AbstractCode mixing becomes phenomena of language. the code mixing can be applied among social interaction in bilingual. The aim of this Research is to provide a complete overview over the phenomenon of code mixing. The phenomenon in this research occur in social media. In this research, researcher presents why the strudents mix their language by status in social media. The researcher also match the type according what they in social media, The kind of research is qualitative research. The data are collected from WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook status by screenshoot. The participant were fourth students class B English Education the Study Program Batanghari University Academic year 2018-2019. Students in the class fourth B there are 15 people. Sample from random sampling method. Method of collecting data used in this research are interview to get information arround their knowledge and reasons to use code mixing and documentation which is taken social media by screenshoot the status to be evidence. The result of this research shows that the most type they use is. Research also shows the result of the reasons is talking about particular topic as the highest result. This is showing that students potentially insert their words with foreign language expecially English.Keywords : Code Mixing, Social Media

AbstractThis study aim to find how the teacher’s questioning strategies enhance students’ concentration at X grade SMA PGRI 2 Jambi academic year 2017/2018. The design of this research is experimental design type one group pretest and posttest design, ie only take one experiment class without control class or comparator class. Subjects in this study were students X IPS 3 which amounted to 35 peoples and an English teacher who teaches class X IPS 3 SMA PGRI 2 Jambi. While the object in this study is the concentration of students before and after treatment. To find out the concentration of students, the students' behavior was observed at the pretest and posttest. Then the data that has been collected will be analyzed statistically descriptive, after that interpreted quantitative by comparing the result before given treatment and after given treatment. The data will tested with Mann-Whitney U Test formula to make the conclusion.From this study found that the increased concentration of students after treatment. Before being given treatment, the concentration of students was 35.5% and after being given treatment the concentration of students increased to 62.55%. And the statistic result of Mann-Whitney U Test the hypotesis is accepted.Keywords: Teacher’s Questioning Strategies, Students’ Concentration, English Class

AbstractThe objective of this study was to find out the result of Using Story Telling technique To Improve Reading Ability at The Seventh Grade Students of SMPN 5 Jambi. The population of this research was all the seventh grade students of SMPN 5 Jambi which is grouped into ten classes. The class was taken as the sample was class VIIA consist of 33 students and VIIB consists 33 students by cluster sampling. The design of the research was experimental method. The research used two groups, experimental group and control group. Both of groups takes a pre-test and post-test. The researcher did two treatments for the sample. Abstract The purpose of this research is to find out the strategy used by the students at Seventh grade of SMPN 34 Muaro Jambi Academic Year 2017-2018 in learning vocabulary.This study isa qualitative research using descriptive. This study focused onthe strategy used by the students. The participants of this research are 4 students (2 male and 2 female students) of seventh grade in SMPN 34 Muaro Jambi in acaemic year 2017/2018. The instrument of this research is interview that consist of 11 questions. The result of this research showed that it can be concluded that the strategy used by the students to study vocabulary is asking for teacher’s help, learning new vocabulary in a group and keep saying the new vocabulary. Then, the suggestions are: 1) For students to keep using even to add the strategy to learn the new vocabulary so that it can improve their skill in English vocabulary especially, and 2) For English teacher, it is better if the teacher can increase and add some more strategy in teaching new vocabulary to the students. Reki Anggara; Wennyta; Khidayatul MunawwarohAbstractThis research aims to find out the kind of students errors in writing narrative text in the fourth semester students at English Education Program of Batanghari University year 2017/2018. This research using purposive sampling to get the sample from two class and then got the 4th semester A class with the total 25 students. In collecting the data, the instrument of this research is writing test by using narrative text with theme exeperience during holidays. The findings of this research showed that, the error analysis writing narrative text in language features and generic structure. In language features, the most of errors were past tense with 4,35% percentage of error from 25 students. In generic structure, the most of errors was spelling with 6,74% percentage of errors from 25 students and orientation no errors from 25 students. The researcher concluded that the error analysis on students’ writing narrative text made by fourth semester students A class at english education program of Batanghari University year 2018 is good because from 25 student only two dominant errors in narrative text are past tense and spelling.Keywords: Error Analysis, Writing, and Narrative Text

