Abstract

Tari Kabela merupakan tarian tradisional khas masyarakat Bolaang Mongondow, Sulawesi Utara, yang mengandung nilai filosofis sebagai simbol penyambutan tamu dan persatuan. Tarian ini dapat di temukan di beberapa kegiatan masyarakat yang dilakukan secara rutin seperti pada acara pernikahan, peresmian, kunjungan pemerintah, ataupun kegaiatn seni daerah seperti Kabela fest. Kegiatan-kegiatan itu dilaksanakan oleh Dinas Pariwisata, Sanggar, dan Komunitas-komunitas yang ada di daerah Bolaang Mongondow.  Hal ini dilakukan sebagai bentuk atau langkah yang dilakukan untuk menjaga kelestarian seni dan budaya daerah khususnya tari Kabela ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji eksistensi Tari Kabela dalam konteks dinamika budaya masyarakat di era modern. Metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data melalui observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian melibatkan pelaku seni, komunitas adat, dan dokumentasi sejarah. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa Tari Kabela masih dipertahankan sebagai identitas budaya lokal, meskipun menghadapi tantangan seperti minimnya minat generasi muda dan adaptasi terhadap kebutuhan komersial. Temuan utama menyebutkan bahwa revitalisasi peran dalam ritual adat (tumatandu ), integrasi dalam kurikulum seni sekolah, dan pemanfaatan teknologi digital seperti aplikasi augmented reality menjadi strategi efektif pelestarian. Simpulan penelitian menegaskan bahwa keberlanjutan Tari Kabela memerlukan kolaborasi antara pemerintah, lembaga pendidikan, dan komunitas seni untuk menjaga relevansi tarian dalam transformasi budaya kontemporer.

Abstract

Riset penciptaan karya tari berjudul Perwira Tanah Lingga bertujuan untuk menciptakan karya tari dramatik yang bersumber dari  cerita rakyat Melayu Lingga. Cerita ini merepresentasikan perjuangan rakyat Lingga melawan kekuasaan tirani dan penindasan. Proses penciptaan karya tari dilakukan dengan pendekatan eksploratif melalui tahapan observasi lapangan, wawancara, studi pustaka, serta analisis gerak dan emosi. Sebagai dasar gerak, pengkarya menggunakan motif tari tradisi Zapin Kote yang memiliki nilai estetika, etika, dan simbolik dalam masyarakat pesisir Lingga. Struktur dramatik yang digunakan adalah kerucut tunggal untuk membangun intensitas emosi secara bertahap hingga mencapai klimaks dramatik. Hasil penciptaan ini disusun ke dalam bentuk karya tari yang memiliki alur dramatik yang tersusun dengan hubungan kausalitas adegan yang kuat.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the structure of the script Heart of Almond Jelly by Wishing Chong translated by Teguh Hari Prasetyo, et al to find out the dramatic material of the script. The analysis method used to explore the script in structure and texture is the textual analysis method. Heart of Almond Jelly brings the reader or audience as if witnessing what happens in the reality of everyday life, and discusses a lot about the household problems of a married couple. The conclusion obtained from this research is that the script Heart of Almond Jelly by Wishing Chong translated by Teguh Hari Prasetyo has two characters. The main character is Sayoko and the antagonist is Tatsuro. Heart of Almond Jelly is a reinterpretation of the realism script to realize emotional values and character deepening in realizing drama and has a tragicomedy play form and realism style.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the presentation of the Kuntau Dance at a wedding in Bajo Village, Tilamuta District, Boalemo Regency. The background of the study is based on the fading tradition of the Kuntau dance which is only danced by three elderly dancers, even though this dance has a meaning of protection and sacred value in traditional processions. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study design. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with traditional leaders and Kuntau performers, and photo and video documentation. Data analysis was carried out inductively through data reduction, display, and verification to produce a comprehensive description. The main findings show that the presentation of the Kuntau dance involves two types of movement (step 1 and step 2), modern costume (batik shirt, cloth trousers, cap), natural makeup, linear floor patterns, and traditional musical accompaniment (drums and gongs). The performance begins with an opening greeting, walking to escort the groom's entourage, and ends three meters from the door of the bride's house. The conclusion of the research states that the Kuntau dance is a traditional performing art of the Bajo Tribe which has transformed from sacred martial arts into a cultural attraction at wedding processions and needs to be preserved through training the younger generation, documentation, and development of cultural tourism.

