Abstract

Mastering abstract chemistry concepts such as the colloid system requires effective instructional strategies that promote active knowledge construction. This study aimed to investigate the impact of the guided inquiry learning model on students' conceptual understanding of colloid systems. A quantitative pre-experimental approach with an intact-group comparison design was employed. Utilizing purposive sampling, 47 eleventh-grade students from an Islamic Senior High School in Indonesia were selected and divided into an experimental group (n=27) taught using guided inquiry and a control group (n=20) taught using conventional teacher-centered methods. Data were collected using a validated two-tier multiple-choice diagnostic post-test to evaluate conceptual mastery and uncover underlying misconceptions. The independent sample t-test analysis revealed a statistically significant difference (p = 0.000 0.05) between the two groups. The experimental group achieved a higher average score (74.41, High category) compared to the control group (58.86, Moderate category). Furthermore, the diagnostic test demonstrated that guided inquiry substantially increased true conceptual understanding and effectively minimized the rates of student misconceptions and complete lack of understanding. The findings conclude that guided inquiry is a highly effective instructional model for enhancing meaningful learning in chemistry, assisting students in connecting macroscopic observations with theoretical concepts, although further scaffolding is needed for submicroscopic particle-level mechanisms.

Abstract

Cashless payment usage has become an important part of the digital economy, particularly among Generation Z, who are recognized as the most active users of digital financial services. This study examines the effects of multidimensional digital financial literacy and trust on cashless payment usage among Generation Z in Banyumas Regency, Indonesia. This study employed a quantitative approach by collecting questionnaire data from 153 respondents, which were analyzed using PLS-SEM 4. The findings reveal that multidimensional digital financial literacy and trust have positive and significant effects on cashless payment usage, whereas gender does not have a significant direct effect. The results of the moderating analysis further reveal that gender weakens the positive relationship between multidimensional digital financial literacy and cashless payment usage, while gender does not moderate the relationship between trust and cashless payment usage. These findings suggest that cashless payment usage among Generation Z is driven primarily by digital financial literacy and trust, while gender does not significantly influence the direct relationship or moderate the relationship between trust and cashless payment usage. By integrating the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), conceptualizing digital financial literacy as a multidimensional construct, and incorporating trust into the proposed research model, this study provides a more comprehensive understanding of cashless payment usage among Generation Z. The findings also provide practical implications for policymakers, financial institutions, and educational institutions in designing digital financial literacy programs that support the sustainable adoption of cashless payment services among young consumers.

Abstract

This study analyzes the construction of the authority of the Civil Service Police Unit-Satpol PP in the control and demolition of unauthorized buildings and formulates administrative due process standards as legal limits on local government action. The study is motivated by the fact that demolition practices are frequently contested not only because of the effectiveness of regional regulation enforcement, but also because of unclear legal authority, overlapping institutional roles, and weak traceability of administrative accountability. This research employs a normative juridical method using statutory, conceptual, and limited case approaches. The legal materials examined include legislation, administrative law doctrine, and public administration scholarship relevant to administrative enforcement, discretion, procedural legitimacy, and accountability. The findings show that Satpol PP occupies an important position as an operational administrative enforcement actor; however, the legality of demolition cannot rest solely on its general public order function. The validity of demolition requires a coherent linkage between the verification of violations by the competent technical authority, follow-up determinations by authorized officials, proportionate stages of enforcement, and complete documentation of official action. These findings underscore the importance of structuring both the architecture of authority and the administration of official action in order to ensure lawful, proportionate, and accountable enforcement of Regional Regulations.

Abstract

Reading comprehension remains one of the most critical yet persistently underperforming dimensions of elementary literacy education worldwide. Despite decades of instructional reform, large proportions of primary school students continue to demonstrate inadequate text comprehension skills, particularly in settings where teacher-centered pedagogies dominate daily classroom practice. This study addressed an observed gap between established collaborative learning theory and its systematic application in reading instruction at the elementary level. The research aimed to examine how collaborative learning strategies could be implemented to improve students' reading comprehension and to trace participation changes across action cycles. Using a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design following the Kemmis and McTaggart model, this study was conducted over two cycles in a Grade 4 class of 28 students at a public elementary school in Indonesia. Data were collected using reading comprehension tests, structured observation sheets, teacher field notes, a reflective journal, and a student participation checklist. Triangulation was applied to establish credibility across data sources. Descriptive statistics and percentage improvement analysis were used for quantitative trends, while reflective narrative analysis was applied to qualitative findings. Baseline mean comprehension scores stood at 56.4, rising to 68.9 at the end of Cycle 1 and reaching 79.6 by the conclusion of Cycle 2. Student participation rates improved from 42.3% to 61.8% and ultimately to 84.5% across the same period. These findings support the pedagogical efficacy of structured collaborative reading activities in elementary classrooms and indicate that reflective teacher-researcher practice is essential for sustained literacy gains. Implications for literacy instruction, classroom organization, and formative assessment are discussed.

