Abstract

Background: Changes during pregnancy include changes in posture and lengthening of the abdominal and pelvic muscles, which can affect the musculoskeletal system. As many as 70% of pregnant women in the third-trimester experience lower back pain caused by increasing gestational age changes in the anatomy and physiology of pregnant women, which can cause Activity Daily Living (ADL) or the daily activities of pregnant women to be disrupted. Stability Ball Exercise (SBE) is an exercise that can reduce the intensity of back pain in pregnant women and can increase daily functional activities. Objective: to determine the effect of providing stability ball workouts on Daily Living Activities in pregnant women with complaints of lower back pain in the Kartasura Health Center work area. Method: quasi-experimental with one group pre-test and post-test design. The sample in this study consisted of 23 pregnant women based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The analysis test used a paired sample t-test to determine the effect of the stability of ball training on daily activities in pregnant women. Dosing three times a week for four weeks. The instrument in this study used a disability rating index measurement questionnaire with 12 question items divided into three parts. The first item contains basic activities of daily living, the second item contains daily physical activities, and the third item contains activities related to heavier work. Results: A significant relationship exists between the pre- and post-DRI results with a p-value <0.001. Conclusion: There is an effect of stability ball workouts on increasing daily living activities in pregnant women with complaints of lower back pain. Abstract

Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) is a congenital heart disease or abnormality caused by a hole in the right and left atrial partition so that the blood mixes. Most ASDs do not show signs and symptoms, but patients generally experience symptoms related to decreased functional capacity, including shortness of breath during activity. ASD valve closure surgery is a safe maintenance procedure and has an impact on low mortality rates. The phase II physiotherapy program in this case aims to determine the effect of aerobic exercise, treadmill and ergocycle interventions on increasing functional capacity. This study is a case report on subjects with post surgical Arterial Septal Defect closure conditions with a phase II rehabilitation program in the form of aerobic exercise, treadmill and ergocycle for 5 therapy sessions. Next, vital signs were measured, blood pressure, heart rate (HR), SpO2 quality, Borg Scale shortness of breath measurements at each therapy session and functional capacity (6MWT). The results showed stable blood pressure and HR, decreased shortness of breath, and increased functional capacity or METs results. Abstract

ABSTRACT Background : Down syndrome cases in Indonesia will increase between 2010 and 2018. Down syndrome cases in Indonesia tend to increase.  In people with Down syndrome, chromosome number 21 does not split into two, but has three, or trisomy.  As a result, the baby has 47 chromosomes instead of the usual 46.  This causes abnormalities in the physical and mental development of children. This imperfect chromosome formation causes disturbances in cognitive function and quality of life during the child's growth phase. Methods : This study uses a correlational quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach. With a sample of 83 children with Down Syndrome and with an error rate of 5%. This research was conducted offline using the cognitive scale for down syndrome (cs-ds) measurement tool and The TNO-AZL Questionnaire for Children's Health-Related Quality of Life (TacQol). Results : The results obtained in this study were that there was a significant relationship between cognitive function and quality of life in children with Down syndrome with a value of P = 0.000 for both variables and a correlation coefficient of r = 1.000 for cognitive function and r = 0.463 for quality of life. Because the value of r is positive for both variables, the relationship between the two variables is unidirectional. Conclusion : This study found that there is a relationship between cognitive function and quality of life in children with Down syndrome at YPLB Nusantara Depok.   Keywords: Down Syndrome; Quality of Life; CS-DS; TacQol; Physiotherapy

Abstract

Humans will inevitably experience stages of the aging process which will result in functional and anatomical changes in organs such as a decrease in the musculoskeletal system which if there is a decrease in the system will affect changes in posture, one of which is forward head posture. This posture condition will cause difficulty in controlling balance. This study aims to determine the relationship between forward head posture and static balance in the elderly in Untia Village, Makassar City. This research is included in the type of quantitative research using a cross-sectional approach. Respondents of this study were elderly people aged over 60 years as many as 67 elderly people who met the exclusion and inclusion criteria. The normality test used is Kolmogorov Smirnov which shows the significance value (p) of Kolmogorov Smirnov of 0.000 which means that the data is not normally distributed (p <0.05). Furthermore, a non-parametric correlation test was carried out, namely Spearman's rho correlation and obtained variable results of 0.001 (p <0.05) which means that the two variables have a significant (real) relationship, namely between forward head posture and static balance with data obtained by researchers showing 46 of 67 respondents had FHP conditions and 38 of 67 elderly people experienced low stability. The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between forward head posture and static balance in the elderly in Untia Village, Makassar City. Abstract