Abstract

The problem experienced in SMP Negeri X Kupang is that students have difficulty when targeting notes that have increasingly distant intervals. Thus, the researcher is motivated to conduct research on Learning Efforts to Read Numeric Notation in the Song Indonesia Subur for Class VIII Students of SMP Negeri X Kupang. The formulation of the problem in this study is How is the Learning Process of Reading Numeric Notation in the Song Indonesia Subur for Class VIII Students of SMP Negeri X Kupang? And What are the difficulties experienced by class VIII students of SMP Negeri X Kupang in reading numeral notation? The purpose of this study was to determine the learning process of Reading Numeric Notation in the song Indonesia Subur for class VIII students of SMP Negeri X Kupang and to determine the difficulties experienced by class VIII students of SMP Negeri X Kupang in reading notation. The implementation of this learning process obtained evaluation results with 20 students who were very good because the ability to read numeral notation from students increased significantly after participating in learning to read numeral notation. At the first meeting 15% of students were able to read the notation well, 25% of students read the notation with minor errors, and 60% of students were unable to read the notation while at the last meeting 75% of students were able to read the notation well, 25% of students read the notation with minor errors. So based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the ability of students in addition to musicality factors is also the motivation to learn in class, and the learning methods provided.

Abstract

Phrasing technique is a crucial aspect in vokal performance, used to divide, organize, and interpret musical phrases to enhance clarity, expression, and meaning. In singing practice, common challenges include a lack of understanding of vokal techniques, especially in breath control and phrase connection. This study aims to introduce and apply the phrasing technique systematically to improve students’ vokal abilities, particularly in a vokal quartet format which requires harmony, collaboration, and strong musical interpretation. The research problems addressed are: (1) How is the phrasing technique applied in a vokal quartet? and (2) What are its impacts on vokal-interest students in the Music Education Study Program at UNWIRA Kupang? This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with field action. Data were collected through literature review and direct observation. The application process was divided into three stages: the initial stage (recruitment of participants), the core stage (implementation of phrasing techniques), and the final stage (recording of the final performance). Students were trained in phrase division, breathing exercises, and the development of musical interpretation. The results show a significantly positive impact on the students’ singing skills, particularly in breath control and musical phrase connection. Although challenges such as reaching high notes and pitch accuracy were encountered, overall, the students were able to apply the technique well. This study contributes to the development of vokal teaching methods, especially in vokal quartet settings, and serves as a reference for improving vokal practice, teaching materials, and the musical competence of students in the Music Education Study Program at UNWIRA Kupang.

Abstract

Senandung Jolo is a traditional musical art form originating from Kumpeh Ilir District, Muaro Jambi Regency, Jambi Province. This art is commonly performed at cultural events, festivals, and several major celebrations, including the anniversary of Jambi Province. Typically, Senandung Jolo is presented through a singing technique accompanied by the striking of wooden slats placed on the performer’s knees while sitting with the legs extended forward. In addition, Senandung Jolo has been innovated into various instrumental formations, integrating both other traditional instruments and modern instruments. Its uniqueness is reflected in the linguistic aspect, particularly in the use of pantun enriched with idioms in the Muaro Jambi language. Senandung Jolo also contains distinct musical features, notably its vocal melodies that are rich in ornamental elements. This study aims to examine the creative processes of Senandung Jolo artists in crafting pantun, as well as to identify the configuration of its musical units through grouping-structure analysis based on the perspective of the Generative Theory of Tonal Music (GTTM). A qualitative approach and musical analysis were adopted as the methods to address these objectives. This research offers a structural description of the relationship between the creative process of oral language and the musical intuition of artists in Muaro Jambi. The findings concerning the correlation between pantun infused with Muaro Jambi idioms and the musical events within Senandung Jolo are expected to broaden readers’ insight into understanding a cultural product.

Abstract

The Besale ritual of the Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) community in Jambi is a traditional healing ceremony imbued with profound spiritual values, particularly the concept of Simpuh Ruh. These values are increasingly threatened by the forces of modernization; therefore, the Simpuh Ruh choreography was designed as a transformation of the ritual to serve as a strategy for cultural preservation. This article aims to explain the systematic process of designing the Simpuh Ruh choreography, from movement exploration to final composition, and to analyze how the spiritual values of the Besale ritual are embodied within its choreographic elements. The artistic creation method employed includes stages of exploration, improvisation, and formation, conducted through observation and unstructured interviews. Data analysis is based on the interpretation of cultural meaning. The work is codified as a dramatic dance type, structured using a single-cone compositional form. Non-formal ritual movements are developed into intensive movement motifs characterized by vibration, stamping, and simpuh gestures. The musical accompaniment utilizes the Besale drum with mantra-based vocalizations, while the primary property employed is the Balai Terbang. Simpuh Ruh demonstrates that spiritual values and the non-formal movements inherent in ritual practice can be methodologically transformed into a cohesive choreographic structure, contributing significantly to the preservation of ritual-based dance traditions.
