Abstract

Abstract

Background: Professional teachers are required to have good physical and mental health. The hope is that professional teachers can carry out their daily tasks without experiencing significant fatigue. To determine changes in physical activity and mental health before and during the practice of field experiences. Methods: This research uses a quantitative approach with survey methods. The population that is the subject of the study is Pre-service PPG students of Surabaya State University (Unesa) in 2023. The instruments used involved the General Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) to assess the level of physical activity and the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ) to evaluate the level of mental health of respondents. Results: The study highlights the need to balance physical and mental health among Pre-service PPG students during field experiences. Conclusions: While physical activity increased, it wasn't statistically significant. However, slight rises in psychological distress suggest potential shifts in mental well-being, urging educational institutions to address these aspects for improved teacher education quality.

Abstract

Background: In handball, an athlete's ability to be successful is influenced by their physical condition and mental skills. Therefore, it is important for coaches to have information about the physical health and mental skills of their athletes. Knowing the profile of the physical condition and mental skills of handball athletes from Bojonegoro Regency is the aim of this research. Methods: This research is included in descriptive research using a post-test only design for the physical condition profile and a survey for mental skills. The instruments used are the 30 m running test for speed, the sit and reach test for flexibility, the Illinois Agility Run Test for agility, the push up test for arm muscle strength, the Medicine Ball Test for arm muscle power, the MFT for cardiac and respiratory endurance, and Mental Skills Questionnaire for evaluating mental skills when competing. Bojonegoro Regency Handball Athletes are the population in this study with a sample of 31 athletes (19 men and 12 women). Results: The research findings show that the physical condition and mental skills of Bojonegoro Regency handball athletes are in the "Medium" category with a percentage of physical condition of 50% and mental skills of 57.14% of all components of the physical condition and mental skill aspects of Bojonegoro Regency handball athletes. From these results, it is in accordance with the opinion of experts that "Sport is 90-95% mental". Conclusions: Bojonegoro Regency handball athletes show a level that is classified as “Moderate”. This shows the potential for improvement in both the physical condition and mental skills of athletes.

Abstract

Background: This study aims to examine how children's hunger is affected by aquatic exercise. The hypothalamus and brainstem are the sites of several peripheral signals that regulate appetite and eating behavior in response to food intake. These feedback signals involve several gut hormones, such as ghrelin, peptide YY (PYY), and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). Ghrelin is released several hours after working out in the water, which increases appetite Methods: Using the total sampling approach, a pre-test and post-test design was employed for a set of 29 respondents. For eight weeks, aquatic exercise is done once a week Results: According to the study's findings, children's appetite is influenced by water-based exercise in three ways: with a significance value of 0.000 for their desire to enjoy food, a significance value of 0.046 for their reactions to it, and a significance value of 0.025 for their picky eating habits Conclusions: As a result, playing in the water might make kids more hungry and want to savor every meal. As a result, kids who exercise in the water on a daily basis run a possibility of becoming excessively fed

Abstract

Background: This study aimed to measure the effect of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) with the Tabata protocol on increasing Volume Oxygen Maximum (VO2max) in Central Java handball athletes. The main problem faced is the need for handball athletes to have optimal physical endurance and cardiovascular fitness to support performance during matches. The conclusion of this study is that the HIIT (Tabata) training method has a significant effect on increasing VO2max and can be implemented in handball athlete training programs to improve physical fitness and athlete performance on the field. Methods: The method used was an experiment with a one-group pretest-posttest design, involving 14 Central Java handball athletes selected using the Saturation Sampling technique. The data collection instrument was the Multistage Fitness Test (Beep Test), which was conducted before and after an 8-week intervention period. Data analysis was performed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the paired sample t-test hypothesis test using SPSS version 17. Results: The results showed a significant increase in VO2max in handball athletes after being given HIIT training with the Tabata protocol, with an average increase of 8.8% from pretest to posttest. Conclusions: The conclusion of this study is that the HIIT (Tabata) training method has a significant effect on increasing VO2max and can be implemented in handball athlete training programs to improve physical fitness and athlete performance on the field.

Abstract

Background: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the vertical jump movement in increasing explosive power in Kancil Mas Karawang Football School (SSB) football athletes. Methods: This research was carried out by collecting data from a number of athletes who had undergone vertical jump training regularly over a certain period. The experimental method was used in this research, where participants were divided into a control group and an experimental group. The experimental group underwent vertical jump training, while the control group did not experience additional training intervention. Explosive power measurements were carried out before and after the intervention period using standard tests whose reliability has been proven. Results: The results of data analysis showed a significant increase in explosive power in the experimental group compared to the control group. The implications of these findings for athletic training, especially in the context of explosive power development in soccer, are discussed in this study. Conclusions: . In conclusion, vertical jump training can be an effective method in increasing the explosive power of soccer athletes at SSB level, with the potential to improve athlete performance on the field.
