Journal of Child, Family and Consumer Studies (JCFC) is a scientific journal that publishes research results. Abstract

An optimistic life is important to everyone. An external factors that contributes to life optimism of adolescent are interactions with parents and peers. This study aims to analyze the influence of adolescent’s and family’s characteristics and parental and peer attachment on adolescent's optimism in life. This study used a cross-sectional research method in senior high schools and vocational schools located in Bekasi City, West Java. Total of 256 students were participated in the study. The results showed that most adolescents had a secure attachment to their parents and peers,and a high degree of optimism in life. The study also found that parent-child attachment has a significant positive relationship and influence on teeanger's life optimism. Further analysis showed that the mother-peer attachment model had a higher influence on teeanger's life optimism than the father-peer attachment model, although both models has significant influence.

Abstract

Adjustment is an ability to make satisfying relationships between individuals and the surrounding environment. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship and influence of parenting style and social support on adolescent adjustment to Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) families. This research method uses non-probability sampling method with convenience sampling technique at 10 schools in Kesugihan District, Cilacap Regency, Central Java. This study involved 160 junior high school youth whose parents were migrant workers abroad. The index of the average parenting style of the mother is better than the index of the average parenting style of the father and the substitute caregiver. The social support from peers and teachers received by adolescents is in the low category. Adolescent adjustment to migrant worker families is in the moderate category. The results showed that the parenting styles of fathers, mothers, substitute caregivers, peer social support, and teachers had a significant positive relationship with adolescent self-adjustment as well as a significant positive effect on adolescent self-adjustment in PMI families.

Abstract

Human needs are so complex that it causes a mismatch between expenses and income generated. Debt is an alternative that is chosen so that family needs are still met, even though being in debt is prone to stress risks. This study aims to analyze the relationship between sources of stress, coping strategies, and stress symptoms, as well as the influence of sources of stress and coping strategies on the stress symptoms of illegal loans customers' families. The subjects in this study were active illegal loans customers in Purwasari Village. The sampling technique used simple random sampling method, which included quantitative research, with a sample size of 60 people. Data and information were collected through direct interviews using a questionnaire. Data were processed using descriptive, correlation, and multiple linear regression tests. The results showed that almost all sources of stress were in the low category, all coping strategies were in the low category, and more than half of the stress symptoms were in the low category. There is a significant positive relationship between the number of children and sources of stress, sources of stress are also significantly positively related to coping strategies and stress symptoms. There is a positive influence on the number of banks and sources of stress on the stress symptoms of illegal loans customers.

Abstract

Lack of interaction and communication between husband and wife in various aspects of family life will cause conflict and disharmony. The purpose of the study was to identify interactions, husband-wife roles, and marital satisfaction of dual earner families with school children. The study involved 60 families consisting of 30 husbands and 30 non-partnered wives who are workers in Bandung Regency, West Java. Data were collected online using voluntary sampling technique. Husband-wife interaction was in the moderate category, husband-wife roles were in the low category for husbands and moderate for wives, and marital satisfaction was in the moderate category. The correlation test results show that there is a positive significant relationship between family income, husband-wife interaction, and husband-wife roles with marital satisfaction. The regression test results show that age, husband-wife interaction, the bonding and balanced relationship dimensions of the husband-wife interaction variable, and the social activity dimension of the husband-wife role variable have a positive effect on marital satisfaction. In increasing marital satisfaction, husband and wife are expected to be good at managing emotions, adjusting themselves, maintaining conjugal interactions, strengthening bonding and balanced relationships, and carrying out social activities.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted family life mechanisms, especially families with multiple roles of women. The purpose of this study is to analyze women's dual roles, coping strategies, and family resilience during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study involved 100 mothers working in the formal sector who have school-age children (elementary school). The research location is in the Bogor Regency area, West Java. Sampling was conducted by non-probability sampling using voluntary sampling technique. The data obtained were then processed using Microsoft Office Excel 2010 software and analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 25 program. Data processing was carried out using descriptive analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between family characteristics, women's dual roles, coping strategies, and family resilience. The regression test results show that women's dual roles have a positive effect on family resilience. It is expected that families with dual roles of women can increase their contribution in the public environment through various activities such as PKK (Family Welfare Development), committees for celebrating holidays, community organizations and others. further research is expected to examine the dual role of women through two perspectives, namely the husband's side and the wife's side so that the data produced is more accurate.

