Abstract

Background: Changes in stride length are something that is closely related to unhealthy conditions and is a decrease in the ability to carry out activities independently. Nearly 50% of people over the age of 65 have problems walking. Method: This is a cross sectional study, the sample consisted of 34 people at Posyandu for the Elderly Melati Putih RW 02 East Jakarta. The sample was measured for stride length using a meterline with units measured in cm and dynamic balance was measured using the TUG test with units of time measured in seconds using a stopwatch. Results: The mean ± SD value for the step length variable was 79.14 ± 12.63, the mean value for the walking pain variable was 4.97 ± 1.62 and the mean value for the dynamic balance variable was 21.18 ± 6.63. Testing normality using the Shapiro Wilk Test, the data obtained a normal distribution of 2 and abnormally 1, while with hypothesis testing using Spearman Rank Correlation, the p value was <0.05 and had a value of r -0.738 for step length on dynamic balance and r 0.617 for walking pain on balance. dynamic, thus showing that Ha is accepted, meaning there is a relationship between step length, walking pain and dynamic balance in the elderly. Conclusion: There is a relationship between stride length, walking pain and dynamic balance in the elderly. Keywords: Stride Length; Dynamic Balance; Pain; Fall Risk

Abstract

Background: Plantar fasciitis is the one of musculoskeletal disorders that causes heel pain due to repetitive stress, leading to inflammation of the plantar fascia. Effective rehabilitation is essential for recovery from this condition. Gait analysis in plantar fasciitis cases is an intriguing aspect to be studied using biomechanical principles. Additionally, it serves as the basis for providing strengthening exercises for the lower limbs, which play a crucial role in supporting the recovery process of plantar fasciitis. Objective: This article aims to review how biomechanical gait analysis and strengthening exercises contribute to the recovery of plantar fasciitis and to identify rehabilitation mechanisms based on the latest scientific evidence. Methods: This narrative review analyzes literature from the past 10 years related to biomechanical gait analysis and strengthening exercises using the PICO framework (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome). Literature searches were conducted using PubMed, Science Direct, Scopus, and PEDro. Results: From the search across four databases, several relevant journals were identified that indicated a relationship between biomechanical gait analysis and strengthening exercises for the recovery of plantar fasciitis. Conclusion: Biomechanical gait analysis and strengthening exercises can optimize the recovery of plantar fasciitis. Abstract

Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause due to inflammation or degeneration of the plantar fascia. This condition can affect work productivity and disrupt functional abilities. One of the physiotherapy programs to improve functional activity in plantar fasciitis is by providing neurokinetic exercise. The purpose of this study is to present evidence related to the effectiveness of neurokinetic exercise in improving functional activity in plantar fasciitis. The method used in this study is a narrative review using the PICO framework (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome). Journal searches were conducted using PubMed, Science Direct, Scopus, and PEDro. The search results from the 4 databases were based on keywords that had been adjusted. Article selection was done using the PRISMA flowchart, followed by the article assessment stage using critical appraisal and compiling narrative review results. Based on the article search results with reference criteria of the last 5 years, 26 articles were obtained. After screening based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, 10 journals were found to be relevant to the topic, mentioning that neurokinetic exercise can improve functional activity in plantar fasciitis. It is concluded that neurokinetic exercise is effective in improving functional activity in plantar fasciitis. Keywords: Neurokinetic exercise; Functional activity; Plantar fasciitis

Abstract

Background: Balance in the elderly declines with age, increasing the risk of falls. Exercises such as single leg stance and ankle strategy exercise can help, but their effectiveness needs further investigation. Comparing the effects of latihan berdiri satu kaki and latihan strategi ankle on balance improvement in the elderly. Methods: This quasi-experimental study used a pretest-posttest group design involving 20 elderly participants from Panti Werdha Wisma Mulia, divided into two groups (10 participants each). The first group performed single leg stance, while the second group performed ankle strategy exercise. Balance was measured using the Functional Reach Test (FRT). Results: Single leg stance significantly improved balance (p ≤ 0.001), with a mean ± SD increase from 10.20 ± 2.394 to 12.80 ± 3.120. Ankle strategy exercise was more effective (p ≤ 0.001), increasing balance from 12.00 ± 3.590 to 19.20 ± 4.517. Independent T-test showed a significant difference (p = 0.001), with ankle strategy exercise having a greater effect. Conclusion: Ankle strategy exercise is more effective than single leg stance in improving balance in the elderly and can serve as a better intervention to reduce the risk of falls. Abstract

