Abstract

Kepahiang District Court Decision Number 129/Pid.Sus/2021/PN Kph analyzed the application of electronic evidence in the investigation of online prostitution through the MiChat application by the Kepahiang Police. Defendants Sanelia Amelia and Monicxa Caroline were proven to have violated Article 45 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 27 paragraph (1) of Law No. 19 of 2016 concerning ITE in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1)¹ of the Criminal Code, with a prison sentence of 1 year and 3 months each. The main evidence includes the MiChat status ("open booking" of PSK), Messenger/WhatsApp chat, and digital forensics of the Oppo A12 cellphone which confirmed the communication history and distribution of information violating morality. This normative legal research shows the effectiveness of electronic evidence equivalent to Article 184 of the Criminal Procedure Code in conjunction with Articles 5 & 44 of the ITE Law, through chain of custody verification and forensic expert testimony. Challenges include the potential for data manipulation, overcome by the Digital Evidence First Responder method. This ruling strengthens the jurisprudence of cyber evidence in Indonesia, emphasizing the increased capacity of investigators for similar cases. The analysis focused on the role of electronic evidence such as status updates on the MiChat app containing codes offering sexual services, Messenger and WhatsApp conversation histories proving collaboration between the perpetrators, and digital photos used as "offered goods." This electronic evidence, obtained through digital forensic examination, served as the basis for the Panel of Judges' conclusion that the elements of "distributing, transmitting, and/or making accessible electronic information containing indecent content" were met.

Abstract

This study was conducted to gain a better understanding of how tax avoidance and leverage affect the profitability of real estate and building construction sub-sector companies listed on the IDX from 2020 to 2023. A quantitative method based on multiple linear regression analysis was used in this work. The researcher compiled a sample of 36 companies with 144 observations using secondary data obtained from the IDX website. The sample was intended to represent the real estate property and building development industry and comprised of financial statements from 92 companies. There was no significant effect of ETR or DER on ROA, either alone or in combination, according to the results of this study. This is due to factors related to companies not fully implementing a strategy for balanced tax and leverage. This is in line with concerns voiced by those in the know.

Abstract

Short-video platforms such as TikTok have demonstrated exceptional capacity to generate audience engagement; however, translating such engagement into measurable conversion outcomes remains a persistent challenge. This study investigates the engagement–conversion gap by integrating the AISAS (Attention–Interest–Search–Action–Share) framework with the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to explain user drop-off in short-video marketing funnels. Adopting an explanatory mixed-methods design, this research draws on TikTok analytics, website traffic data, booking records, survey responses, and internal interviews from a service-based business in Indonesia. The findings indicate that TikTok content successfully generates Attention and Interest but exhibits limited progression to Search and Action stages. Although users report high perceived usefulness, entertainment value, and booking intention, inconsistent call-to-action (CTA) execution and cross-platform friction significantly constrain conversion outcomes. By integrating AISAS and TAM, this study contributes a multi-level explanation of conversion drop-off that combines perceptual, behavioral, and structural dimensions. The findings highlight that engagement intensity alone is insufficient for conversion and underscore the importance of funnel continuity in short-video marketing.

Abstract

This study evaluates a pilot-scale constructed wetland for treating nickel mine wastewater from Watulabu Pond using combinations of Phragmites australis, Typha latifolia, and Chrysopogon zizanioides grown on topsoil and nickel slag–amended substrates. A mixed quantitative–qualitative approach was applied to assess technical performance (removal of TSS, Ni, and Cr⁶⁺), economic feasibility (operational costs relative to chemical treatment), and alignment with Indonesian environmental regulations for the nickel mining sector. All three macrophytes acclimatized well to nickel‑rich wastewater, but vetiver grass showed the strongest physiological response, with the highest plant height growth rate (1.00 cm/day) and vigorous tiller formation during 14 days of operation. Initial Cr⁶⁺ and total Cr concentrations of 1.73 mg/L and 1.99 mg/L (approximately 17× and 4× above national standards) were substantially reduced, with vetiver lowering Cr⁶⁺ and total Cr to 0.07 mg/L and 0.18 mg/L, respectively, both below discharge limits. TSS decreased from 350 mg/L to as low as 4.5–8.0 mg/L in topsoil‑based systems, corresponding to removal efficiencies up to 98.31%, while Fe and Ni removals consistently exceeded 90% in vegetated reactors. Vetiver achieved the highest metal removal efficiencies (Cr⁶⁺ 96.19%, total Cr 90.98%, total Fe 95.84%, total Ni 96.02%) and the greatest removal rates (0.111 mg/L/day for Cr⁶⁺ and 0.121 mg/L/day for total Cr), supported by very high Bioconcentration Factor values for total Cr (7,272.87) and Cr⁶⁺ (134.37), indicating exceptional root accumulation. In contrast, nickel slag–amended media showed lower accumulation capacity and, in some cases, negative removal for Cr species, suggesting chromium leaching and confirming pure topsoil as the more suitable substrate. Operational cost analysis revealed that the constructed wetland reduced treatment costs from IDR 2,300 to IDR 750 per m³ (≈67% savings) compared with manual chemical dosing, while producing effluents that meet national standards for TSS, Ni, and Cr in the best configurations. Overall, the findings demonstrate that appropriately designed constructed wetlands—particularly those using vetiver on topsoil—can simultaneously achieve high removal of Cr⁶⁺, Ni, Fe, and TSS, lower operating costs, and improve regulatory compliance, offering a technically robust and economically attractive option for sustainable nickel mine wastewater management in Indonesia.

