Abstract

Response time in the Emergency Room (IGD) is an important indicator in determining the quality of health services, especially in situations that require fast and appropriate treatment. This study aims to describe the response time of patients in the emergency room at RSIA Bunda Denpasar. This research uses a descriptive design with an observational approach. The population in this study were all patients who came to the emergency room at RSIA Bunda Denpasar during the research period, with the sample taken being total sampling. Data was collected through direct observation of the response time from patient admission to first treatment by medical personnel. Research Results: The total number of patients served in the ER that month was 184 people, with the following triage distribution: triage 1 (0 patients), triage 2 (108 patients or 58.7%), triage 3 (73 patients or 39.7%), and triage 4 (3 patients or 1.6%). In terms of gender, there were more female patients (105 people) than male patients (79 people). Most of the patients were over 18 years old (117 people or 63.6%). Response time data shows that 100% of patients receive service within ≤ 5 minutes. The conclusion of this study shows that the Emergency Room at RSIA Bunda Denpasar has an optimal response time where all patients are served within ≤ 5 minutes. This reflects the readiness of medical personnel and good emergency room facilities to treat patients quickly and efficiently.

Abstract

The smooth production of breast milk is a major factor in the success of exclusive breastfeeding. According to an Indonesian survey, 38% of moms quit nursing because their breast milk production was insufficient. The fifth to sixth costae bones are massaged along the vertebrae of the spine during an oxytocin massage. The purpose of oxytocin massage is to keep the mother comfortable, promote the release of the hormone oxytocin, and sustain the production of breast milk. This research objective was to determine the effect of oxytocin massage on breast milk production in postpartum mothers at the Jadimulyo Village Health Post. The research type is quantitative with a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design. The population of this study were postpartum mothers at the Jadimulyo Village Health Post whose breast milk production was low in August. The sample consisted of 20 people with details of 10 people in the experimental group and 10 people in the control group. The sampling technique was consecutive sampling. This study was conducted at the Jadimulyo Village Health Post of Sekampung Sub-District East Lampung. The experimental group was given oxytocin massage for five days in the morning and evening. Abstract

The transmission of Covid-19 transmission is very fast and causes many medical personnel to die including dentists so that many dentists refuse to take action on patients who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19 and close their independent practice places so that this actually puts dentists in a position as bearers of various obligations by a series of sanctions if dentists do not carry out health services properly and are only concerned with themselves. The purpose of this study is to explain the regulations governing legal protection for independent practice dentists who refuse action on patients who are not vaccinated against Covid-19, explain the efforts of professional organizations and the Cirebon Regency government in preparing regulations to protect independent practice dentists who refuse action on patients who are not vaccinated against Covid-19 and formulate the concept of an ideal regulatory arrangement in protecting independent practice dentists who refuse to take action on patients who are not vaccinated against Covid-19. The research method used is an empirical juridical approach with secondary and primary data collection. The results of further research were analyzed qualitatively. The results of the study show that in fact dentists who refuse to provide treatment to patients who are not vaccinated against Covid-19 are a right that must be fulfilled by statutory regulations. No efforts have been made by Professional Organizations and Regional Governments in preparing regulations to protect independent practicing dentists who refuse to take action on patients who are not vaccinated against Covid-19, and the principle is only to comply with existing regulations from the Central Government. The ideal regulatory concept is behavior that starts with the community itself, because law is a social engineering formed by the community itself. Thus, the whole society and also the state can be subject to the same legal system, namely the balance between positive law and also the concept of living law.

Abstract

Cysteamine, an aminothiol compound naturally produced in human cells, is emerging as an effective depigmenting agent to treat hyperpigmentation conditions such as melasma and lentigo. Although hydroquinone has become the gold standard in the treatment of melasma, its long-term use can cause serious side effects. Cysteamine offers a safer and effective alternative with mechanisms of action that include inhibition of the tyrosinase enzyme, increased glutathione levels, and keratolytic effects. Various studies have shown that cysteamine 5% cream is not only better tolerated compared to Kligman's Formula, but also shows equivalent or better ability in reducing Modified Melasma Area and Severity Index (mMASI) scores. In addition, cysteamine was also effective in treating lentigo, with significant results in the reduction of hyperpigmentation. Although there are tolerance-related challenges, especially the unpleasant odor, the potential efficacy and good safety profile make cysteamine a promising option in the treatment of hyperpigmentation. Further research is needed to optimize formulations and explore combination therapies for better results.