AbstractThe purpose of this research is to know whether there is effectiveness to use brainstorming technique in writing narrative text at the Eleventh Grade Students of Accounting in SMK N 1 Kota Jambi Academic Year 2017/2018. The method apply in conducting this research is quantitative. The population of the research is 160, by using brainstorming technique is gotten the sample 41 students in experimental class and 41 students without using brainstorming technique in control class. To collect the data in this research is using test for the both experimental and control class. From the comparison between experimental and control class is gotten there is a significant different result from writing narrative text by using brainstorming technique and without using brainstorming technique. From the score is gotten the comparison between t table and t test 4,8 > 0,95, it means Ha (alternative hypothesis) is accepted and Ho ( null hypothesis ) is rejected or that is true the using of brainstorming technique in writing narrative text is more effective than without using brainstorming technique.Keywords: Brainstorming technique, Narrative

Abstract The Teachers’ Strategies In Teaching English Vocabulary At SMPN 6 Kota Jambi Academic Years 2018/2019.This research aims to know about what strategies are used by English teachers in teaching English vocabulary at SMPN 6 Kota Jambi. The purpose of this research is to find out the strategies of English teachers at SMPN 6 Kota Jambi in teaching English vocabulary. The method used in this research is qualitative methods. The setting of this research at SMPN 6 Kota Jambi, because the researcher recognize the teachers there especially English teachers. The subject of the research are all English teachers as a research subject. The data are collected through interview sheet. Based on the data analysis, the researcher find some strategies in teaching English Vocabulary, namely self-defining context, identifying picture, and antonym. The finding of this research from interview result is different teachers’strategies when teaching in the class. The conclusion is some strategies of teaching English vocabulary is very useful for teachers when teaching, because with this strategy teachers can know the limits and characteristics of the students. The suggestion is the English teachers also suggested being more creative, developing and varying their strategies in teaching English vocabulary. Keywords:Teachers’ Strategies,English Vocabulary

AbstractThis research aimed to find outtypes of grammatical errors in writing paragraph based on surface strategy taxonomy made by eleventh grade students of accounting in SMK N 1 Jambi. This research used qualitative method. This research involved 35 students of Accounting IV in SMK N 1 JAMBI academic year 2017/2018 and choosing them by using random sampling technique. The data were collected through test. In this research, the reseacher used classification of errors based on Dulay’s theory. The findings show that students committed error into four types: omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. From the frequency of each error types, misformation was the error which most frequently produced by the students. It took 44,70 % of the total errors. Moreover, 32,94 % errors fell into error of omission and 15,29 % errors fell into misordering; whereas, for addition, it only took 7,05 %.Keywords: Grammatical Error, Writing, Paragraph

AbstractThe purpose of this research is to find out students' vocabulary mastery by using the media short English movie. The experimental study involved eleventh high school students in SMA N 8 Kota Jambi. From 84 students who have two classes were selected as the study sample. The first class is class IPS 1 as experimental class and the second class is class IPS 4 as control class. After 2 sessions (within 2 weeks) post test is given. The researcher got the data from pre-test and post-test. In collecting data the instrument of this research is test. Based on the calculation of the statistical analysis, it is found that the value of t-test was 2.08 is higher than the value of t-table 1,67 it means Ha is accepted. Results of the data analysis have revealed that the teaching of English vocabulary by using media short English movie can improve students' vocabulary mastery.Keywords: Students’ vocabulary, short English movie.

AbstractThis research is aimed to find out how is generic structure on recount text written by tenth grade students of SMA 8 Jambi 2017/2018. The kind of research is qualitative research. The data collected from class X.1 as 32 students. Method of collecting data used in this research is test. Researcher found that students most of the students wrote good recount text based on generic structure and some of them still have to increase their knowledge about generic structure on recount text. The class average of students’ test result of the test is 20,12. The highest and the lowest scoreof generic structure of 26 and 8 from 32 students. The average of students’ test result of each generic structure consist on orientation is 7,71, events 5,87, and re-orientation 6,53. The highest percentage of students’ knowledge is orientation 38,35% and the lowest percentage of students’ knowledge is events 29,19%. It can be conclude that students more understand about orientation than events and re-orientation.Keywords: Analysis, Generic Structure, RecountText.
