Abstract

The objective of the paper is to find out the strategy of Isalamic education teachers in embedding multicultural values at a senior high school in Palu. The study used a qualitative case study method. Data were gathered through direct observation, un-depth interviews with the school’s teachers, and written material analyses. This study found that the teachers of the school embedded multicultural values through humanistic approach in taching and daily school’s interaction. Students were given tolerance understanding to respect religion and ethnicity differences. The curriculum of the school was also redusugned by integrating multicultural values. Intolerance attitudes were strongy prohibited and stric rules to respect each other were imposed. Islamic education teachers were imposed to teached moderate Islamic teachings which respect multicultural values. Radical Islamic views were prohibited to teach in the school. Muslim and non-Muslim students were treated equally regarding their views and beliefs.

Abstract

This study examined the role of Islamic education in building students’ character within Indonesia public schools. In conducting the study, we used a qualitative case study method. The case of this study was a state senior high school in Palu city. Data were gathered through direct field observation, in-depth interviews which involve teachers and students. We also analyzed written material, such as the school curriculum, to understand how the character building strategies were integrated in the curriculum. Iur study found that teachers implement character building strategies through several stages, namely the stages of planning, the stages of learning implementation, and the stages of evaluating Islamic religious education learning. The characters values were embedded in the learning of Islamic religious education. This included the integration of character values in the school curriculum and they were taught in every day classroom leanings and in extracurricular activities.

Abstract

This study examined the implementation of Islamic education in building preprimary disabled students characters. The main focus of this study was teachers strategies in building characters for mentally retarded children in the subject of Islamic religious education and character. In conducting the study, we used a qualitative case study method. The case of this study was a state disabled in Palu city. Data were gathered through direct field observation, in-depth interviews which involve teachers and the school principla. We also analyzed written material, such as the school teaching activities, to understand how the character building strategies were integrated in the disabled school curriculum. Our study found that the teacher's strategies in building character of mentally retarded children in the subject of Islamic Religious Education were through habituation and modeling techniques. The teachers of Islamic religious education applied learning habits that contain good values ​​and attitudes. This included familiarizing with habits to maintaining cleanliness, Quran recitation, practicing prayers, and getting used to giving donation.

Abstract

This study discusses teachers strategy of Islamic Education in overcoming students difficulties of reading Al-Qur'an a State Junior High School. The problems that will be addressed included what strategies were used by the teachers in overcoming students difficulties in reading Al-Qur'an and who the strategies were implemented to solve the problems. In conducting the study, we used a qualitative case study method. The case of this study was a state junior high school in West Sulawesi province. Data were gathered through direct field observation, in-depth interviews which involve teachers and the school principle. We also analyzed written material, such as the school teaching activities, to understand how the teachres solve students difficulties in reading al-Quran. Our study found that the strategies to overcome students difficulties in reading al-Quran included the determination of the qualification of learners. Hold a special coaching for students who experience difficulties in reading Quran. Then the teachers made cooperation with fellow teachers and learners. Finally, the teachers familiarized the students to read Al-Qur'an.

Abstract

This study discusses teachers strategy of Islamic Education Implementing Multiculturalism Based Education. In conducting the study, we used a qualitative case study method. The case of this study was a stateb senior high school in Palu city. Data were gathered through direct field observation, in-depth interviews which involve teachers and the school principle. We also analyzed written material, such as the school teaching activities, to understand how the teacher strategies in implementing multicultural based education as the senior high school. Our study found that the teachers at the government senior high school made learning planning that emphasizes the integration of multicultural values, fairness, responsibility, religion, awareness of rights and obligations, equality, tolerance, respect for diversity, honesty, discipline contained in the learning program plan and in the syllabus. Then the implementation of multicultural education learning is carried out through a sociological approach that contains multicultural values.

Abstract

This study discusses teachers strategy to improve students mental sorituality after natural disasters at a junir high school in Palu city. This study was conducted to help students to recover their mental spirituality after experienced traumatic natural disasters. In conducting the study, we used a qualitative case study method. The case of this study was a stateb junior high school in Palu city. Data were gathered through direct field observation, in-depth interviews which involve teachers and the school principle. We also analyzed written material, such as the school teaching activities, to understand how the teachers at the school helped students to recover their mental spirituality during post disasters period. Our study found that teachers has been able to carry out mental and spiritual recovery of the students after the natural disaster in Palu. The students who were initially lazy to participate in religious activities became diligent. Then the students who initially rarely prayed became diligent to pray. The teachers awaken students' awareness of the importance of maintaining spirituality after experiencing a disaster through various religious activities in the school environment
