Abstract

The establishment of the Old Testament Canon in the Catholic Church is a long and complex process that aims to determine which books are legitimately recognized as part of the Bible. The establishment of the Canon of Old Testament Scripture in the Catholic Church is so complex that there are various types of implementation of the canon of Old Testament Scripture and commentaries of biblical scholars, as well as the explanation of Old Testament Scripture to other religious communities. The division of the canon of Old Testament Scripture that is used today has criteria, it did not just appear out of nowhere and this must be considered carefully. Then there is the difference between the Jewish, Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant canons, as well as the division of the Old Testament Scriptures from the Pentateuch, the Historical Books, the Wisdom Books and the Apocryphal books. It is evident that the official listing of a work takes into account its author, content, and usefulness. In the context of the Old Testament Scriptures, canon means the official list of books recognized by the Catholic/Protestant/Orthodox Church/ or the Jewish religion after a long process of selection and determination. The existence of this official list of books means that it is no longer possible to reduce or add to it (cf. Deut. 4:2).

Abstract

Sekar madya is sung in groups of more than two people simultaneously without the process of translating the contents of the song text. The introduction of sekar madya still uses media in the form of books so that people cannot have it instantly and the interest generated does not last consistently, therefore an interactive introduction media is needed that can be utilized by the people in Bali. The design of the Sekar Madya Voice Art Introduction application is in accordance with the research method used, namely the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method. This method consists of six stages, namely concept (concept creation), design (design/draft), material collecting (material collection), assembly (compilation/creation), testing (testing) and distribution (dissemination). First, a mobile-based sekar madya introduction application has been produced using the MDLC method to preserve the tradition of reading Hindu literature and Balinese culture. Second, this application is used as a medium for introducing sekar madya but can also be used to document cultural heritage in digital form. Third, this multimedia application has been successfully built using Adobe Flash Professional Cc with the Action Script 3.0 programming language as the creation of programs and animations, while for the design using Corel Draw X7, then for video and audio editing using Adobe Premiere. And fourth, Based on system testing using the black box testing method, the results of the test show that the functionality of the system created is in accordance with the needs analysis and system design.

Abstract

The phenomenon of sexual deviation is rampant as a form of refinement of the occurrence of various immoral cases in the world. In fact, the phenomenon of sexual deviation often occurs in environments or institutions that are labeled as religious. This happens because of the cult of taboo terms in sexuality which until now has been understood by humanity collectively. This indicates that there has been a polarization of thought that has occurred since ancient times, which distinguishes the corridors of spirituality and sexuality in a thick barrier. In this case, sexuality becomes something that is destructive and has negative connotations. Likewise with Tantra, which is always given negative connotations because its teachings contain sexual concepts as a form of ritual. To obtain valid and comprehensive data, this paper uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, meaning that this research is carried out by analyzing and describing various data obtained through the collection of data that has been collected, then synthesizing the data, namely through the process of sorting and selecting various relevant data so as to be able to produce an accurate research synthesis. In its development, Tantra is viewed in two conflicting paradigms, so it needs to be studied in the dialectic of thought, because Tantra is a teaching that has gone global, and the term Tantra has become familiar in human development socially. In this paper, a holistic understanding of Tantra is presented as a medium for constructing transcendental consciousness through erotic rituals. In the view of Tantra, sexuality is one of the efforts to achieve freedom because the teachings of Tantra are not only defined as limited to sexual or biological activities, but there are divine values in them. As a factual form, Tantra spirituality is the compounding of the elements of kama petak and kama bang into Kama Dewa (Ongkara), which in the semiotic view is understood as a state of God that is full of tranquility and without attachment to the elements of awidya.

Abstract

Bhuta Yajna is part of the five Yajna ceremonies commonly performed in Bali. Through Bhuta Yajna, humans maintain the balance of nature, which is an implementation of the Tri Hita Karana teaching. One of the texts that discusses Bhuta Yajna is the Aji Swamandala text. The study of Bhuta Yajna in this text is a form of qualitative research that employs hermeneutic theory to analyze it, using the Aji Swamandala text as the primary source, which has been translated and transcribed. The form of Bhuta Yajna in the Aji Swamandala text includes Caru, specifically Caruning Sasih, which serves to harmonize time, and Tawur Kesanga, known as Caruning Palemahan, which functions to harmonize nature and maintain environmental peace. The theological meaning behind the practice of Bhuta Yajna is related to Totemism Theology, which originates from animism—the belief that spirits inhabit the entire world. In this theological perspective, animals and plants are considered suitable substitutes for human sacrifices in the effort to create a harmonious world.

Abstract

Pandita as a clergy has a position and authority in the religious life of Hindu society. The aguron-guron system is an educational system developed by Hinduism to teach knowledge and skills in the religious field. The system is still very relevant to pass on spiritual knowledge in the process of giving birth to a pandita/sulinggih. Research related to pewisik nabe in the diksa kepurusan ceremony of Griya Agung Bongkasa because this griya is one of the old griyas with a long lineage and is committed to developing the aguron-guron system. There are three problems discussed in this study, namely related to the form of the aguro-guron system of Griya Bongkasa, the function of pawisik Nabe in the diksa ceremony at Griya Agung Bangkasa, and the meaning of Hindu theology in pawisik Nabe in the diksa ceremony at Griya Agung Bangkasa. This qualitative research with a theological approach uses Religion theory, structural functionalism theory and symbolic interactionism to dissect the problem so that the data can be presented in a qualitative description. The aguron-guron system in Griya Agung Bangkasa has educational, religious, and social functions. And the last is related to the implications of the aguron-guron system in Griya Agung Bangkasa which raises educational, theological, and sociological implications both internally and externally. This aguron-guron system is special because of the Nabe pawisik at the diksa ceremony at Griya Agung Bangkasa as an effort to improve the quality of aguron-guron education carried out. The exclusive aguron-guron system is the best choice in providing spiritual education. This system can enrich the education system so as to create a holistic education.

Abstract

Catur Paramita is a moral and spiritual teaching in Hinduism that emphasizes four main virtues: Maitri (loving-kindness), Karuna (compassion), Mudita (joy for the happiness of others), and Upeksa (inner peace). These four virtues aim to provide guidance for humans to live a life full of harmony, balance, and peace. As a moral guideline, this teaching not only helps individuals develop noble character but also creates harmonious relationships between humans, nature, and God. Maitri teaches universal love without discrimination, thus encouraging the creation of mutual respect and tolerance. Karuna instills an attitude of compassion, which encourages humans to help others sincerely. Mudita is an attitude of sharing in the success and happiness of others, which helps avoid envy. Upeksa teaches inner peace and the ability to be neutral in facing difficult situations, thus creating peace within oneself. The implementation of this teaching is expected to be able to create a harmonious society, where the values of virtue are the basis for living life. Harmonious relationships with fellow human beings encourage the creation of social peace.  Harmony with nature helps maintain environmental sustainability, while a close relationship with God strengthens an individual's spirituality. The Catur Paramita serve as guidelines for achieving the perfection of life, both in this world and in the afterlife. By applying these teachings, each individual can live a life full of virtue, create inner balance, and contribute to a peaceful and prosperous life for all beings..
