Abstract

Padang City is one of the areas with the largest production of caught fish in West Sumatra, reaching 20,191.56 tons or worth IDR 479,442,842,000 in 2021. Fishermen's fish production is influenced by season and weather; if the weather is bad, the number of catches decreases, while during the harvest season, there is an oversupply which causes a lot of fish to be stored in cold storage. Apart from that, the flow of fish caught is not yet clear, causing the use of cold storage to be not optimal. This research aims to ensure that fish catches can be distributed optimally to final consumers, optimize the use of cold storage, and stabilize fish prices on the market to improve the fishermen's economy. The research method used is descriptive and qualitative methods with data collection techniques through field observations and interviews. The research results show that the supply chain for caught fish at the Bungus Fishery Port consists of a supply chain network for large and small catches. This network has three supply chain flows: the flow of goods, information, and money.

Abstract

Activities in carrying out work often make workers feel tired, especially work that requires continuity, skill and concentration. Work activities like this can be quite burdensome for mechanics, which can cause fatigue or injury to workers. On the other hand, a workload that is too light can cause workers to become bored or bored with their work. The aim of this research is to determine the workload in each division area studied, and to estimate the right number of workers for a particular position so that it can be a recommendation for companies regarding workload. The Full Time Equivalent (FTE) method is a method for measuring workload by measuring the length of time needed to complete a given task. After carrying out the calculations, the FTE index values are obtained as follows; 1) The press station mechanic is in the 4.39 category (overload), indicating that 2 more employees are needed. 2) General installation mechanics of 0.34 category (underload). This indicates that there is no need for additional employees, but perhaps a reduction in employees to 1 person. 3) Workshop mechanics amounted to 3.63 in the category (overload). This indicates that 2 more mechanics are needed. 4) Mechanical electrical installation is 0.45. This indicates that there is no need for additional mechanics in this area. By calculating the FTE method, it can be seen that there are 2 divisions that fall into the overload workload category, and 2 divisions that fall into the underload workload category. The results of this research are quantitative and from a macro perspective, so it is necessary to also consider socio-cultural factors with employment regulations.

Abstract

One of the industries in South Solok is a manufacturing company engaged in the Palm Oil Processing (PKS) industry. In order to maintain the quality and excellence of its products, this company must carry out more maintenance and monitoring of the smoothness of its production process. One of the more maintenance that must be carried out in this industry is maintenance of the screw press machine which often experiences obstacles during production, if a problem occurs with this machine, the processing process at the next station will be disrupted and can even stop operating. After conducting interviews with field supervisors, it can be concluded that screw press machines often experience problems such as stopping while operating due to less than optimal maintenance, and the age of the machine is old.

Abstract

Urea fertilizer in prill form is widely used for the food crop and industrial segments due to its high nitrogen content, easy solubility in water, and hygroscopic nature, making it suitable as a CRF (Controlled Release Fertilizer). CRF is a type of fertilizer that releases nutrients, specifically nitrogen, gradually and periodically, closely matching the absorption pattern of plants, ensuring that the nutrients are not washed away by water and are effectively utilized. In this study, CRF was made by coating urea with polyurethane using the pouring method. The optimum condition of the CRF was determined by testing the total nitrogen content using the Kjeldahl method and measuring the crushing strength. The optimum value was obtained with variable 2 (urea: coating agent at 98%: 2%) with a total nitrogen content of 45.5% and a crushing strength of 0.9 KgF.

Abstract

This research aims to see the effect of soaking nutmeg in a solution of whiting (Ca(OH)2) and the added sugar concentration on the characteristics of the jelly candy produced. This study used a factorial randomized block design (RAK) with 2 factors, namely the duration of soaking nutmeg flesh with lime solution (L) and sugar concentration (K). Factor 1, namely the duration of soaking with lime solution (L), consists of 3 levels, namely L1 (12 hours), L2 (24 hours), and L3 (36 hours). Factor 2, namely sugar concentration (K), consists of 3 levels, namely K1 60%, K2 80%, and K3 100% of the weight of nutmeg flesh. The results of the study showed that the duration of soaking in lime solution had a very significant effect on the water content, pH, reducing sugar, and astringent taste of the resulting nutmeg jelly candy. Sugar concentration has a very significant effect on reducing the soft texture of nutmeg jelly candy produced. The interaction of soaking time in lime solution and sugar concentration has a very significant effect on water content, reducing sugar, astringent taste, sweet taste, and soft texture of nutmeg jelly candy produced. Based on organoleptic value, the best treatment based on the ranking method, nutmeg fruit flesh soaked in lime solution for 12 hours and 100% sugar concentration (L1K3), is the best combination of treatments in making nutmeg jelly candy, which produces jelly candy with a water content of 21.90%, an ash content of 1.66%, pH 5.17, reducing sugar to 20.49%, and an and an organoleptic color (opaque appearance). 3.68 (neutral), shiny appearance 3.67 (neutral) aroma 3.67 (neutral), sweet taste 4.48 (neutral) astringent taste 4.68 (rather strong) soft texture 2.57 (rather weak) and chewy texture 3.58 (neutral).
