Abstract

Establishing healthy eating habits during childhood is crucial for long-term well-being, yet many elementary school students struggle to distinguish between nutritious and unhealthy food options. Traditional teaching methods often fail to engage young learners effectively on this topic. This study aims to explore the implementation and effectiveness of using flashcards as an interactive instructional tool to teach healthy and unhealthy food concepts to fifth-grade students at SDI Mohammad Hatta. A qualitative research design was employed to gain a deeper understanding of the learning process. Data were gathered through participatory classroom observations, semi-structured interviews with the students, and open-ended questionnaires administered to 25 fifth-grade participants. The collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis, focusing on student engagement, comprehension, and behavioral intentions. The findings revealed that the integration of flashcards significantly enhanced students' enthusiasm and active participation during the health lesson. The visual and gamified nature of flashcards helped students easily categorize various food items, improving their conceptual understanding of nutrition. Furthermore, qualitative responses indicated a positive shift in students' attitudes, with many expressing a strong intent to reduce junk food consumption and choose healthier snacks. In conclusion, flashcards serve as an effective, low-cost, and engaging pedagogical tool for nutrition education in elementary schools.

Abstract

Digital educational discourse is increasingly saturated with “cheap talk,” driven by an information economy where misinformation is easy to produce, making trust scarce. To address this issue, this study applies the Handicap Principle in Indonesia’s digital context through a new concept: Perceived Epistemic Risk (PER). It argues that influencers who willingly face legal risks—such as under the Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP)—and social backlash send a “costly signal” of honesty that is difficult to fake. Using data from 300 followers of high-risk educational influencers and analyzed with PLS-SEM, the study finds a strong positive relationship between PER and Source Credibility. This relationship is fully mediated by Perceived Authenticity (PASMI). The findings challenge traditional credibility models, showing that in a high-risk digital environment, audiences interpret “danger” as a sign of expertise rather than a deterrent. Ultimately, legal vulnerability becomes a key marker distinguishing genuinely credible influencers from opportunistic content creators.

Abstract

Air transportation in Indonesia has experienced significant growth in passenger traffic over the past few years, driven by factors such as travel distance, time efficiency, safety, and service quality. From a safety perspective, one critical aspect that must not be overlooked is the availability of spare parts during Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) activities, as it directly affects aircraft airworthiness and flight safety. Demand for spare parts in the MRO industry is influenced by maintenance schedules and aircraft utilization, resulting in varying demand patterns characterized by different levels of demand variability and demand frequency. This study focuses on inventory planning in an Indonesian aircraft MRO company using the Revised Power Approximation (RPA) (s,S) policy. The proposed inventory policy is evaluated by comparing its performance with the company's existing inventory management approach in terms of total inventory cost and customer service level. The results demonstrate that the RPA (s,S) policy can effectively reduce inventory-related costs and improve service performance, thereby enhancing spare parts availability to support maintenance operations and flight safety.

Abstract

Batulicin Fishing Port is a center of capture fisheries activities supported by the presence of block ice factories as an essential component of the cold chain system. This study aimed to analyze the characteristics of block ice factories in the Batulicin Fishing Port area and to assess the market opportunities for block ice at the port. The analytical method used was descriptive analysis. The results show that the block ice factories at Batulicin Fishing Port share similar characteristics in terms of machine-based production processes, dependence on water and electricity supplies, and direct marketing systems without intermediaries and with limited market coverage. The analysis of block ice demand indicates that total demand reached 476,325 kg/month, while total supply amounted to 472,300 kg/month. This gap indicates a positive market opportunity of 4,025 kg/month, suggesting that the availability of block ice at Batulicin Fishing Port is still insufficient to meet the needs of port service users.

Abstract

This study examines the symbolism of faction symbols in the movie Divergent through the semiotic perspective of Charles Sanders Peirce. The research focuses on how the symbols representing the five factionsAbnegation, Dauntless, Erudite, Amity, and Candorserve as visual signs that convey social identity and ideological values within the dystopian society portrayed in the film. This study applies a qualitative descriptive method using Peirces semiotic framework, which explores the relationship between representamen, object, and interpretant, as well as the classification of signs into icons, indexes, and symbols. The findings indicate that each faction symbol reflects distinct moral values: Abnegation symbolizes humility and self-sacrifice, Dauntless represents bravery and resilience, Erudite signifies intelligence and rational thinking, Amity embodies peace and harmony, and Candor reflects honesty and justice. The analysis further demonstrates that these symbols mainly function as symbolic signs, although some also contain iconic and indexical characteristics. In addition to serving as visual identifiers, the faction symbols operate as ideological instruments that strengthen social divisions, shape collective identity, and support mechanisms of social control within the dystopian social system. Overall, this study highlights that symbolism in Divergent plays a significant role in constructing meaning, identity, and ideology, while illustrating how visual symbols in film function as a medium for communicating social and ideological messages to audiences.