Abstract

Competition in the business of ride-hailing services has also increased along with the rapid development of technology. This study aims to analyze the effect of perceptions of loyalty programs and the level of consumer satisfaction on the level of loyalty of Grab consumers. This study used a cross sectional study design and a survey method using an online questionnaire. The analysis carried out using descriptive analysis, Spearman correlation test using SPSS 25, and the influence test using the SEM method using Smart PLS. The population of this study is Indonesian society aged 18-50 years and using Grab services more than three times in the past three months. Respondents were selected by voluntary sampling with a total of 176 respondents. The results of the study found that there was no relationship between the characteristics of respondents and the perceived loyalty program, consumer satisfaction, and consumer loyalty. The Grab loyalty program that is well perceived by consumers can increase the level of Grab consumer loyalty. Then, the increasing level of consumer satisfaction can increase the level of Grab consumer loyalty

Abstract

Interest in using peer to peer lending (P2P) is a drive that comes from within a person to make online loans. Along with increasing internet access and device users in Indonesia, P2P service customers also show a significant increase every year. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of financial literacy and self-efficacy on interest in using peer to peer lending. This study uses an explanatory design on 234 samples of millennial generation in Jabodetabek selected through purposive sampling technique with online data collection method. Data processing and analysis were conducted using Microsoft Excel 2010 software and IBM Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 22.0. The process of coding, editing, scoring, entering and cleaning data was carried out using the Microsoft Excel 2010 program. The results showed that financial literacy and self-efficacy were in the moderate category, while interest in use was categorized as low. Regression tests show that the number of dependents, types of debt loans, and attitudes towards P2P lending have a significant positive effect on interest in using P2P lending, while financial knowledge has a significant negative effect on interest in using P2P lending. The scope of research is suggested to be spread evenly from various provinces and tribes in Indonesia, so that the results obtained are more accurate and become a reference for the government to improve performance on financial technology lending.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic had a considerable impact on adolescents, including reducing adolescents activities outside the home, conducting schools online and increasing stress. This study aims to analyze the effect of parenting styles, and adolescent interactions with parents on the subjective well-being of adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic. Research respondents were grade 12 students of SMKN 2 and SMKN 3 Bangkalan. Sampling technique using simple random sampling method with a total sample of 197 adolescents. The results of the study found that there were differences in the subjective well-being of adolescents, namely lower subjective well-being during the COVID19 pandemic. Based on the results of the study, adolescent age was significantly negatively related to the subjective well-being of adolescents before the COVID-19 pandemic. The education of father and mother is significantly positively related to adolescent-mother interaction. Adolescent age, family size, and authoritarian parenting style have a significant negative effect on the subjective well-being of adolescents before the COVID-19 pandemic. Permissive, authoritarian parenting styles, and adolescent interactions with fathers have a significant positive effect on adolescents' subjective well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Advertisements with organic claims must be able to be proven by how the product is made, the ingredients used, and legal organic certification. Providing correct information is a form of consumer education and protection. This study aims to analyze video advertisements of organic food claims on YouTube social media. The results of the analysis are adjusted in fulfillment of the Consumer Protection Law (UUPK) Number 8 of 1999. This research analyzes the variables of product characteristics, video characteristics, advertising characteristics, and organic claims using the content analysis method and exploratory design. The sample selection was carried out using purposive sampling technique with certain characteristics. The research sample is 200 organic claim advertising videos on YouTube. Data were collected and processed using Microsoft Excel, SPSS 25.0, and Voyant. The results of the analysis show that 62,5 percent of ads use subjective claims and 64,5 percent of ads do not have organic certification. There were 91,5 percent of ads that violated article 17 and 29,0 percent of ads that violated the Ethics of Indonesian Advertising (EPI). Consumers need to improve their knowledge and understanding of organic claim advertisements and be careful in deciding product purchases.

Abstract

The ease of information related to a cosmetic product through electronic word of mouth and financial literacy owned by millennial and Z generations can trigger purchasing decisions. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of financial literacy and electronic word of mouth on purchasing decisions in millennial and Z generations. The study used an explanatory research study design and voluntary sampling technique with a total of 122 millennial and Z generation respondents in Indonesia. Based on the results of the research, both generations have financial knowledge and financial attitudes in the low category, and the millennial generation's financial behavior are in the high category and generation Z is in the medium category. The electronic word of mouth variable is in the low category and generation Z's purchasing decisions are in the medium to high category and the millennial generation are in the medium category. Regression test shows that the education, financial literacy have a significant negative effect on purchasing decisions, while electronic word of mouth has a significant positive effect on purchasing decisions. The government and related stakeholders need to provide education related to financial literacy and sort out the right information about a product.