Abstract

The screening of the viability of educational ventures in developing economies poses special challenges that demand the combination of many analytical perspectives. Although strategic management and financial evaluation frameworks are two distinct fields, little study has shown how the two frameworks are systematically combined to apply in educational entrepreneurship. This paper presents and empirically validates an overall feasibility model incorporating resource-based perspective (VRIO analysis), market validation approach, capital budgeting techniques and multi-scenario risk analysis. The model is used to assess the proposal to establish an integrated Islamic school in East Jakarta, Indonesia that is a booming education market where the network of JSIT schools has grown by 100 to more than 2,300 schools since 2003. Based on the mixed-method approach and purposive sampling of five information-rich cases and secondary data gathering within the government statistics, the study indicates the use of the framework in four dimensions of feasibility. Results indicate: (1) market feasibility was confirmed by the use of thematic analysis, which indicated that 100 percent of respondents cited commute burden as a critical pain point with 80 percent high purchase intent; (2) organizational feasibility was confirmed by the use of VRIO-identified sustained competitive advantages debt-free capital structure and secured strategic location; (3) financial feasibility was confirmed by NPV of IDR 8.93 billion, IRR of 26.28 percent exceeding 14 percent WACC, 4.83-year The study is a contribution of an operationalizable integrated model between theory of strategic management and financial evaluation practice on assessment of educational venture in new markets.

Abstract

This research paper examines the 2020 to 2024 financial performance of PT Total Bangun Persada Tbk through an integrated analytical framework. By integrating external environment analysis, industry structure analysis, and internal financial diagnostics, the research aims to measure the sustainability of the performance of the firm. The research utilizes a quantitative case study research design relying on secondary data acquired through audited consolidated financial statements and annual reports. PESTEL analysis and Porter’s Five Forces framework are used to capture macro-environmental and industry-level factors. Internal financial performance is assessed through financial ratio analysis that includes profitability, liquidity, solvency, and activity ratios, and is supplemented by DuPont analysis to determine the structural determinants of return on equity. Moreover, Piotroski F-Score model is used to evaluate how strong are the financial fundamentals of the firm. The findings suggest that PT Total Bangun Persada Tbk has remained resilient in financial performance over the period of observation, despite in a very competitive construction sector. Profitability was consistently positive and enhanced in later years, with sound liquidity management, balanced capital structure, and rising efficiency in operations. Using DuPont analysis, it can be seen that the increase in returns on equity was largely due to operational performance and not leverage. Additionally, the outcomes of 6.40 Piotroski F-Score show moderate-strong financial fundamentals, implying that earnings quality and financial discipline are sustainable. Generally, the results indicate that the financial performance of PT Total Bangun Persada Tbk is healthy and sustainable in the face of tough industry conditions. The research paper contributes to the financial performance literature by incorporation of external environmental analysis and firm-level financial assessment in the Indonesian construction industry.

Abstract

The crime of sexual exploitation of children is a serious crime that violates the dignity, honor, and human rights of children as part of the nation's future generation. Children are a vulnerable group that requires special legal protection, as emphasized in Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection. This study aims to analyze the legal regulations regarding the crime of sexual exploitation of children, the application of the law in Decision Number 109/Pid.Sus/2024/PN.Jkt.Sel, as well as obstacles and solutions in law enforcement in Indonesia. The research method used is normative juridical with a statutory and case approach. Data were obtained through a literature study of laws and regulations, legal literature, and analysis of court decisions that are the object of the study. The results of the study indicate that the crime of sexual exploitation of children has been expressly regulated in Article 76D and Article 76E in conjunction with Article 76E. Article 81 and Article 82 of the Child Protection Law, with a maximum prison sentence of 15 years and a maximum fine of IDR 5,000,000,000. In Decision Number 109/Pid.Sus/2024/PN.Jkt.Sel, the Panel of Judges declared the defendant legally and convincingly proven to have committed sexual exploitation of children, thus imposing a prison sentence in accordance with applicable provisions. The judge's considerations were based on evidence in the form of witness statements, victim statements, evidence, and the defendant's statement that were mutually consistent, in accordance with the evidentiary system in the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). The conclusion of this study is that the application of the Child Protection Law in cases of sexual exploitation of children has been carried out in accordance with the provisions, although in practice there are still obstacles, such as limited psychological assistance for victims, lack of public understanding, and cultural factors that often make victims reluctant to report.
