Abstract

Malnutrition remains a critical public health challenge in India, particularly among children under six years of age, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. To combat this issue, the Government of India launched Poshan Abhiyan, a comprehensive nutrition program aimed at eradicating malnutrition through multi-sectoral interventions, behavioral change communication, and improved service delivery. This study evaluates the implementation, challenges, and effectiveness of Poshan Abhiyan in Housing Colony Ompora, Budgam, Jammu & Kashmir, with a special focus on community participation and interdepartmental coordination. A mixed-method approach was used, incorporating primary data from surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions with Anganwadi worker, local beneficiaries, and health officials, alongside secondary data from official reports and government records. The findings indicate that while 62% of respondents were aware of Poshan Abhiyan, only 15% regularly accessed Anganwadi services, highlighting gaps in engagement. Additionally, 5% of children exhibited some degree of malnutrition, emphasizing the need for improved nutritional interventions and monitoring. The study also identifies challenges such as limited community awareness, inadequate interdepartmental coordination, and logistical issues in nutritional supplement distribution. To enhance program effectiveness, recommendations include strengthening awareness campaigns, fostering local participation, ensuring timely service delivery, and improving digital monitoring tools. This research underscores the importance of a collaborative approach involving local communities, government departments, and health workers to ensure the successful implementation of Poshan Abhiyan. Strengthening these efforts will play a pivotal role in achieving the long-term goal of a malnutrition-free India.

Abstract

A healthy diet plays an important role in supporting students’ cognitive performance and concentration in learning. This article discusses the effects of proper nutrition, such as omega-3 fatty acids, iron, B-complex vitamins, and antioxidants, on brain function, memory, and focus. These nutrients help maintain energy stability, improve focus, and reduce mental fatigue and stress that often interfere with learning. Conversely, a diet rich in sugar, processed foods, and saturated fats can have a negative impact on concentration and academic performance. Students who consume nutritious foods show improved academic performance and better mental health. Therefore, maintaining a healthy diet is essential to supporting cognitive function and achieving optimal academic performance.

Abstract

Introduction: Pulmonary metastases arising from extremity fibrosarcoma are among the most common sites of distant metastasis. The median survival after the occurrence of metastasis is approximately one year. Patients treated with nonoperative therapy have a median survival of 11 months. Case Illustrations: A 70-year-old female, never smoker, admitted to the hospital with a chief complaint of shortness of breath. The patient had a history of fibrosarcoma on the left foot followed by surgery a year ago. Chest X-ray showed central lung mass with massive right pleural effusion. Post-contrast chest imaging revealed a heterogeneous, enhancing, lobulated mass in both lungs. TTNA and core biopsy were performed under USG guidance on the lung mass. The cytologic findings revealed a metastatic neoplasm-suggestive sarcoma. The concomitant core biopsy showed a histologic pattern of spindle cells arranged in short intersecting fascicles suggestive of metastases of fibrosarcoma. The patient showed rapid deterioration resulting in death on the 20th day of hospitalization. Discussion: The incidence of fibrosarcoma in the lower limb accounts for 40% of all cases of soft tissue tumors. Patient with extremity sarcomas are more likely to have distant metastases as their initial site of recurrence. From the histologic pattern, those patients with spindle cell sarcoma were the most likely to have pulmonary metastases. Data on pulmonary metastases arising from extremity fibrosarcoma is poorly available making it difficult to treat metastatic sarcoma. Conclusion: Pulmonary metastases from fibrosarcoma are a challenging issue, with a median survival of less than one year post-metastasis. Pulmonary metastasectomy can extend survival to 33 months, but a multidisciplinary approach, including tailored chemotherapy and radiotherapy, is crucial due to the diverse tumor behaviors. This case highlights the rapid progression and poor prognosis of metastatic fibrosarcoma, underscoring the need for comprehensive treatment strategies.

Abstract

The prohibition of eating and drinking stands in Islam not only related to adab, but also holds profound wisdom that includes aspects of health, simplicity, and spirituality. This article discusses the wisdom contained in the recommendation to eat and drink while sitting based on the views of Islam. One of the main lessons is the importance of maintaining manners in every action as a reflection of the faith of a Muslim. In addition, the habit of eating and drinking calmly while sitting trains modesty, discipline, and increases gratitude to Allah SWT. In terms of health, this habit helps maintain a better digestive process. Thus, following the sunnah of the Prophet PBUH in terms of eating and drinking not only provides spiritual benefits, but also physical benefits. This study confirms that the standing ban on eating and drinking in Islam has a holistic positive impact, covering the physical and spiritual well-being of Muslims.

Abstract

Zeolites could be the potential solution of some major problems in agriculture including pollution due to excessive use of fertilizers and economic drain due to the same. Ion exchange of zeolites can be used to load agents as well as release them and the high ion exchange capacity improves the loadings of agents. Because of these properties, zeolites have been used for controlled release of fertilizer components. Zeolites added to fertilizers help to retain nutrients and therefore improving the long term soil quality by enhancing its absorption ability. The surfactant modified zeolites (SMZ) could be used as carriers in controlled release formulations of fertilizer with higher affinity for anions to decrease its contamination potential.

Abstract

Hemianopsia is a visual impairment characterized by the loss of half of the visual field in one or both eyes. This condition can be temporary or permanent. Monocular temporal hemianopia is one of them, namely visual field abnormalities in one eye in the temporal part, this abnormality is located in the occipital and temporal cortex. Disorders in this area can be caused by ischemic conditions. This case is rarely reported. This article presents a case study of a 56-year-old male patient with a history of chronic hypertension who came to the emergency unit with sudden loss of visual field on the right side of the eye, the patient had a history of ischemic stroke 1 year ago and did not leave any residual symptoms. Initial examination showed blood pressure of 190/110 mmHg accompanied by severe headache. CT scan showed recurrent ischemia in the left occipital and temporal lobes. The main focus of initial treatment is to restore cerebral blood flow through the administration of neuroprotective agents and antiplatelet therapy, which aims to optimize cerebral perfusion.