Abstract

Pregnancy is a critical period for determining future human resource quality as fetal development starts in the womb Pregnant women are vulnerable to nutritional issues such as anemia, which occurs when hemoglobin levels decrease and fail to meet the body’s oxygen needs, as well as Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED), which can worsen this condition. CED in pregnant women increases the risk of anemia and negatively impacts the health of the mother and fetal growth. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between chronic energy deficiency and the incidence of anemia in pregnant women in the working area of Kampung Kawat Health Center in 2024. This quantitative study utilizes a cross-sectional approach. Purposive sampling is used as the sampling technique, with a total of 67 pregnant women as respondents. Data were collected directly through medical records, anthropometric measurements, and hemoglobin level analysis to identify CED and anemia. Chi-square tests were applied to test the hypothesis. The analysis revealed that 20 respondents (29.8%) experienced both anemia and CED, while 31 respondents (46.3%) did not experience either condition. The Chi-square test produced a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) and an Odds Ratio (OR) of 0.000 (<0.05), proving a significant relationship between CED and anemia. The Confidence Interval (CI) of 9.841 (3.159–30.663) further supports the significant relationship between CED and anemia in pregnant women. Chronic Energy Deficiency is significantly associated with an increased risk of anemia in pregnant women in the working area of Kampung Kawat Health Center in 2024.

Abstract

The quality of nursing care is a care provided that meets the needs of patients, provides comfort, maintains mental, provides satisfaction, provides sincere satisfaction in a professional manner (Daniel, 2021). There are several instruments developed to assess the quality of nursing care, namely the patient's assement of quality scale-acute care version (PAQS-ACV) instrument that there are five domains used to assess the quality of care, namely 1) caring attention and concern for patients, 2) individualization prioritizes patients and supports patients with problems faced and treats patients like humans, 3) responsiveness where a nurse must be responsive to patients and must be ready to meet patient needs, 4) nurse characteristics nurses must have good character towards patients, 5) enviroment where a sense of comfort in a calm environment for patients (Mendrofa, 2021). This type of research is quantitative with a simple descriptive design using non-probality sampling technique with the Kolmogrov-Smirnov method using the Slovin formula and the number of 86 respondents. The results showed that the quality of nursing care based on the patient's perspective at the Adventist Hospital in Medan in 2021 has a good value according to the questionnaire.

Abstract

Excessive doses of paracetamol can cause nephrotoxicity due to accumulation of NAPQI and oxidative stress, which damages the proximal tubules of the kidney. Tomato (Solanum tomato L.) which is rich in lycopene has the potential to prevent this damage through its antioxidant activity. This experimental study used a posttest-only control group design with 25 white rats (Rattus norvegicus) divided into 5 groups: positive control, negative control, and three treatment groups. The mice were induced with toxic doses of paracetamol, while the treatment group was given tomato juice. Evaluation is carried out through measurement of plasma creatinine and renal histopathological analysis. The results showed that toxic doses of paracetamol (250 mg/kgBW) increased creatinine levels and relative kidney weight, which indicated acute kidney damage. Giving high doses of tomato juice (800 mg/kgBW) was most effective in reducing creatinine levels and protecting kidney tissue compared to lower doses. Administration of paracetamol 250 mg/kgBW caused kidney damage which was characterized by an increase in creatinine and relative kidney weight. Tomato juice at a dose of 800 mg/kgBW provided the best protective effect by reducing creatinine levels close to the positive control. These results demonstrate the potential of tomato juice as a protective agent against paracetamol-induced kidney damage.

Abstract

Hyperuricemia is a degenerative condition due to increased blood uric acid levels from purine metabolism, often occurring in the elderly. Avocado seeds (Persea americana Mill.) contain flavonoids with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can inhibit xanthine oxidation. This study evaluated the effectiveness of its extract in reducing uric acid levels in potassium bromate-induced male mice. Mice were divided into six groups: negative control (Na CMC 0.5%), positive control (allopurinol 10 mg/kg BW), three treatment groups (avocado seed extract 120, 150, and 180 mg/kg BW), and normal group. Uric acid levels were measured for seven days using one-way ANOVA test and BNT test LSD method. The results showed that doses of 120-180 mg/kg BW effectively reduced uric acid levels, with the optimal dose of 150 mg/kg BW reducing hyperuricemia by 37.3% (p = 0.118).

Abstract

Diabetic ulcers, a chronic complication of diabetes mellitus, result from long-term uncontrolled blood sugar levels and are characterised by infection-prone foot wounds. Staphylococcus aureus is often found as the bacteria that cause infection in these wounds. Antibiotic resistance has become a serious challenge in medicine, so alternatives such as orange peel (Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck) were investigated for their metabolite content with antibacterial potential. This study was designed experimentally with a Posttest Only Control Group Design approach. Orange peels were processed through sorting, drying, extraction using 96% ethanol, and fractionation with ethyl acetate. Antibacterial activity test was conducted by disc method against Staphylococcus aureus, using ethanol extract and ethyl acetate fraction. DMSO and mupirocin were used as negative and positive controls, with concentrations of 25%, 50%, and 75%. The results showed that the ethanol extract had antibacterial activity, with a concentration of 75% producing the largest inhibition zone (13.56 mm), including the medium category. However, the ethyl acetate fraction did not show antibacterial activity at all concentrations, presumably due to the low levels of extractable semipolar metabolites. Environmental factors such as UV light, humidity, and high temperature during drying are also thought to affect metabolite levels. It was concluded that ethanol extract of orange peel was more effective than ethyl acetate fraction in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus.
