Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the application of positive psychology on the development of human resource (HR) performance at PT Mandiri Abadi Permai Medan City. This study uses a quantitative approach with explanatory methods and simple linear regression analysis techniques. A sample of 92 respondents was selected through simple random sampling from a total population of 120 employees. The research instrument was in the form of a closed questionnaire with a Likert scale and tested for validity and reliability. The results of the study show that there is a positive and significant influence between positive psychology and human resource performance. A significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.398 showed that 39.8% of variations in HR performance could be explained by the application of positive psychology, while the rest were influenced by other factors. These findings are reinforced by Seligman's positive psychology theory and Luthans' concept of Psychological Capital, which emphasizes the importance of optimism, hope, and resilience in supporting work productivity. Thus, companies need to integrate positive psychology approaches in HR development strategies to create a healthy, adaptive, and productive work environment.

Abstract

Introduction:Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death globally, with sudden cardiac arrest requiring immediate action during the critical period to prevent irreversible damage. Nursing students must be highly trained in Basic Life Support (BLS), particularly in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), to effectively manage emergency situations. Method: This study employed a systematic literature review using the PICOT framework to analyze five peer-reviewed articles published between 2021 and 2025. The articles, sourced from Google Scholar and PubMed, examined the impact of BLS training on nursing students through quasi-experimental pre–posttest designs. Result:The results consistently showed significant improvements in students' knowledge, technical skills, and readiness following BLS training. Simulation-based teaching, led by certified instructors, effectively enhances both cognitive and psychomotor skills. Discussion: The observed low baseline competency prior to training underscores the necessity of integrating BLS into nursing curriculum. Ongoing simulation-based instruction is crucial for promoting clinical preparedness and building confidence among nursing students. Conclusion: BLS training substantially improves nursing students' ability to perform CPR. It is strongly recommended that nursing education institutions adopt regular and structured BLS training programs to ensure the preparedness of future healthcare professionals.

Abstract

This study developed gluten-free, low-sugar snack bars by valorizing underutilized black rice flour (BR) and rice bran flour (RB) to address health concerns in conventional formulations. Employing a factorial completely randomized design (BR: 10-30%, RB: 10-20%), we evaluated six formulations through proximate analysis, reducing sugar assays, and organoleptic testing (n=75 untrained panelists). The 10% BR + 10% RB formulation emerged as optimal, demonstrating superior sensory acceptance across all parameters (overall hedonic score: 5.53±1.09) and favorable nutritional profile: 5.72% moisture, 25.54% fat, 9.61% protein, and 57.3% carbohydrates. Contrastingly, 20% BR + 10% RB showed the highest reducing sugar content (8.00±0.33 g/mL) but suboptimal sensory appeal. Nutritional variability was formulation-dependent: increased BR substitution elevated moisture (p<0.05) and ash content (p<0.01) due to amylose-mediated water absorption and mineral enrichment, while higher RB proportions reduced carbohydrate content (p<0.01) through nutrient displacement. Although the optimal formulation achieves sensory-nutritional balance, compositional refinement remains necessary for full compliance with Indonesian National Standards (SNI). This research establishes a sustainable framework for transforming agricultural byproducts into functional foods..

Abstract

Wasting is a condition of thinness characterized by a weight-for-height index (W/H) with a Z-Score limit of <-2 SD. The problem in this study is the high incidence of wasting in 2022, which was 139 people (6.9%), and in 2023, it was 91 people (5.7%). These numbers are considered high because, according to WHO targets, the wasting rate should be <5%. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between maternal knowledge, exclusive breastfeeding, and infectious diseases with the incidence of wasting in toddlers at UPTD Puskesmas Johan Pahlawan, West Aceh Regency. With a cross-sectional approach and a correlational design, this study employed a quantitative research methodology that examines the relationship between variables at the same time (point time approach). Seventy toddlers with wasting made up the study's population, and the total sampling approach was applied. The Chi-Square test was employed in both univariate and bivariate analysis. The findings demonstrated a strong correlation between the occurrence of toddler wasting and maternal knowledge (p=0.042), exclusive breastfeeding (p=0.028), and infectious illnesses (p=0.000). In conclusion, the value (p < α 0.05) indicates a correlation between the occurrence of wasting in toddlers, infectious illnesses, exclusive breastfeeding, and maternal knowledge. It is recommended that healthcare workers, especially at the health center, increase education for mothers of toddlers on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and prevention of infectious diseases (diarrhea and ARI), and that mothers of toddlers can be more active in seeking information and participating in health counseling activities organized by posyandu/health centers to understand the importance of exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

