Abstract

Plantations in the East Kolaka region are no longer productive, leading to a decline in production and even no production. The community has made their plantation land more effective to increase production output. This initiative has led to plans to change the use of plantation land into paddy fields in the region, supported by the government through the construction of the Ladongi dam. This change in land use has led to varying views and responses from each farmer. This study aims to understand the farmers' reactions to the change in land use from plantation land to paddy fields in East Kolaka. The population involved consists of all 39 farmers who have changed their land use from plantation to rice fields, and using the census method, 39 farmers were obtained as research samples. Data were collected from surveys, direct interviews with farmers, and literature from related agencies. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis with the Likert scale as the measuring tool. The results were grouped into several items with scoring values. The study's findings indicate that farmers' perceptions regarding the change from plantation to rice fields in East Kolaka Regency are positive, falling into the medium category with a score of 3.39.

Abstract

This study aims to determine broiler chickens' production performance in a closed-house system. The research was conducted in a closed-house system with a capacity of 22,000 CP 707 strains at plasma breeders of PT. Prosperous Star Together. The variables used in this study include harvested body weight, body weight gain, Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), Performance Index (IP) and percentage of depletion. The research technique used is direct observation in the field. Sampling uses simple random sampling, where the sample is randomly selected from a specified number. Analysis tools used descriptive method. The measurement data will be compared with the performance standards of broiler chickens according to PT. Charoen Pokphand. The results showed that the average body weight at 25 days was 1.614 kg/head, increased body weight was 1.564 kg/head, FCR was 1.36, IP was 465.45 and depletion percentage was 1.95%. The conclusion that can be drawn from the results of this study is that the production performance of broiler chickens kept in a closed-house system reaches the standards of PT. Charoen Pokphand.

Abstract

Cattle farming plays a crucial role in ensuring food security and meeting the protein requirements of humans. It is not only appealing due to its simplicity in care but also because it can make use of plant-based feed. Artificial insemination (AI) can be employed to boost the cattle population. This study aimed to analyze the factors influencing the success of AI in beef cattle within the East Langsa District of Langsa City. The sampling method utilized was purposive sampling, involving 42 respondents. Statistical analysis involved classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, and hypothesis testing to identify the factors impacting the success of AI in beef cattle. Data processing was conducted using the SPSS computer software. The results revealed that the AI tool variables (X2), including inseminator origin, inseminator service, AI success rate, and AI equipment, had a significant effect (significance value 0.010) on the success of artificial insemination (Y). Similarly, the inseminator variable (X4), involving inseminator ability without special education, AI special education, inseminator ability to detect cattle in heat, and the inseminator's capability to insert frozen semen into the uterus even when the animal is not in heat, demonstrated a significant impact. Conversely, examining the livestock condition variable (X1), such as no sick cows in the last year, cows in good health before AI, and yearly calving, did not exhibit a significant effect (significance value 0.816). Further research is urgently required, incorporating additional variables to strengthen the factors that can enhance artificial insemination and increase livestock production.

Abstract

Karanganyar Village is located in Langsa City and has prospects for Etawa goat farming (Capra aegagrus hircus). The demand for meat produced by Etawa goats (milk and meat) constantly increases. Efforts have been made to increase the livestock population, production, and productivity to meet market demand. Quantitative descriptive research was conducted to analyze the external and internal factors influencing the development of the Village-owned enterprises (BUMG) for Etawa goat farming in Karanganyar Village, Langsa Baro District, Langsa City, and to formulate a business development strategy. The research locations were purposefully chosen using the purposive method, and the respondents were selected using the purposive sampling method. The study included 5 respondents: livestock owners, managers, disease supervisors and controllers, expert lecturers, and consumers. Data was collected through a questionnaire, and the respondents were determined using purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using the EFE matrix, IFE matrix, and SWOT matrix to analyze the external factors (opportunities and threats) and internal factors (strengths and weaknesses). The results of this study indicate that to increase goat milk production. Several measures can be taken, such as increasing the goat population, increasing the number of male broodstock to accelerate breeding, using substitute feed such as tofu dregs as an additional main feed along with forage, and utilizing goat manure as organic fertilizer. Establishing strict operational standards (SOP) and supervision by relevant agencies is urgently needed to ensure the effective implementation of the policies and the success of the goat farming business in Karanganyar Village.

Abstract

Indonesia is primarily an agricultural country with a wealth of natural resources, making agriculture one of the most significant foundations of the nation's economy. One initiative in agricultural growth is organic farming. Organic farming requires that chemical compounds not pollute the land used and have good accessibility. One of the efforts to prevent agricultural and environmental pollution is to use organic fertilizers. Organic fertilizers are obtained from the utilization of livestock waste. Farmers still do not fully use organic fertilizers in their farming. So, motivation is needed to encourage farmers to utilize livestock waste as organic fertilizer. This study aimed to investigate the elements that affect farmer motivation, the extent to which farmers are motivated to use animal waste, and the variables that affect farmers' motivation to use livestock waste as organic fertilizer. The sample data collection technique was purposive. As many as 77 farmer respondents used livestock waste. Multiple linear regression analysis is employed in this study's quantitative descriptive methodology to examine the elements that influence farmers' decisions to use animal manure. The study's findings indicate that while non-formal education falls into the high category, internal criteria like age, experience, and formal education fall into the moderate category. External elements are categorized in the high category and consist of capital accessibility, infrastructure accessibility, and counseling intensity. Farmers' motivation to use animal manure is another indicator of their high level of motivation. Age, formal education, and non-formal education are internal factors that have no impact on farmers' inclination to use animal waste; nevertheless, farming experience has an impact. Farmers' willingness to use livestock waste is influenced by external factors such as the accessibility of capital, the quality of infrastructure, and the level of counseling.
