Abstract

This research was conducted in the fourth grade class of Public Elementary School 1 of Mrawan Jember with the purpose of investigating the application of inquiry instructional method to improve the fourth grade student's motivation and learning achievement in Social Science subject concerning Product, Communication, and Transportation Technology. The study was backgrounded by the fact that the students’ learning motivation and learning achievement in the very subject were rather low. The study applied Classroom Action Research (SAC), which was conducted in two cycles carried on for three meetings, through four stages, including planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this research were fourth grade students with the total number of 39 students. Data collection methods applied in this research were observation, interview, documentation, and test. Data Analysis in this research was descriptive qualitative in nature. Based on the results of research, the scores of students’  motivation in the first to the second cycle were 79 (high category) and 88,43% (very high category), subsequent to 9,43% increase, respectively. Based on the analysis on students’ learning achievement, improvement was also evident in that in the first cycle reached they reached 60,1 (medium/enough category) and in the second cycle they gained 81,3 ( very good category).

Abstract

The processed image is defined as a series of images of objects, events or phenomena, which the images of one and another are relatively different in terms of circumstances, position, shape, or their combinations, as a whole describes a coherent phase and a unified whole. The aim of this research is to produce a module based on process image that appropriates for independently learning mechanics (circular motion) of students in senior high school. The appropriateness of the module is shown by validity, effectivity, and practicality of the module as a printed media that suit for learning of circular motion in high school. This research is a research and development, by using Four-D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) design. The subject of this research is students class XI senior high school. This time, we still work in two stages (define and design), so we have produced the module hypothetically.

Abstract

The use of instructional method is very important for education. The Appropriate instructional methods for the characteristics of learning materials will help teachers and students reach the targeted aim of competencies. This research aims to analyze the use of instructional methods used in secondary school on environmental learning. This analysis is very useful in giving real-representatives potrait and the impact of the use of instructional methods toward students’ performance. Data were analyzed qualitatively in accordance with the Miles &Huberman. The data collection methods are an observation of learning activity, indepth interviews with teachers and student learning outcomes documentation in SMP 13 Magelang, one of developing secondary schools in Indonesia. The results showed that the use of instructional methods has not been suitable for characteristics of the learning materials and students’ characteristics. Teachers should choose instructional methods that will make easier for students to understand the concept. Instructional methods that are often used by teachers is lecture and discussion method. The result is poor performance of student learning. The root cause of the mismatch instructional method with the characteristics of material is insufficient time allocation that will affect teacher’s teaching and learning strategy

Abstract

This research is aimed to develop multiple intelligences-based thematic comic module. This research used research and development approach Dick Carey and Carey model. The procedures of the module development are: (1) identifying learning objectives, (2) learning analysis, (3) students and context analysis, (4) formulating specific learning objectives, (5) developing assessment instrument, (6) developing learning strategy, (7) developing and choosing learning material, (8) designing and conducting learning formative evaluation, (9) revising learning material. This research has been conducted up to the seventh step that is developing and choosing learning material. The results of this step are: (1) student’s module design, (2) teacher’s guideline design. This student module entitled multiple intelligences-based thematic comic module with environment theme that consists of three sub-theme, they are: (1) family environment, (2) school environment), (3) society environment. The component consists of: opening (title, foreword, user guidelines, module part, character introduction, and content list), main part (concept map, news, and expectation box), and learning (material exploration, let’s practice, assignment, conclusion, independent test, module final test) and the final part (mini vocabulary, assessment guide, bibliography). Teachers’ guide consists of: (1) foreword, (2) teacher’s guidelines, (3) teacher’s role in using the module, (4) fifth grade SKL and KI, (5) multiple intelligences mapping, (6) content list, (7) first sub-theme mapping, (8) second sub-theme mapping, (9) third sub-theme mapping, (10) bibliography, (11) module final test, (12) key answers and scoring.

Abstract

This study aims to review the dynamics of the fluid in the flow Damarwulan waterfall as material to design student worksheets in physics high school. This type of research is descriptive. The results showed that the water flow speed in the cross sectional area of 7,167 cm2 and 2,876.2 cm2 was 4.7 cm/s and 14.1 cm/s. Measurements on another stream with a cross sectional area of 4,752 cm2 and 1,697.5 cm2 current rate is 9.4 cm/s and 28.2 cm/s. While the water flow speed in the waterfall show at a height of 5.49 m and 3.01 m is 10.37 m/s and 7.68 m/s. The density rate waterfall A and B of 1.05 m3/s and 0.78 m3/s so potential micro hydro generated is 56,866.765 W and 23,117.44 W. The results of research conducted that data in accordance with the theory, so can be used as the material for designing student worksheets for learning physics in high school.
