Abstract

Abstract: No religion could ever deny the fact that there is an element of religious plurality and its influences in a plural society. Each religion possesses a claim on the finality or uniqueness of the Lord they worship and believe in. Among the Christians living in a Christian majority society, the topic of "the finality of Christ and Christianity" is no of an interest to them. This is because they are living in a "safe zone". However, where they are a minority in a society such topic is taboo and they are prohibited to talk about it for fear of "intimidation" from the majority. This article is written with the view of putting forwards four arguments on the claim of "the finality of Christianity". These are namely psychological, theological, missiological, and historical. These arguments give some implications to strengthen the faith of Christians and thereby to cause them to be more passionate in loving their God and neighbours.

Abstract

Abstract: The presence of sin effects extraordinarily to the human’s personality and the relationship to God. The sin radically changes the history, mission, and the purpose of human. The reality of sin brings the effect and the bad consequence to the human, so that the human willingly takes sides to sin and disobey to God’s commandment. Finally, the sin governs over the human. This is such a huge and deathly tragedy. The effect of sin is so deep and fatal. That happens because it’s against to the person and character of God. All things that have no harmony to the person and character of God is sin (2 Corinthians 4:4; Ephesians 4:18; Romans 1:18; 3:20). In the stupidity and pseudo piety, human has a lot of ways to try to bribe God, so that the harmonius fellowship can be rebuilt. There are some people torture themselves and spread out their richness. The Bible says that the human’s effort to restore the broken relationship is useless. The fact is, the restoration is started from God Himself. Therefore, 2000 years ago, God incarnated Himself in Christ Jesus, dead on the cross, rose from the death, and ascended up to heaven as the only restorative way between God and human. Paul in Ephesians 2:11-12 explains clearly about the restoration of Christ.

Abstract

Abstract: Without the death of Jesus Christ, there will be no forgiveness of sins nor the eternal salvation for human. The salvation that happens, cannot be separated from the faith of believers to Christ, for what He has done on the cross. By the grace of His forgiveness, the sinful people experience the freedom, which is the restorative key towards the broken relationship between God and human. What Christ has done should be the model for believers in forgivining themselves, also accepting and giving forgiveness. In fact, it needs big effort in forgiving, because of the complex reason. Not only the unbelievers, but also the believers, more than that, God’s servants that have been serving, do not want to give forgiveness to others, which gives impact to the ministry itself. A lot of people are dissapointed, and some leave their faith to Jesus Christ, because they don’t understand the meaning of Christ’s forgiveness through His death in their lives. The unwillingness in forgiving causes the unfinished conflict, and at the end, there will be no harmony between one to another. The forgiveness of God in and through Christ Jesus is totally perfect and enough for human. God’s forgiveness is total, and does’t talk about the sin in the past anymore. The forgiveness that is given by God in and through Jesus Christ is the foundation and model for the forgiveness of believers. The unlimited and perfect forgiveness of Jesus Christ enabled believers in forgiving others.

Abstract

Abstract: Church is an institution that is established by God in the world with a purpose, that the church does its duty. But in reality, a lot of churches are not functioning as church anymore, because they are trapped with many activities that have no connection with the duty of the church itself. The duty of the church is ignored, but some activities that look like the duty are many. This article contains of the contemporary church’s problems, designed with a purpose to bring the identity of the church, so that the church goes back to its function. Church is sent by God to the world with a purpose as the instrument of God’s mission, so the church, its function and activities must return to the original calling of the church.

Abstract

Abstract: Calvin was not the first and only person who have preceded the doctrine of predestination, because in his writings he used much of Augustine’s argument to explain the problem of predestination. If predestination is often identified with Calvin it is because he provides a more comprehensive and complete explanation of this doctrine. Predestination is totally God’s deed that by His omniscience, He choose some people to be saved, not because of their good deeds. It talks about God’s ultimate decree about the salvation. In other word, predestination is God’s eternal deed, that by His sovereignty choosing some people to get the grace of salvation, by not counting their merits nor good deeds and some people had been decided to be punished because of their sins.

Abstract

Abstract: How is the christian’s opinion? Should we obey more to the state or to the church? Of course, we must always obey to God, but this does not mean that we neglect our obedience to the social-human institutions, such as a state. Calvin said “the State institution it self is actually a manifestation of our human social nature established by God. In their respective areas, the state and the church are two autonomous entities. However, as public institutions they are related to each other, thus to a certain extent they are not opposed to each other.” In this case, the church has the obligation to support and assist the state, that means, the church cooperates with the state (i.e. the government) to realize the society welfare. Therefore, relation between the church with the state can be applied as the pattern of mission in the church ministry. It’s similar with Calvin’s statement in his theology about the practice of church ministry in the society community.

Abstract

Abstract: There’s no other Gospel! There is only one Gospel! Understanding the Gospel that it has the highest value brings the church to put the Gospel as the center of it. It’s not just knowing about the Gospel, but makes it being carved, planted, and rooted in the life of believer. The problem is the supremacy of the Gospel is not clear enough in the church, nor any organizations now. Finally, there are a lot of teachings that enter into the church and try to destroy the authority of the Bible and change its core. If it’s so, how the church will be? Looking at that phenomenon, we must go back to what the Bible says about the Gospel. Specifically in this journal, the writer explains about the supremacy of the Gospel based on Galatians 1:1-10.

Abstract

Abstract: The link of Matthew 1:1-17 with the mission of Christ's coming into the world and evangelism, is a title of writing that expected to excite the evangelical spirit for believers. The compilation of the articles is based on the results of research and literature studies that explore the history of the writing, the use of terms, symbols, limitations, and the compilation of a list of related names in genealogy of Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:1-17). Furthermore, by discovering its theological meaning, we can assemble the framework of missionary proclamation of Christ's coming into the world in evangelistic efforts.