Down Syndrome is a genetic disorder that occurs due to an extra chromosome 21. This condition causes various developmental problems, such as motor delays, muscle hypotonia, and cognitive and social limitations. Based on data from the World Health Organization (WHO), the prevalence of Down Syndrome in the world reaches around 1 case per 1,100 births. Physiotherapy management is an important part of helping children with Down Syndrome to develop motor skills, improve postural function, and improve quality of life. The patient aged 3 years and 5 months with Down Syndrome had delayed motor development, including not being able to walk independently, although he could sit stably and roll over. Clinical examination revealed muscle hypotonia, unstable posture, and limited joint range of motion. The patient had joint hypermobility characterized by asymmetrical posture and postural muscle weakness. The patient's diagnosis is Down Syndrome (Trisomy 21). Physiotherapy interventions provided include Neurodevelopment Treatment (NDT) to improve postural control and body stability, play therapy for fine and gross motor stimulation, sensory treatment to stimulate the sensory motor system, and positioning exercises to improve posture and joint stability. After three therapy sessions, there were significant improvements in the patient's ability to stand more stably, reduction of muscle hypotonia, and improved gross motor control. The success of physiotherapy intervention in patients with Down Syndrome depends on the consistency of ongoing therapy and the active role of parents in performing exercises at home. This shows the importance of collaboration between the physiotherapist and the patient's family to support the child's optimal development. Abstract

Stroke can occur at any age. Stroke is the second leading cause of death and the third leading cause of disability in the world. Stroke is caused by several factors, namely intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Stroke can cause muscle weakness, balance disorders, shoulder subluxation, limited ROM, spasticity or flaccidity and others. In this study, the problems found in clinical cases in the field were muscle weakness, spasticity, shoulder subluxation, limited ADL, balance and coordination disorders. Handling of the problems found in the field is with the principle of active muscle strengthening movements assisted by NMES modalities, the Bobath Concept to reduce spasticity, PNF Patterns with resistance techniques to improve coordination and muscle strength, Core Exercise to improve trunk control so as to improve balance, and the use of Kinesio Tapping to reduce shoulder subluxation. Based on the results of the intervention for 2x/week in 1 week, it showed good results in reducing shoulder subluxation and improving balance in stroke patients. Interestingly, patients expressed that they felt an increase in balance when using kinesio tapping compared to not using kinesio tapping. Keywords:  Core exercise; Kinesio Tapping, Stroke

Abstract

Background: A fall is defined as an accidental loss of balance that causes a person unprepared. The risk of falling in the elderly is related to a decrease in balance, namely the elderly cannot control balance in their posture during dynamic or static positions and gait disorders. Poor balance control is affected by several physiological factors that interfere with independence and contribute to the risk of falls and injuries. Dual task training is an exercise where the subject is given instructions to do 2 tasks at the same time. Interventions that combine motor and cognitive tasks are carried out simultaneously which allows for increased recognition of the disorder that occurs and accelerates the process of restoring body functions. Objective: To determine the effect  of dual task training on reducing the risk of falls in the elderly. Methods: This type of research is a quantitative research, quasi-experimental Quasy Experimental Pre-Post Test With Control Group Design with a total of 26 subjects. The research instrument used questionnaires, interviews, and measurement of falling risk with TUGT. The dual task training  intervention in the elderly was carried out 3 times a week in 4 weeks.  Results: The results of this study showed that there was a significant effect of dual task training on reducing the risk of falling in the elderly with a significance value of p = 0.008 (p<0.05). Conclusion: There was an effect on the subjects after being given an intervention in the form of dual task training. Keywords:  Fall Risk; Dual Task Training; Time Up and Go Test
