic finding that Indonesian honey was different with Japanese honey especially Buckwheat honey.

Abstract

Evidence-based is a very effective strategy to improve the quality of midwifery services. One of the most frequently problems faced is the gap between midwifery practices that are in accordance with the procedures (based on evidence-based) with clinical care practices that occur in the clinic. The purpose of this study was to explore in-depth the obstacles to the implementation of evidence-based normal childbirth, which are the position of delivery, monitoring and documenting delivery by using partographs in the Independent Practice of Midwives of Gunungkidul District, Yogyakarta. This research was a qualitative research with a phenomenological descriptive approach. The participants of this study were midwives who had the Independent Midwife Practice (PMB) consisting of 7 informants. Participant selection in this study used a purposive sampling technique with convenience sampling and identification of obstacles used was the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR). Data collection used was semi-structured interviews and observations. Data analysis used was a thematic analysis. The interview and observation of delivery assistance is done at the Independent Midwife Practice Center (PMB). The position of delivery that was often used by patients was lithotomy and left slant, and the application of evidence-based monitoring and documentation using partograph was still not optimal. This was because there were several obstacles in its application, which were obstacles from patients, families, midwives, and obstacles from the organization. The impact of these obstacles was that it can reduce the quality of obstetric care in patients according to evidence-based. The evaluation of clinical practice based on evidence-based by the organization and the existence of feedback from patients to midwives are expected to improve the quality of service to patients.

Abstract

Backgroud: Anemia initially begins with low hemoglobin with respect to the number and quality of healthy red blood cells decrease. It thereby reduces the oxygen transported in the tissues.  Anemia is one of the main causes of maternal morbidity and mortality, especially in developing countries. During pregnancy, the expansion of red blood cell mass increases oxygen transport and iron transfer to the placenta and the fetus. Purpose:  This study seeks to determine the factors associated with the prevalence of anemia in pregnant women. Method: The method used consisted of five stages of the identification of scooping review questions with the PEOS framework (Population, Exposure, Outcomes, Study). The identification of relevant articles was carried out usingdatabases such as Wiley Online Library, PubMed, andProQuest. Article selection employedThe Joana Briggs Institute, data charting as well as arranging, summarizing, and reporting the results. Results: From 105 articles, 44 articles with relevant titles and abstracts were obtained. 9 articles met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Five factors associated with the prevalence of anemia in pregnancy were found. They are maternal age, gestational age, parity, birth spacing, and socioeconomic factor. Conclusion: This study concludes that five factors associated with the prevalence of anemia among pregnant women are maternal age, gestational age, parity, birth spacing, and socio-economic factor.

Abstract

Low coverage of EBF is a global public health problem. Employment has been recognized as a factor that contributes to additional problems of EBF practice among women employees in Indonesia as they work more than 8 hours per day. In Indonesia, about 200,000 industrial companies which employed women in their production activities and they give only 3 months maternity leave. As a result, the coverage of EBF among industrial remains low. While policies already exist, the technical guidelines on the interventions are not well implemented due to unpractical approaches on these guidelines. This dissertation aims to analyse the interventions to address barriers of EBF in order to increase EBF coverage among industrial women employees in Indonesia. This is an in depth study using secondary data to review best practices to increase low coverage of EBF among industrial women employees. Propose of the study was to provide recommendations that could be implemented in Indonesian setting. The study show that there are three group level barriers i.e individual, group and social-culture contributed to low coverage of EBF. The analysis revealed that work place intervention such as lactation program and increasing employers’ awareness on breastfeeding are effective in implementation and feasible to be implemented in Indonesia. Another intervention is personal intervention i.e prenatal planning and preparation, job sharing and day care. It is recommended that those two interventions could be implanted simultaneously to address the barriers of EBF practice among industrial women employees in Indonesia.

Abstract

Adolescent pregnancy is defined as a pregnancy between the ages of 13-19 years, adolescent pregnancy occurs around 25% of women worldwide, but this number continues to decline due to educational support, contraception and prevention strategies for adolescent pregnancy. Evidence shows that there were programme interventions to reduce adolescent pregnancy such as encouraging people to participate in comprehensive prevention of adolescent pregnancy programs and health campaign to avoid unsafe sexual relationships. This scoping review was aimed to map out available evidence related to the parents’ involvement and barriers of programme intervention to reduce adolescent pregnancy. This scoping review followed the framework of Arksey and O'Malley, which consists of identifying the review questions; look for relevant evidence; selecting relevant studies; maping the data; and medicate, conclude and report results. PRISMA flowchart was used to display the evidence search flow. The results of the review indicated that there were 12 included articles from the search process. This review emerged 3 themes: efforts to reduce adolescent pregnancy rates, support for adolescent reproductive health services, barriers to reproductive health services for adolescents. It is important encouragage people to participate in comprehensive adolescent pregnancy prevention programs in including provision of information about the dangers of adolescents’ pregnancy, reproductive health, and maintain positive relationship with the family.
