Abstract

The Qur'an Education Park (TPA) plays an important role in improving children's education in the surrounding environment by providing facilities for learning to read and write the Quran, reading short prayers, and other positive activities. However, the criteria for scholarship recipients at TPA Anak Sholeh are still unclear, even though the provision of this scholarship aims to motivate students to be more active in learning and excelling. This study aims to determine more specific criteria for scholarship recipients, such as attendance, achievements, home conditions, and parents' income. Another objective is to validate and improve the accuracy of the K-Means Clustering model used in grouping the data of prospective scholarship recipients into three categories: accepted, considered, and rejected. The research method used is the K-Means Clustering algorithm. Algorithm performance evaluation is carried out through metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, f-measure, and cross-validation. Testing was carried out on TPA student data as many as 80 student data. The results of the grouping using 3 clusters were obtained as many as 46 students received C1 scores, C2 scores were rejected by 12 students and C3 scores were considered for 22 students. The determination of the centroid distance has an effect on the value of the cluster results when conducting the scholarship attribute collateralization.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the influence of acceptance of LGBT people in Thailand on the development of LGBT social movements in Indonesia, as well as identify the challenges faced by LGBT people in Indonesia. Using the New Social Movement and Network Social Movement approaches, this research explores the role of social networks and the cultural, religious, and traditional factors that influence public acceptance of LGBT people in both countries. A qualitative method with a descriptive approach was used to analyze secondary data obtained from various sources, including official documents, books, scientific journals, and previous research reports. The results show that LGBT acceptance in Thailand, influenced by cultural values and Buddhism, has created a more inclusive environment for LGBT people. More inclusive policies, such as anti-discrimination laws, as well as positive representations of LGBT people in the media and popular culture in Thailand, triggered the emergence of social movements supporting LGBT rights in Southeast Asia, including in Indonesia. However, in Indonesia, LGBT social movements face greater challenges due to the strong cultural and religious traditions of conservative Islam. As a result, it has been difficult for LGBT social movements to gain widespread acceptance, and discrimination and stigma against LGBT people remain strong. Nonetheless, the positive influence of Thailand helps motivate LGBT activists in Indonesia to continue fighting for their rights through advocacy, campaigns and public education.

Abstract

This research explores the application of frugal living lifestyle among Pertamina University overseas students, focusing on the implications for identity and intercultural communication. The background of this research is the high cost of living in DKI Jakarta, which poses a challenge for overseas students. Frugal living emerged as a solution to overcome this financial challenge, emphasizing smart and disciplined financial management. This research aims to understand how students internalize and communicate frugal living values in their daily lives. This research uses a qualitative approach with an interpretive paradigm. Participants were selected through purposive sampling technique, with the inclusion criteria of overseas students who live a frugal lifestyle.  Primary data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations, while secondary data were obtained from supporting documents and literature. Data analysis was conducted by interpreting the results of interviews and observations to understand the application of frugal living and its implications for identity and intercultural communication patterns. The validity of the research was maintained by selecting the right participants and reaching the information saturation point. The results show that frugal living is not just a financial management strategy, but also reflects the values of simplicity, sustainability, and responsibility. The frugal identity that is formed affects the way students interact with the surrounding environment, strengthens their sense of independence and responsibility, and is recognized as a wise individual in managing finances. The implications of this research can support further understanding of the frugal living lifestyle among overseas students, with a focus on identity formation and intercultural communication.

Abstract

Introduction: Anaphylactic reaction is a severe, potentially life-threatening systemic hypersensitivity reaction caused by a specific allergen. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical profile of anaphylactic patients hospitalized in Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah Hospital, Denpasar. Method: This was a cross-sectional descriptive study of anaphylactic patients hospitalized in our center from January 2018 to December 2023. Patients diagnosed with anaphylactic reactions were included in this study. All the data (demographic, clinical manifestations, potential trigger) were attained from medical records for descriptive analysis. Result: 292 patients were enrolled in this study; half were women (54,4%), and the median age was 38,50 years (interquartile range 24). The most common potential triggers were drugs (57%), followed by food (18,5%), blood products (14,1), insect bites, and other triggers (4,8%). Almost all patients experience skin and mucosal manifestations (99%). Anaphylactic shock occurs in only 22% of patients. Discussion: Previous studies have found similar results to our findings, and anaphylactic reaction caused by drugs was associated with a more severe reaction. The effect of estrogen hormones on more severe reactions has been reported in female mice, but human research is still limited. Conclusion: Further studies are needed to investigate the correlation between demographic characteristics or specific clinical manifestations with a severe reaction.

Abstract

The spread of the Coronavirus Disease represents the most significant global health threat in recent decades. Blood type is among the risk factors associated with COVID-19, with certain blood types linked to increased severity and higher mortality rates. This research aims to assess the relationship between ABO blood type and outcomes in severe and critical COVID-19 patients in the ICU at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang. The study is an observational analytical research utilizing a cross-sectional approach. Data were gathered from the medical records of COVID-19 patients from January to September through a total sampling method, resulting in 124 individuals meeting the inclusion criteria. The data were analyzed utilizing the Chi-Square test. The discoveries uncovered that male patients (54%) dwarfed female patients (46%). The larger part of patients were within the age range of 56-65 for years (33.9%). Patients with blood sort O were more predominant among those with extreme COVID-19 (31.3%) and basic COVID-19 (38.0%). The foremost common result was passing, happening in 56.0% of serious cases and 53.7% of basic cases. There was no factually noteworthy relationship between ABO blood sort and results in serious and basic COVID-19 patients, with a p-value of 0.778 (>0.05). The study concludes that there's no measurably critical affiliation between ABO blood sort and outcomes in extreme and basic COVID-19 patients within the ICU at Dr. M. Djamil Padang hospital.

Abstract

Childbirth is the process of expelling the fetus to the placenta, the process of giving birth is identical to pain, while to reduce this pain, non-pharmacological methods are carried out, one of which is the Birth Ball method. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using birth ball as a non-pharmacological complementary therapy in reducing labor pain in the first stage. The method used was a narrative literature review by searching for relevant articles on Google Scholar using keywords such as “Birth ball” and “Labor pain”. Inclusion criteria included Indonesian-language articles published between 2021-2023. Of the six studies analyzed, it was found that birth ball use significantly reduced the intensity of labor pain. These studies showed that birth balls can accelerate cervical opening and reduce anxiety of laboring mothers through movements that increase endorphin release. In conclusion, birth balls are effective as an alternative method to reduce labor pain in Stage I, providing the added benefit of increasing maternal comfort and relaxation during the labor process. This study suggests the use of birth ball as part of midwifery practice to reduce labor pain non-pharmacologically.
