Abstract

Stress in the elderly is a health problem that can affect their quality of life and physical and mental health. This study aims to determine the effect of breathing exercise on reducing stress levels in the elderly. The research design used was quasi-experimental with pre-test and post-test in the experimental group. A total of 32 elderly people were given regular breathing exercises for 4 weeks. Measuring tools used to assess PSS stress levels. The results of the analysis showed a significant decrease in stress levels, namely from 21.90 to 20.190 (p<0.001). Thus, breathing exercises have proven to be effective in reducing stress levels in the elderly. This research suggests applying breathing exercises as a non-pharmacological approach to managing stress in the elderly.

Abstract

Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) reflects a country's health status, making maternal health a priority in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS) reported an increase in MMR from 228 per 100,000 live births in 2007 to 359 per 100,000 in 2012 (Ministry of Health, 2014). A preliminary study in January 2023 identified frequent errors and data loss in the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) cohort register at a community health center (Puskesmas). This study aims to analyze the development of recording and reporting instruments for the MCH cohort register using a descriptive qualitative method. The cohort book serves as a key tool for tracking MCH target achievements, with midwives responsible for recording and reporting PWS KIA data. Their commitment ensures accurate documentation of patient names, parents' names, addresses, and birth details. The assessment of cohort book reporting includes data on pregnant women, childbirth cases, postpartum mothers, high-risk pregnancies, K1, K4, deliveries assisted by healthcare workers, postpartum care visits, and obstetric complications. Additionally, it tracks pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding mothers with risk factors detected in the community. Data sources include population projections, maternal cohort registers, and maternal health cards, with primary data gathered from interviews and observations at Singosari and Ardimulyo Community Health Centers. Enhancing recording and reporting mechanisms can improve maternal health monitoring and contribute to reducing MMR.

Abstract

Leg cramp pain, namely stiffness of the calf and leg muscles, occurs in the second and third trimesters. The impact of leg cramps is that the legs get tired quickly and tingling if left untreated, the veins can burst and cause blood clots. The solution to overcome the discomfort of leg cramps is by doing pregnancy exercises. Pregnancy exercise Muscle relaxation exercises for the health and fitness of pregnant women. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of pregnancy exercise on leg cramp pain in pregnant women. This type of quantitative research uses a pre-experimental design using a one group pretest – posttest design approach. The total sample was 30 people according to the inclusion criteria, namely primigravida and multigravida pregnant women aged more than 13 weeks to 35 weeks, pregnant women who experienced leg cramps, pregnant women who were willing to be respondents. The research technique uses total sampling. The instrument used in the research was the Hayward pain scale. Pregnancy exercise is carried out 12 meetings per month (1 week 3 times) using the Pregnancy Exercise SOP to relieve leg cramp pain. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon test because the data was not normally distributed. The results of the study showed that all respondents before being given pregnancy exercises experienced moderate pain (scale 4 - 6) and after doing pregnancy exercises it decreased to mild pain (scale 1 - 3). The results of the statistical output test of nonparametric statistical tests using the Wilcoxon test with SPSS for pain before and after the intervention obtained a p value <0.001, meaning that there is effectiveness of pregnancy exercise on leg cramp pain in pregnant women. Every pregnant woman who regularly does pregnancy exercises can reduce the pain of leg cramps and it is hoped that midwives can work together to increase education regarding leg cramp pain and the benefits of pregnancy exercises, so that pregnant women have the awareness to do pregnancy exercises.

Abstract

Tuberculosis infection is one of the most common and dangerous human infections. Tuberculosis infection is a health problem in which one-third of the world's population is infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The diagnosis of TB is still limited to the results of clinical examination, laboratory examination of BTA sputum and conventional thoracic X-rays. Meanwhile, CT scanning has not yet become a standard modality, due to its high cost and unavailability in many primary health care centres. However, CT scans are considered to have advantages in diagnosing minimal lesions, differentiating active and inactive conditions, assessing endobronchial expansion, and better diagnosing pulmonary TB with negative acid-resistant bacteria (BTA) sputum examination results. The method used was a literature review with a Narrative Review design to identify and summarise previously published articles on the relationship between clinical characteristics of pulmonary TB patients and CT scan radiological images. From the 4 articles summarised, it was found that the large number of variations that are not typical of thoracic CT scans of pulmonary TB patients make the diagnosis of pulmonary TB more complicated. It takes precision and good cooperation between radiologists and clinicians to jointly make a correct diagnosis of pulmonary TB.

Abstract

Hospitals play a strategic role in improving public health through high-quality healthcare services. To achieve this goal, hospitals must develop strategic policies covering various aspects, such as services, infrastructure, and human resource management. The effective implementation of strategic policies requires thorough planning, resource optimization, and adaptation to scientific and technological advancements. This study aims to examine the integration of strategic policies in the development of Faisal Islamic Hospital Makassar, using a qualitative approach with a case study method. The findings indicate that the hospital implements long-term strategic planning oriented toward community needs, enhances the competence of medical personnel, and develops infrastructure and technology to improve service efficiency. Additionally, funding strategies involving collaboration with various stakeholders and compliance with national health regulations are crucial factors in hospital management. However, in practice, the hospital faces several challenges, including budget constraints, a shortage of specialist medical personnel, and regulatory changes requiring quick adaptation. To address these challenges, Faisal Islamic Hospital Makassar adopts policy-strengthening strategies, such as enhancing cooperation with the government and private sector, optimizing digital technology, and formulating flexible internal policies that remain aligned with national regulations.

Abstract

Low back pain (LBP) is a common health issue with a high prevalence in the population, including in rural areas. This study aims to explore the relationship between lower limb muscle flexibility, measured using the Sit and Reach Test (SART), and the level of disability due to LBP, assessed through the Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Questionnaire (OLBPDQ), among 92 respondents in Adikarso Village, Kebumen. Pearson correlation analysis revealed a significant negative relationship between limited muscle flexibility and the level of disability due to LBP (p = 0.04). Respondents with low flexibility (<8 cm) tended to experience LBP with severe disability (41%-60%), while better flexibility (9-16 cm) was associated with moderate to minimal disability. These findings underscore the importance of muscle flexibility in the prevention and management of LBP and support a multidisciplinary approach that includes improving flexibility, physical activity, and lifestyle modifications to reduce the burden of LBP and enhance quality of life.

Abstract

Cancer is characterized by uncontrolled cell proliferation. The upregulation and activation of the Cyclin-Dependent Protein Kinase 6 (CDK6) signaling pathway can induce unregulated breast cancer cell proliferation. Therefore, CDK6 inhibition continues to be developed as a potential target for drug design and development to treat breast cancer. This study aims to predict the biofunction of anthocyanin compounds from purple corn extract as inhibitors of Cyclin-Dependent Protein Kinase 6 (CDK6) using an in silico approach. The research methods included data mining, ligand and receptor preparation, molecular docking, docking visualization, and data analysis. Our results indicate that six compounds from purple corn extract (cyanidin, cyanidin 3-glucoside, pelargonidin-3-glucoside, pelargonidin, peonidin, and peonidin-3-glucoside) can bind to CDK6 at the C-terminal and N-terminal domains. The binding pattern suggests that cyanidin, cyanidin 3-glucoside, pelargonidin-3-glucoside, pelargonidin, peonidin, and peonidin-3-glucoside interact with CDK6 residues in the same manner as Palbociclib (control). This finding indicates that compounds from purple corn have the potential to act as competitive CDK6 inhibitors. Peonidin-3-glucoside exhibited the lowest binding energy of -282.5 kcal/mol, approaching that of Palbociclib (-329.4 kcal/mol).
