Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is a disease that is a major public health problem throughout the world. Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest dengue cases in the world. One of the largest dengue cases in Indonesia is in East Java Province whic h reached 5,733 cases. Dengue fever is transmitted to humans through the Aedes aegypti mosquito infected with the dengue virus. The way to control DHF is to control the vector, namely by breaking the mosquito life cycle using selective and safe biological larvicides. Plants that have potential as biological larvicides are pulutan ( Urena lobata L.) especially the leaves. Pulutan leaves are used as biological larvicides through an extract purification process. This study aims to determine the toxicity of puri fied extract of pulutan leaf ( Urena lobata L.) ethanol fraction on mortality of Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae. Toxicity based on WHO standard (2002), was determined by LC 50 of purified extract of pulutan leaf ethanol fraction on mortality of Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae. Results Based on probit analysis using the Minitab 14 application software, the LC 50 value was 905,36 5 ppm with a lower limit of 810 , 626 ppm and an upper limit o f 992 , 277 ppm. According to this study, purified extract of pulutan leaf ethanol fraction was toxic to Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae and had a larvicidal effect

Abstract

The content of formalin in salted fish needs to be known by the public in an easy and inexpensive way. Purple sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) is one of the plants that contains anthocyanin which will show a color change when reacted with formalin. This study aims to determine whether purple sweet potato extract can detect formalin content in salted fish. The method used is a pure experiment with 5 treatments and 5 replications. Salted fish samples were made by the researcher himself, while purple sweet potato was extracted with a dose ratio of 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3 (v purple sweet potato extract /v aquadest). The observation parameter was the time when the color changed from purple to reddish in the salted fish sample after being dripped with purple sweet potato extract. The data were analyzed statistically using the Kurskall-Wallis test and continued with Duncan's test. The results of the analysis showed that purple sweet potato extract could detect the presence of formalin in salted fish samples (p < 0.05). The treatment with a dose of 1: 1 was able to detect the fastest formalin content at 735.40 seconds compared to treatment 1: 2 (915.20) and treatment 1: 3 (1038.40). This time is close to the time required by the positive control treatment (607.80). The conclusion of this study confirms that purple sweet potato can be used by the public to detect formalin content in food.

Abstract

Student worksheet based on Problem Based Learning (PBL) is a learning media that presents questions in the form of contextual problems so as to stimulate students' thinking skills. This type of research is development research using the Thiagarajan model or the Four-D Model which aims to describe the process and results of developing PBL-based student worksheets for class VIII students on Prism material that is valid, practical, and effective in training students' creative thinking skills. The method used in this research is the questionnaire method to determine the validity and practicality of the student worksheets and the test method to determine the effectiveness. The results of this study are the achievement of increasing students' creative thinking skills with very good interpretations. The student worksheets based on PBL model on prism material produced were declared valid, practical, and effective. This student worksheet could be used to improve students' creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Stunting sufferers in Jember Regency have increased from 17,344 in2018 to 19,870 in 2019. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential ofedamame soyghurt as an alternative complementary food for stunting sufferers. Theexperimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with differentcombinations of treatments on edamame juice, skim milk, and starter. The result wasanalyse of organoleptic include taste, color, aroma, and texture with hedonic testusing 10 panelists non-skilled. Based on the result of organoleptic, the average valueof preference ranges from taste between 3.2-3.4 (slightly like to like), aroma 3.6-3.9(slightly like to like), color 3.1-4.2 (slightly like to like) like), texture 3.5-4 (slightlylike to like). The best treatment was in the combination of edamame soyghurttreatment in the proportions of skim milk 150 (%w/v), edamame juice 730 (%v/v),and sucrose 50 (%w/v) with starter 70 (%w/v).
