NEOLOGIA: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia is a peer-reviewed scientific open access journal, with e-ISSN 2829-9612 and p-ISSN 2087-2496. It has been published by the Department of Indonesian Language and Literature, Faculty of Language and Literature, Universitas Negeri Makassar. NEOLOGIA is published since 2010. NEOLOGIA is issued semiannually: in February and Auguts. NEOLOGIA publishes manuscripts on research in linguistics and literature. NEOLOGIA features research novelties and significance for scientific advancement in one of the fields of the published manuscripts. This journal welcomes submissions from around the world as well as from Indonesia. Manuscripts published include but are not limited to the following. Linguistics; phonology, morphology, syntax, discourse analysis, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, and critical discourse analysis. Literature: local literature studies, Indonesian literature, foreign literature studies, children literature, literature studies for character education, and other literary studies. Abstract

This research aims to describe the linguistic style of Kiky Saputri irony and sarcasm in the show “Lapor Pak”; describe the meaning of Kiky Saputri's language style of irony and sarcasm in the show "Lapor Pak". This research uses qualitative research with qualitative descriptive methods. The research results showed that Kiky Saputri used 4 verbal irony data and 2 situational irony data in the "Lapor Pak" broadcast. Apart from that, there are 2 data of action sarcasm, 3 data of sarcasm as a result of action, 2 data of appeal sarcasm, and 2 data of epithet sarcasm. The meaning of the language styles of irony and sarcasm includes criticism, ridicule, satire, as well as conveying messages directly or indirectly, including criticism of someone's quote or statement. The conclusion of this research is that the dominant language style used by Kiky Saputri is the form of verbal irony and sarcasm resulting from actions. The use of irony and sarcasm is effective in criticizing social and political issues, and has a strong and memorable impact on the audience.

Abstract

This study aims to interpet cultural symbols in the novel Gugur Bunga Kedaton by Wahyu Haryono using Paul Ricoeur’s hermeneutic approach, which involves three step: understanding symbols, interpreting their meaning, and reflecting on their significance. This qualitative descriptive research analysis data in the form of words, phrases, or clauses found in the novel. Data collection was conducted using reading and note-taking method. The data analysis technique involved data reduction, data presentation, and verification or conclusion drawing. The result indicate that cultural symbols reflect human activities, including ideas, action and artifacts such as kanuragan, semedi, Sanghyang Kamahayanikan, wahyu keprabon, sowan, kungkum, sirep Megananda, and serat geguritan. these symbols represent the cultural life of the Majapahit and Demak Kingdom in the 15th-16th centuries, while also revealing hidden meanings within their social and cultural context.

Abstract

This research aims to implement interactive media of digital snakes and ladders games in learning popular scientific article texts and assess its impact on student engagement and understanding. The background of this study is based on the low activity and motivation of students in participating in Indonesian language learning, especially in the material of popular scientific article texts which demand critical thinking skills and active communication. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with the subjects being students of class VIII E and VIII G at SMP Negeri 6 Cimahi. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation and questionnaires. The results showed that the use of digital snakes and ladders learning media significantly increased students' enthusiasm, learning spirit, and understanding of the material. Both classes showed positive responses to the learning media used, with good average scores in terms of enthusiasm, cooperation, understanding of the material, and a positive attitude. Although there are minor differences between the two classes in some aspects, in general, this media has proven effective in creating an interactive and meaningful learning atmosphere. Thus, digital snake and ladder game media can be an innovative alternative in Indonesian language learning that supports the development of 21st-century competencies.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the moral values contained in Mamasa folk tales. The focus of this study is how moral values are expressed in these folk tales. This study uses a qualitative approach with documentation techniques as the data collection method. The data sources are from the stories ‘Culadidi’, ‘Sarepeo and Saretalana’, ‘Tomase-mase’, and ‘Petani Sawah’ (The Rice Farmer) which are compiled in the book Cerita Rakyat Masyarakat Mamasa (Folktales of the Mamasa People). The main instrument in this study is the researcher himself with the help of data cards to record the findings. The results of the study show that the four Mamasa folk tales contain three main moral values, namely caring, perseverance, and generosity. The value of caring is reflected in empathy and concern for others, which strengthens social harmony. The value of perseverance is evident in the characters' spirit of never giving up in the face of various life challenges. Meanwhile, the value of generosity is evident in the attitude of willingness to share and humility, which reinforces the meaning of gratitude and true happiness. The conclusion of this study is that Mamasa folk tales contain important moral messages in shaping the character and social culture of the community.

Abstract

This research aims to: describe the characteristics of hyperbolic language style and describe the function of using hyperbolic language style in the novel "Pulang" by Tere Liye. This type of research is qualitative. The instruments used in this research are human instruments or the researchers themselves. The data collection technique in this research uses library study techniques. The data analysis technique used in this research is the Miles and Huberman model which includes data reduction, data display and conclusion. The results of this research show that the novel "Pulang" by Tere Liye uses four characteristics of hyperbolic language style, namely unreasonableness such as describing the character of a situation that is far beyond reasonable possibilities, exaggeration such as mentioning passionate feelings or unbearable suffering. , dramatic such as creating a dramatization of the emotional power of a conflict or climactic moment, and has the ability to influence the reader or listener to feel a certain intensity and accept a stronger idea. Furthermore, the function of hyperbolic language style in the novel "Pulang" by Tere Liye is to provide a dramatic effect to increase tension and create deep feelings, to beautify sentences to create impressive images, to make the story more lively and colorful, to emphasize emotions to present deep emotional nuances, and increase the attraction to the reader to create an amazing picture, so that the novel is more interesting and beautiful.

Abstract

 Research entitled “Magical Form in the Novel Negeri Para Roh by Rosi L. Simamora: A Study of Magical Realism by Wendy B. Faris” sim to describe the characteristics of magical realism and the dominant magical realism characteristics in the novel Negeri Para Roh by Rosi L. Simamora. which was studied using Wendy B. Faris's theory of magical realism. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research method to collect and filter data. Based on the results of the analysis using five characteristics of magical realism, novel Negeri Para Roh by Rosi L. Simamora fulfills five characteristics of magical realism. Magical realism narrated of novel not only loaded with Faris's magical realism, but also strengthens a belief of the Asmat tribe. The dominant characteristic in the study is the characteristic of unsettling doubt. This is based on the narrative contained in the novel Land of the Dominant Spirits that brings the reader to the point of doubt.

Abstract

This research aims to reflect the ife of society in the new order regime contamined in the novel Laut Bercerita by Leila S. Chudori using Ian Watt sociology of literature study. The focus is on te social context of the author’s reflection of the society in the novel Laut Bercerita using a qualitative descriptive method and literary text analysis. The result show that there are 8 forms of social reflectionin the novel Laut Bercerita which contains discrimination, intimidation, repression, authoritarian, injustice fear, and anxiety of the community some of these social reality phenomena are perfectly poured into the novel’s work of fiction.
