Abstract

Majelis Taklim Muslimah Kaffah in Percut Sei Tuan District is a non-formal educational institution that plays an important role in enhancing religious understanding and spirituality among women. The success of Majelis Taklim activities is closely related to the availability of adequate facilities and infrastructure that support the learning process. This study aims to identify and analyze the supporting facilities and infrastructure of Majelis Taklim Muslimah Kaffah and their impact on the effectiveness of religious activities. This research employed a qualitative approach, with data collected through observation and in-depth interviews with the management and founders of the Majelis Taklim. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that facilities such as meeting spaces, learning media, and internet access, as well as infrastructure including road access, parking areas, and sanitation facilities, play a significant role in enhancing participants’ comfort, participation, and learning quality. However, the study also identified several challenges, including limited funding, inadequate facility maintenance, and limited human resources in managing facilities and infrastructure. Therefore, systematic and sustainable management of facilities and infrastructure is necessary to optimize the activities of Majelis Taklim Muslimah Kaffah.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of Majelis Taklim activities in attracting congregants to continuously participate in da'wah programs amid the rapid advancement of digital technology. The shift in society’s da'wah consumption patterns toward social media presents significant challenges for Majelis Taklim as a non-formal religious institution. This research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach and was conducted in Indonesia. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving Majelis Taklim administrators and congregants. The findings indicate that activity development is implemented through the diversification of da'wah programs, including thematic religious studies, social and charitable activities, congregational empowerment, and the utilization of digital media as a medium of da'wah. Notably, the inclusivity of donors and the absence of financial dependency on a single funding source emerge as distinctive strengths that support the sustainability of these activities. These strategies have proven effective in increasing congregational participation and expanding the reach of da'wah. Through adaptive and responsive activity management aligned with congregational needs, Majelis Taklim remains resilient and relevant in addressing the challenges of da'wah in the digital era.

Abstract

This study examines the da‘wah strategy implemented by the ‘Aisyiyah Majelis Taklim in shaping the character of progressive Muslim women at the Branch Leadership of ‘Aisyiyah Medan Perjuangan. This research is motivated by the need for contextual and transformative da‘wah approaches that respond to contemporary religious, social, and moral challenges faced by Muslim women. The study aims to analyze planning, implementation, and media utilization of da‘wah strategies at the branch level. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method, involving key subjects such as branch administrators, muballighah, and members of the congregation. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, then analyzed thematically to capture patterns of strategy and character formation. The findings show that da‘wah strategies at the branch level are systematically designed based on congregational needs, implemented through dialogical and participatory methods, and strengthened by the use of community-based and digital media. The novelty of this study lies in highlighting how da‘wah strategies at the ‘Aisyiyah branch level function as a grassroots model of progressive da‘wah that effectively contributes to strengthening religious awareness, moral integrity, and social responsibility among Muslim women.

Abstract

This study examines the diplomatic relations between the Ottoman Empire and the Sultanate of Aceh Darussalam in the 16th century CE. Employing historical research methods comprising heuristic (source collection), verification, interpretation, and historiography, this research relies on primary sources comprising archival documents and manuscripts from the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, alongside secondary sources from various historical journals and books. The findings reveal that: (1) diplomatic relations between the two sultanates were formally established during the reign of Sultan Alauddin Riayat Syah Al-Qahhar in Aceh and Sultan Suleiman Al-Kanuni in the Ottoman Empire, marked by the arrival of the Acehnese envoy in Istanbul in 1547 CE; (2) supporting factors for cooperation included Islamic solidarity (ukhuwah islamiyah), shared interests in resisting Portuguese colonial expansion, and common trade routes across the Indian Ocean and the Strait of Malacca; (3) forms of cooperation encompassed military affairs (deployment of troops, cannons, and artillery specialists), trade and economics (pepper and spices), politics (sovereignty recognition and diplomatic representation), as well as religious da'wah (Islamic proselytization). This research affirms that the Ottoman–Aceh Darussalam relationship represents a concrete example of transcontinental Islamic diplomacy grounded in shared doctrinal values and mutual strategic interests in countering European colonial hegemony in the Southeast Asian maritime sphere.
