Abstract

"The Decline of Muslim Numbers and the Waning Interest in Religious Studies: A Paradox for State Islamic Universities (Universitas Islam Negeri — UIN), Including One Named Walisongo (Referring to Nine Medieval Saints Who Spread Islam in Java). The Islamic Propagation Efforts of Walisongo, Aimed at Islamizing the Javanese Region, Producing 'Ulama Cadres, and Establishing an Islamic Society, Have Seen a Decrease. This Study Aims to Analyze the Reasons for Students' Low Interest in Religious Faculties at UINs and Connect Them to the Spirit of Walisongo's Endeavors. The Study Utilizes a Literature Research Method with a Qualitative Approach, without Quantitative Data Calculation. The Study Concludes that the Existence of Religious Faculties at UINs Is in Line with Walisongo's Objective of Spreading Islam through Educational Institutions. The Religious Faculties, Seen as a Continuation of Walisongo's Struggle in Propagating Islam, Comprise Four Faculties: Adab, Ushuluddin, Syarī'ah, and Da'wah. In the Case of UIN Jakarta, There is a Faculty of Dirāsāt Islamiyyah, Collaborating with Al-Azhar University in Cairo. While Religious Faculties Experienced a Golden Age during the IAIN (Institute of Islamic Studies) Period, They Have Been Diminishing in the UIN Period. The Decline is Evident in the Decreasing Number of Students, Especially in Comparison to the Enrollment Numbers of Secular Faculties at UINs."

Abstract

The Duties of Quranic Education The decline in the number of Muslims and the lack of interest in religious studies were ironic for State Islamic Universities (UIN) which one of its universities bears the name Walisongo (i.e., nine medieval saints who spread Islam in Java). The Islamic propagation of Walisongo evidently aimed at Islamizing the Javanese island, producing religious scholars, and establishing an Islamic society. The religious faculties at UINs, which are the continuation of Walisongo's efforts in propagating Islamic teachings, have recently diminished. The purpose of this research was to analyze the causes of students' low interest in the religious faculties at UINs and relate them to the spirit of Walisongo's undertakings. This study was a literature review using a qualitative approach that did not involve quantitative data calculation. The study concluded that the existence of religious faculties at UINs aligns with Walisongo's goal of spreading Islam through educational institutions. The religious faculties, which can be regarded as a continuation of Walisongo's struggle in propagating Islam, consist of four faculties: Adab (Humanities), Ushuluddin (Islamic Theology), Syari'ah (Islamic Law), and Da'wah (Islamic Propagation). In a special case at UIN Jakarta, there is the Faculty of Islamic Studies in cooperation with Al-Azhar University in Cairo. The faculties of religiosity had their golden age during the IAIN period but have been declining throughout the UIN period. The decline was assessed by the indicator of the decreasing number of students, particularly compared to the number of students enrolled in secular faculties at UINs.

Abstract

Fuqaha have differences of opinion in determining the legal ruling of marriage for a pregnant woman outside of wedlock. Firstly, the Hanafi school permits the marriage of a woman who has committed adultery. If the woman is pregnant, then sexual relations are not allowed until the child is born. Secondly, the Malik school prohibits marrying a woman who has committed adultery, whether she is pregnant or not. Thirdly, the Shafi'i school allows the marriage of a woman who has committed adultery, whether she is pregnant or not, and it is permissible for the man who impregnated her or another man to marry her. It is also permissible to marry the mother and daughter of a woman with whom one has committed adultery. Fourthly, the Hanbali school holds the opinion that marrying a woman who has committed adultery is not permissible, except under two conditions: the completion of her waiting period (iddah) and sincere repentance.

Abstract

Motivation is viewed as the driving force that is employed to strengthen individuals for improving their performance so as to achieve well-established organizational goals. It is necessary to note that this driving force results from both intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Motivation theories, which were derived from Western countries, have been examined its implementation in business, industry, and education organizations there. Nonetheless, Robbins asserts that the motivation theories are not strictly implemented in the other half of the world. For instance, an educational institution such as pesantren (Islamic boarding school), whose organizational culture is much different from a formal one, has flexibly applied those theories of motivation. It can be noticed that the implementation of Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy Theory and McClelland’s Needs Theory extremely depends on intellectual capital and organizational culture aspects of the pesantren.

Abstract

The socio-historical reading of the hadith does not seem to have been adequately studied, so the study of hadiths to find the authenticity of the text and its precise meaning is still to be considered, this consideration is due to the very rapid development of contemporary society, to the extent of requiring a review of the process a meaning maqasid hadith, it is certainly to emphasize the view of hadith as the foundation of Islamic law which put forward various aspects, hermeneutics of hadith as a science that reflects the text of hadith in recording the history of the past, then understood existentially in the present situation need to be moved, in order to achieve interpretation which is close to the truth. This is because the hadiths have been formed in the time of the Prophet, while the post-life of the Prophet has continued to develop, so that life is now required to adapt to that source, as the textual understanding of talak will lead to an understanding that tends to position women as parties who get a very disadvantaged position, again under any circumstances if a husband has said the word "talak", then a divorce is a necessity, whether a husband is conscious or unconscious. So this concept is very discriminative, contextual re-understanding of the traditions that explain about the talak sirri need to be peeled back, in order to know how the context and terms of legal and formal registration of divorce to be understood in the current era.
