Abstract

Travel distance has a significant role in warehousing productivity. One way to calculate travel distance is to use analytical method, in term of average travel distance. Routing strategy implemented, S-shape / traversal strategy and Return strategy, random storage method are used in this paper at PT.GMS. The components of average travel distance are used to calculate: traveling distance from the depot to the first pick aisle, traveling distance through subaisle with picks, correction of travel distance for turns within subaisle, traveling distance in the cross aisle while picking, traveling distance back to the depot if all picks in one block, and total average travel distance. The results show the total average travel distance using S-shape is 41.4095 meter and return strategy is 45.7165 meter.

Abstract

PT XYZ is one of the company which refers to furniture industries sector. The problem which faced by this company is unbalance of the production line which is caused by the unequal of work responsibility distribution in each work station. This problem caused the performance of line balance doesn’t work properly. To solve this problem we need to do the line balancing of production line. It can be done by line balancing methode that assigns a number of work which is related in one production line until each work station has efficient time which is not more than the cycle time of the work station. Line balancing methode that used is heuristic methode which is devided into ranked positional weight methode, large candidate rule methode, and region approach methode. From those three heuristic methode that used as solution of line balancing, there was improvement happenned with the same value in doors of production line. Line efficiency increased into 94,07% from 62,71% at the beginning condition. Balance delay increased into 5,92% from 37,28% at the beginning condition. The idle time descreased into 12,39 minutes from 116,87 minutes at the beginning condition. The smoothness index descreased into 7,44 from 64,67 at the beginning condition.

Abstract

Production activities which are conducted by some companies still use a lot of material inventory that production activities can run smoothly, but this condition is not considered optimal because many sources in the plant, so the investment is only in use for material. Ordering a material is not supported by data appropriately in product demand, it will make inventory of raw materials can not be sure so that the material is sometimes a lot and sometimes run out. The use of labor and production facilities are not accordance with demand, finally the production activities are not effective and efficient. Resources owned by the company must to be known in detail, so that the company can use capabilities of existing resources optimally. Company to achieve product demand should know the productive capacity, so that the ability of the company’s production targets can be achieved optimally, by measuring standard time at work operations and determine performance rating for each operator. In determining the demand for the product the next period using the method of linear regression forecasting the number of types of product demand of 1278 kg. Material requirements planning (MRP) orders can be made on day 7 of each month in accordance with the number of each type of raw material.

Abstract

The A3 concept is one of the Toyota tools to propose problem-solving solutions. A3 provides status reports of ongoing activities. This research applies A3 concept to solve reject problem in plastic company assembling process. The reject rate in the assembly process is 15.6%. The implementation stage of A3 concept is identification of problem, targeting, root cause, goal setting, countermeasure, implementation plan, action and follow up. The A3 concept is in line with the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) process improvement cycle. The results show that using the concept of A3 can reduce the reject Assembly effectively and precisely.

The purpose of this study was to examine the fitness of the proposed model with data in the field, as well as to know the relationship between these factors. Data were collected through questionnaire using likert scale 1-5 on 112 respondents from a manufacturing company in Cilegon, Banten. Modeling was done using residual correlation and regression of knowledge sharing indicators and indicator of knowledge management team function. It showed the appropriate result but not yet reached the expected value of Chi-Square of 73.502 with p = 0.010, GFI = 0.907, RMSEA = 0.069, AGFI = 0.848, and RMR = 0.041. Overall the modified model shows results that match the criteria of Goodness of Fit. The results of model analysis also showed that there was an indirect influence of leadership variables on technology infrastructure, through cultural mediators and organizational structures, but direct influence of the leadership on the technology infrastructure was not explained.
