Abstract

The low level of Pap smear screening is influenced by low knowledge. The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation between the level of knowledge and the mother's motivation to perform a pap smear examination. This research used the Correlational Analytical method with the Cross-Sectional approach. The study population was all women of childbearing age living in Kricak village, RW 06, Kricak, Tegalrejo, Yogyakarta, totaling 49 women. Samples were taken based on the total sampling technique. Data analysis was performed with Kendall's Tau. The results revealed that as many as 12.2% of women of childbearing age (WUS) had good knowledge, 26.5% had sufficient knowledge and 61.2% had poor knowledge. In terms of motivation, as many as 28 respondents (57.1%) or most of the sample, have motivation in the category of poor with poor knowledge. The significance value obtained was 0.001 with a correlation value of 0.591. This finding suggests that there is a correlation between knowledge and a mother's motivation to perform a Pap smear screening where the correlation is in the medium range of closeness. The Tegalrejo Yogyakarta Health Center is expected to educate people about the dangers of cervical cancer and the importance of getting a pap smear exam.

Abstract

Information about pregnancy is widely accessed by pregnant women, ranging from electronic media, print media, and even social media. One of them is the guide to the prevention of common physiological symptoms in pregnancy (PGCPSP). This guide quantitatively has a very positive impact on the success of preventing pregnancy complaints. However, independent attitudes related to the experience of using this guide have not been measured. The satisfaction and success of pregnant women in using this media is a benchmark for researchers to develop this educational media. This study aims to explore in depth the experiences of pregnant women in preventing and managing pregnancy complaints using the PGCPSP. This research is a qualitative study with a phenomenological approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with six pregnant women and four midwives. Participants were selected by purposive sampling. Interviews were recorded, transcribed, translated, and thematically analyzed using NVivo 12 trial version software. We identified three themes and eight sub-themes related to the experience of using PGCPSP: personal condition before using PGCPSP, experience of using PGCPSP, and recommendations for PGCPSP development. Literacy media such as PGCPSP positively impact pregnant women's experiences in overcoming various complaints. Health service providers must develop strategies using educational media. so that pregnant women have the knowledge and foster self-confidence for a satisfying pregnancy experience. In addition, efforts to develop forms of educational media through digital platforms are needed for the development of digital literacy for pregnant women in the future.

Abstract

Back pain is one of the problems that pregnant women often experience during the third trimester. If the pain is not treated immediately, it will have serious consequences for the mother. One effort is simple physical therapy using a ball, which is useful for strengthening the abdominal and lower back muscles. It is usually called gymball training. This study aimed to determine how effectively a gym ball reduces back pain felt by pregnant women in the third trimester. This research used a pre-experiment with one pretest-posttest group and a sample of 30 pregnant women in the Singojuruh Public Health Center area. It was conducted from September to October 2023. This study applied simple random sampling techniques to determine the sample and analyse data using the Wilcoxon test. This study revealed that the prevalence of back pain in pregnant women was reduced from 43.3% to 6.7% for pain in the moderate category. Furthermore, 10% of respondents no longer felt back pain after using the gymball. Based on the Wilcoxon signed ranks test results on data before and after testing, a p-value of 0.000 was obtained, which shows that using a gym ball effectively treats back pain in pregnant women in the third trimester. The use of a gym ball can be used as a complementary care alternative to relieve pregnant women's back pain during pregnancy, especially in the third trimester. It is hoped that this gymball can be implemented in health facilities in classes for pregnant women.

Abstract

Physiological and psychological changes during pregnancy can cause various complaints, such as nausea, back pain, and sleep disturbances, as well as increase the risk of mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression. However, current antenatal services still focus more on physical aspects compared to preventing pregnancy complaints and promoting mental health. This study aims to explore the integration of education on preventing common pregnancy complaints and promoting mental health in first contact antenatal care based on the perspective of midwives. The research method used was qualitative with purposive sampling technique, involving 6 midwives as participants, conducted for 4 months, and analyzed using thematic analysis. The results of the study identified six main themes, including low coverage of first pregnancy contact (K1), suboptimal mental health education, and the need for service integration and the use of digital-based educational media. The conclusion of this study confirms that improving the quality of antenatal services requires revision of procedures, innovation in digital education, and stronger social support to improve the welfare of pregnant women.

Abstract

Low self-efficiency causes twice the risk of experiencing discomfort due to pregnancy complaints. Providing prenatal education reduces it, but no studies using animated videos on the CPSP prevention guidance against self-efficacy were found. This study aimed to ascertain the impact of Common Pregnancy Symptoms in Pregnancy (CPSP) prevention guidance on pregnant women's self-efficacy. The design of this research is a non-randomized controlled trial in one of the independent health centres of midwifery in Banyuwangi, Indonesia. This study was conducted from July to September 2023 on 60 pregnant women with purposive sampling, so two groups of 30 were allocated to the control and experimental groups. After the intervention, a significant difference was observed in the average self-efficacy scores between the control and experimental groups (p = 0.000). Before and after the intervention, the average self-efficacy scores in the experimental group were 22.73±4.51 and 28.58±4.26, respectively, demonstrating a statistically significant difference (p = 0.000). This study encourages health professionals, midwives, and antenatal service providers to use the prevention guidance of CPSP in the first contact of antenatal care to remain relevant and timely with pregnancy information amid the administrative bustle.