Latar Belakang: Dismenore adalah kondisi umum dialami oleh remaja perempuan yang ditandai rasa nyeri perut bagian bawah ketika menstruasi. Nyeri ini mengakibatkan rasa tidak nyaman seperti nyeri punggung, nyeri perut bagian bawah, serta perubahan emosi sehingga akan mengganggu aktivitas sehari-hari serta dapat mempengaruhi kualitas hidup. Terapi non-farmakologi khususnya terapi manipulatif salah satunya adalah effleurage massage, di mana teknik ini dapat digunakan sebagai intervensi dalam mengurangi intensitas nyeri menstruasi. Salah satu manfaat dari effleurage massage yaitu mengurangi ketegangan pada otot sehingga dapat mengurangi intensitas nyeri menstruasi. Metode: Studi ini menggunakan literature review yang menggunakan metode PICOS framework untuk mencari artikel dari 2 database yaitu Google Scholar dan PubMed. Didapatkan 12 artikel penelitian yang memenuhi kriteria dalam rentang waktu 2020-2024. Hasil: Berdasarkan analisis studi literatur didapatkan hasil bahwa rata-rata intensitas nyeri sebelum diberikan massage effleurage adalah sedang dan setelah diberikan intervensi skala nyeri adalah ringan, dengan hasil uji statistik p-value < 0.05. Kesimpulan: Effleurage massage terbukti efektif dalam menurunkan skala nyeri dismenore pada remaja putri.

Abstract

Background: Elementary school children aged 10-12 years experience a decrease in endurance such as lack of sports activity. At this age physiological changes occur (the body's metabolic system begins to adjust to greater energy needs). Decreased endurance can affect health, cognitive and concentration while learning. To increase endurance, the intervention given is Rhythmic Auditory Stimulation (RAS) and High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). Objective: To determine the effect and difference of rhythmic auditory stimulation (RAS) and high intensity interval training (HIIT) on increasing endurance in elementary school students. Methods: This study used quasi experimental method with pre and post two group design. A total of 30 samples were determined using purposive sampling technique. The sample was divided into 2 groups of 15 respondents each with the intervention of Rhythmic Auditory Stimulation (RAS) and High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). Exercise is carried out for 4 weeks with a frequency of training 3 times a week. The measuring instrument used was the Harvard Step Test. Normality test using Saphiro-wilk test. Homogeneity test using lavene test, hypothesis test I and II using paired sample t-test, and hypothesis test III using Independent sample t-test. Results: The results of hypothesis tests I and II using paired sample t-test obtained p = 0.000 (p <0.05). While the third hypothesis test using independent sample t-test obtained a value of p = 0.000 (p <0.05). Conclusion: There is an effect and difference in rhythmic auditory stimulation (RAS) and high intensity interval training (HIIT) on increasing endurance in elementary school students. Abstract

Background : Children at an early age are children who are in the golden age period, this period is very important for children considering that brain development reaches 80% with the growth of around 100-200 billion brain cells. So that in this golden age the potential that exists in children must be developed well. Introducing and using gadgets to children from an early age will definitely have an impact on the child's growth and development. This research has never been conducted in Wonomulyo, making researchers want to carry out further studies, especially in children aged 3 years -5 years. Objective. The general aim of this research is to determine the relationship between the duration of gadget use on gross motor skills and language development in children aged 3-5 years at Posyandu Wonomulyo. Methods : This research is a correlative descriptive study which aims to determine the relationship between the duration of gadget use on gross motor skills and language development in children aged 3-5 years at Posyandu, Wonomulyo District, Polewali Mandar Regency. The sample consisted of 51 children who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The duration of gadget use was measured using parent interviews, while gross motor skills and language development were measured using the Denver II test Results : Hypothesis testing was carried out using the Spearman Rank, a sig value of 0.004 (sig 0.05) was obtained, so it was concluded that there was a relationship between the duration of gadget use and gross motor skills, and a sig value of 0.001 (sig 0.05) was obtained. So a Conclusion : is obtained. that there is a relationship between the duration of gadget use and language development. There is a significant relationship between the duration of gadget use on gross motor skills and language development in children aged 3-5 years at Posyandu Wonomulyo