Abstract

The Aceh Tsunami Museum is a monumental symbol of the collective memory and resilience of the Acehnese people in the aftermath of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Designed by Ridwan Kamil, the building was originally intended as a memorial and educational facility, but over time it has faced challenges in maintaining the philosophical spirit that underpins its architectural form. This architectural critique study uses a descriptive-reflective qualitative approach with a dialectical architectural thinking critique method through the basic idea of Spirit of Place on the mental connection between humans and places in architectural design principles towards the concept of metaphorical architecture as a meaning-forming element, presenting the Tsunami Museum building in Banda Aceh as a research object. The dialectic between ideal ideas and empirical reality is the focus of the research analysis, which is presented between the reflection of the physical space and the mentality of visitors, referring to specific findings. The results of the reflection show a shift in design, whereby the symbolic power of the museum through its spiral shape, water, and lighting has created a strong vertical monumental impression, while the study of the spirit of place dialectic shows a horizontal design direction interpreted from the widespread impact of the damage.

Abstract

The study of folklore is not solely theory and text oriented, it must also provide contextual learning experiences through authentic cultural artifacts. As institutions dedicated to cultural preservation, museums house collections that reflect the diversity of folklore. Based on this premise, this study was conducted to describe the utilization of museum collections as learning resources for folklore courses in the Indonesian Language Education Program at Malikussaleh University. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach. The data sources for this study include the folklore course instructor, students, and the curator of the Samudera Pasai Islamic Museum. Data collection techniques involved observation, questionnaires, and documentation. Based on the research findings, it was discovered that museum collections have strong relevance as a learning resource for the folklore course; the utilization of museum collections can be carried out through various forms of activities and has a positive impact on students understanding of folklore material; however, the utilization of museum collections faces several constraints, including limited visitation time, transportation costs, and limitations in the collection and collection information. However, these challenges can be addressed by planning more effective schedules, fostering collaboration between the academic program and the museum, involving curators to explain the information within the museum, and digitizing the collection through the development of museum-based learning modules.

Abstract

Public-order enforcement operations conducted by Indonesia’s Civil Service Police Unit-Satpol PP are an important instrument for enforcing Regional Regulations, yet their implementation frequently generates tension between public-order objectives and the protection of citizens’ rights. This study analyzes the legal limits of restrictions on citizens’ rights in Satpol PP enforcement operations through the principle of proportionality and formulates an operational normative review framework. The research adopts a doctrinal legal method using statutory, conceptual, case-based, and limited comparative approaches. The data consist of primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials analyzed through doctrinal analysis and qualitative content analysis by means of a proportionality matrix covering legality, legitimate aim, suitability, necessity, balancing of impacts, and procedural safeguards and accountability. The findings show that the main problem in Satpol PP enforcement lies not merely in the absence of formal authority, but in the escalation of coercive measures without adequate justification and in weak procedural protection. The study’s novelty lies in proposing a stage-based proportionality review framework for Satpol PP enforcement operations that can be used to evaluate official action, strengthen standard operating procedures, and improve accountability in the enforcement of Regional Regulations from the perspectives of administrative law and the constitutional protection of citizens’ rights.

Abstract

The rapid proliferation of social media platforms has fundamentally reshaped the informational and communicative landscape of higher education, raising critical questions about how digital participation intersects with students' academic motivation and learning behavior. While considerable scholarship has examined social media use in educational contexts, comparatively little empirical attention has been directed toward systematically describing the motivational dimensions of this relationship among undergraduate populations. This study addresses that gap by investigating the patterns of social media use and their perceived influence on learning motivation among university students. Employing a descriptive research design, data were collected from 320 undergraduate students across three faculties at a public university in Indonesia using a validated Likert-scale questionnaire supplemented by semi-structured reflective response forms. Descriptive statistics, frequency analysis, and thematic categorization were applied using SPSS 25 and NVivo 12. Findings reveal that the majority of students use social media daily for both academic and non-academic purposes, with YouTube, Instagram, and WhatsApp being the most frequently accessed platforms. A substantial proportion of respondents reported that social media positively influenced their intrinsic motivation, particularly through peer-to-peer knowledge sharing, access to supplementary learning resources, and exposure to academically relevant content. Concurrently, digital distraction and difficulty maintaining self-regulated learning behaviors were identified as significant challenges. These results carry substantive implications for pedagogical design, student digital literacy initiatives, and institutional policy in higher education. The study contributes to the growing empirical base on digital learning motivation and provides a contextually grounded descriptive framework for future inquiry.
