Abstract

The first step to the process of Garut Sheep development can be started by selection, which is an action to select livestock that is considered good and has the genetic potential to be developed further. The weights of weaning weight and the increase of body weight can be used as a parameter for selection because it is considered to have high economic value so that it can be a determinant of productivity level. The purpose of this research is to know the average of weaning and daily gain. The research was conducted at UPTD BPPTDK Margawati on 21-27 August 2017. The object of research used was Garut sheep from weaning to 8 months old. The research method used a retrospective descriptive method with data collection conducted by purposive sampling. Based on the results and discussion can be concluded that the average weight of wean Garut Sheep at UPTD BPPTDK Margawati in 2014-2016 is 11.56±2.15 kilogram. The average weight gain Garut Sheep from weaning up to age 8 months in UPTD BPPTDK Margawati in 2014-2016 is 45.85±8.15 gram/head/day.

Abstract

Garut District is one of Pasundan Cows Population in West Java, The modus of population is the south coast. The aim of the research is to determinate about dispersion population of Pasundan cows at Garut District based on geographic condition themselves and migration pattern them. The research was done from  December 2019 until January 2020 at basic population area. The method using is descriptive, so survey was done on area basic population based on topography, agronomy, temperature, rainfall, humidity and hydrology. The result of this research is the dispersion population of Pasundan Cows at Cibalong, Pameungpeuk and Cikelet sub district that have villages with sloping and flat topography (land slope  under 450) on height from sea level under 500 hsl, air temperature 25-32 ºC  on rain fall 2000-25000 mm/year. Their climatology adapted with agro climatology and hydrology on grazing. The hydrology is influenced Cikaso, Cibaluk and Cieurih River. Mekarmukti and Caringin Sub District are not basic population of Pasundan Cows, because two area is a exclusive gardeners. The migration among animal is influenced geographic condition it. Conclusion of this research is dispersion of Pasundan Cows Population is influenced the geographic condition, as agro climatology, topography, temperature, rainfall, humidity and hydrology that enveloping grazing area.

Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate the fertility of swamp buffalo synchronized by prostaglandin administration prior to both natural mating and artificial inse-mination (AI). Thirty six swamp buffalo cows were intramuscularly injected by 35 mg prostaglandin (Lutalyse®, Pfizer, Puurs, Belgium) twice in eleven consecutive days. The buffaloes that exhibit estrous signs allotted into 2 treatments i.e. T1 (natural mating) and T2 (AI). Next to second prostaglandin injection, T1 cows were caged together with bull at 72 h for 2 d, and T2 cows were artificially inseminated at 72 h and 96 h. All cows were observed for next estrous emergence determining non return status. Pregnancy was examined 60 days after insemination by recto-vaginal palpation. The variables measured were non return rate (NRR) and concep-tion rate (CR), analyzed statistically using chi-square test. The results showed that NRR and CR of T1 and T2 had no significant difference. The NRR of T1 and T2 were 88.9% and 83.3% respectively, CR were 72.2% (T1) and 55.6% (T2). In conclusion, natural mating and AI give equal fertility to estrous synchronized swamp buffalo.

Abstract

The aims of the research was to determine the effect of antioxidants addition on liquid semen quality of young ram and knowing which antioxidants have the most excellent effect. The research was conducted experimentally with completely randomized design (CRD). There were three treatments, that were P0 = semen added diluent without the addition of antioxidants as a control, P1 = semen added diluent have been added 9,3 mM glutathione, P2 = semen added diluent have been added 9,3 mM alpha tocopherol. Each treatment was repeated six times. The parameters consist of sperm motility and intact plasma membrane (IPM). The result showed that the addition of antioxidants can maintain liquid semen motility of young ram on day 6, 9, and 11, while addition of antioxidant has no significant effect on IPM. Result showed that glutathion is the best antioxidants that can maintain motility on day 6, 9 and 11 is glutathione with the average 72,28%, 62,47%, and 54,43%, nevertheless for alpha tocopherol with average 58,11%, 48,13%, and 41,95% gave result is not significant to P0 motility with average 62,29%, 53,08%, and 42,36%. It is concluded that addition of antioxidant can maintain liquid semen motility on day 6, 9, and 11 but can not give effect to the IPM, and the addition of antioxidant glutathione give the most excellent effect to liquid semen motility.

Abstract

The aims of this study was to determine the right time for breeding after hormonal induction with the application of Artificial Insemination to increase pregnancy. The research material were 20 local goat. Estrous synchronization technique is performed using an intravaginal implant of EAZI-BREED ™ CIDR®, then injecting Pregnecol TM serum Gonadotrophin 400 IU intramuscularly 48 hours before the removal of EAZI-BREED ™ CIDR®. The length of intravaginal implant of EAZI-BREED ™ CIDR® is divided into two groups, 8 (A) and 16 (B) days. To analyze the hormone progesterone (P) blood samples are taken once every twelve hours to 72 hours after the removal of EAZI-BREED ™ CIDR®. Artificial insemination is done by cervical technique using frozen semen. The results of the research showed that estrous synchronization with the duration of intravaginal implant EAZI-BREED ™ CIDR® in the two groups was not significantly difference in terms of response, onset or duration of estrus. However, the percentage of pregnancy rate after insemination was different, where the pregnancy rate in group A was lower than group B (37.50 vs 50.00%).
