Abstract

Background: Para-sport, as a branch of sports for individuals with disabilities, has grown significantly as a platform for social inclusion and athletic achievement. However, sports activities inherently carry injury risks, which are amplified in para-sport due to physical limitations and adaptive equipment use. Methods: This study systematically reviewed injury patterns across various para-sport disciplines in multi-event competitions. Using the PRISMA framework, we analyzed 13 studies published in the last decade. Results: Results indicate that contact sports such as wheelchair basketball and rugby reported the highest injury prevalence, primarily acute injuries like shoulder dislocations and contusions. Non-contact sports such as para-swimming and para-throwing showed chronic injuries like tendinopathies due to repetitive movements. Key risk factors included biomechanical imbalances, intense training, and the use of adaptive devices. Conclusions The findings highlight the need for tailored injury prevention strategies, including biomechanical evaluation, rehabilitation programs, and ergonomic sports equipment design, to ensure athlete safety and enhance performance sustainability in para-sports.

Abstract

Background: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of various dribbling exercises in improving the dribbling ability of basketball players. Methods: This study used a one group pretest-post-test design. The population in this study were athletes registered at the Mustangs Academy basketball club Palembang City, totalling 30 male athletes aged 12-17 years. The test instrument used is a sports skills test in the form of a basketball dribble skill test, using the zig-zag dribble test adopted from the Johnson Basketball Test with a validity value of 0.79 and a reliability value of 0.80. The analysis was conducted using a paired sample t-test statistical test which was preceded by a normality and homogeneity test. Results: The results of this study indicate that variations in dribbling training have a significant effect on improving the dribbling ability of basketball players. Based on data analysis using the paired sample t-test at a significance level of 5% (α = 0.05), the p value is 0.023 (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Variations in dribbling exercises play a crucial role in enhancing basketball players' dribbling abilities. Implementing a mix of foundational drills, game-based scenarios, and specialized exercises like two-ball dribbling or blindfolded practices can lead to significant improvements in control, agility, and overall performance on the court. Regular practice combined with structured training programs is essential for developing effective dribbling skills that translate into better gameplay outcomes.

Abstract

Background: Evidence shows that the level of physical activity of adolescents in the world is still very lacking, while physical activity itself has a holistic effect, both physically and mentally, including on one's life satisfaction. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between physical activity and student life satisfaction. Methods: Correlational research was used in this study. A total of 58 students of Jogoroto 1 Junior High School (JHS) consisting of 29 boys and 29 girls. SLSS and IPAQ-SF instruments were used in this study and data analysis techniques used descriptive statistics and Spearman's rho rank correlation test. Results: he correlation test results showed a positive correlation coefficient and significance less than 0.05 between physical activity and student's life satisfaction, both in terms of METs value (r=0.875, p=0.000<0.05) and physical activity category (r=0.929, p=0.000<0.05). Conclusions: There is a significant correlation between physical activity and student's life satisfaction. The higher the level of physical activity, the higher the level of student's life satisfaction.