Abstract

Background: Myogenic Low Back Pain (LBP) is a musculoskeletal problem that often occurs especially in the elderly, caused by muscle and soft tissue disorders in the lower lumbar region. Core Stability Exercise (CSE) is an exercise method that aims to strengthen core muscles, improve body stability, and reduce mechanical loads on the spine. Aims to determine the effect of CSE on reducing pain and functional improvement in myogenic LBP, especially in elderly Methods: This study applied a quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest design approach. Using purposive sampling technique, involving 20 elderly with myogenic low back pain (LBP). Divided into two groups: an intervention group that underwent Core Stability Exercise for 4 weeks with a frequency of 3x/week, and a control group that only received education at the end of the study. Pain intensity was measured using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS), while functional ability was assessed using the Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ). Data analysis was performed using Wilcoxon test and Mann-Whitney U Test, with a significance level of p<0.05. Results: The study showed that in the intervention group, there was a significant decrease in pain with a value of p=0.014 for silent pain, p=0.003 for pressure pain, and p=0.002 for motion pain. Functional ability also increased significantly with a value of p=0.004. Meanwhile, in the control group, there were no significant changes in either pain level (p>0.05) or functional ability (p=0.102>0.05). Conclusion: Core Stability Exercise is proven to play a role in reducing pain and improving physical function in the elderly who experience myogenic Low Back Pain (LBP). Abstract

Background : Fencing is a combat sport that requires upper limb strength, speed, and coordination, especially during attack techniques. Muscle activity of the infraspinatus, anterior deltoid, and triceps brachii plays a crucial role in producing quick, accurate, and stable movements during offensive actions. Methods : This study used an observational design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 36 fencing athletes were divided into three age categories: cadet (13–17 years), junior (17–20 years), and senior (>20 years). Muscle activity was measured using electromyography (EMG) on the selected muscles. Data analysis was performed using One Way ANOVA. Results : The results showed significant differences (p < 0.05) in the activity of the three muscles across age groups. The senior group demonstrated the highest muscle activity, followed by junior and cadet groups. Conclusion : There is a significant difference in upper limb muscle activity during fencing attack techniques based on age category. Specific training programs tailored to the athlete's muscle development stage are needed to improve performance and prevent injuries.

Abstract

Background: The cardiorespiratory fitness level in conventional smokers can decrease significantly and affect the cardiorespiratory organ system. Therefore, special training is needed to help improve the cardiorespiratory fitness of conventional smokers. This study aims to determine the effect of diaphragm breathing exercise and circuit training exercise on the cardiorespiratory fitness of conventional smokers. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental research design with one-group pretest-posttest design on a population of conventional smokers involving a total sampling of 20 respondents aged 20-26 years. The measuring instrument used was the 6 minutes-walking test (6MWT). Respondents were given diaphragm breathing exercise and circuit training exercise twice a week for a period of 6 weeks. Data analysis was performed using the paired sample t-test. Results: The average data results of the distance traveled before exercise were 436.30 ± 45.045 and the distance traveled after exercise was 606.15 ± 99.909. Then the Sig. value was obtained. 0.000 (p <0.005), these results indicate that there is an effect of diaphragm breathing exercise and circuit training exercise on cardiorespiratory fitness of conventional smokers. Conclusion: Diaphragm breathing exercise and circuit training exercise have an effect on increasing cardiorespiratory fitness in conventional smokers.