The activeness of visits to the posyandu is crucial for monitoring children's health and nutrition by regularly weighing toddlers' weight with the Kartu Menuju Sehat (KMS, or Healthy Growth Card). This study aims to determine the factors related to mothers' visits with their toddlers to Posyandu Permata Hati in Drien Rampak Village, West Aceh Regency, in 2024. The quantitative study uses an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consists of all mothers with toddlers aged 0-59 months, with a total sampling method of 87 mothers. The instrument used a questionnaire covering all variables, including maternal knowledge, education, occupation, family support, and visits to the posyandu. The analysis uses the Chi-Square test. The results show no relationship between maternal knowledge (p=1.000) and education (p=1.000), but there is a relationship between maternal occupation (p=0.004) and family support (p=0.000) with visits to the posyandu. The suggestion for the posyandu is to hold regular educational activities to increase mothers' awareness of the importance of visiting the posyandu. For working mothers or those with various other activities, it's essential to schedule time to bring their toddlers to the posyandu.

Abstract

Diarrheal disease remains one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality, particularly among children under five years of age. In this study, there were 80 reported cases of diarrhea within the working area of Lhok Bengkuang Public Health Center. However, diarrhea in toddlers can be prevented through adequate maternal knowledge and positive attitudes in managing the condition. This study aimed to determine and analyze the relationship between maternal knowledge and attitudes and the incidence of diarrhea in children under five in the Lhok Bengkuang Health Center area, South Aceh Regency. This research employed a descriptive quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach to examine the relationship between variables at a single point in time. The total sample consisted of 50 mothers of under-five children who sought treatment at the health center. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test to assess the relationship between the two variables. The results showed a statistically significant relationship, with p-values < 0.001 and = 0.001, both less than 0.05, between maternal knowledge and attitudes and the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers. It can be concluded that maternal knowledge and attitudes have a strong association with diarrhea prevention in children under five. Based on these findings, it is recommended to provide practical training for mothers on diarrhea prevention measures and to conduct educational activities aimed at enhancing collective awareness.

Abstract

Repetitive motions, poor posture, and overuse injuries may lead to musculoskeletal diseases (MSDs), which manifest as pain in the muscles, joints, and tendons. The physical demands, frequent motions, and reliance on hand tools put palm oil harvesters at a higher risk of developing MSDs than other types of workers. The purpose of this research was to identify causes of work-related injuries (MSDs) reported by palm oil harvesters in North Sumatra's PTPN IV Regional I Sei Putih. The method used was quantitative and cross-sectional in nature. Using complete sampling, 34 participants were chosen for the survey. Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (NMQ) was used for data collection. The data were examined with the use of univariate and bivariate approaches, with a significance threshold of p < 0.05, utilizing the Chi-square and Fisher's Exact tests. Aging (p = 0.000), length of service (p = 0.001), and smoking behaviors (p = 0.002) were shown to be significantly associated with complaints of MSDs. The correlation between BMI and the outcome was not statistically significant (p = 0.704). There was a strong correlation between age and complaints of MSDs. Companies should prioritize the implementation of ergonomic programs and frequent health monitoring as preventative measures for MSDs, particularly for employees aged 35 and above who have been with the company for at least five years, according to these results. It is also important to improve health education on the dangers of smoking. To get stronger and more thorough findings, further study with a bigger sample and deeper analysis is needed.

Abstract

Cookies are a popular type of dry cake in Indonesia and are liked by various groups. Generally, cookies are made using wheat flour as the main ingredient, but black glutinous rice flour, which is rich in fibre and has health benefits, is chosen as an alternative substitute for wheat flour. This study aims to explore the effect of substituting black glutinous rice flour in cookies on organoleptic acceptance and nutritional content of the product. Objective: This study aims to identify the effect of substituting black glutinous rice flour on the organoleptic acceptance of cookies and to identify the effect of substituting black glutinous rice flour on the nutritional content of cookies.Method: This study uses an experimental method with a Completely Randomised Design (CRD). Organoleptic tests were conducted to assess parameters of colour, aroma, taste, crunchiness, and texture by using the Kruskal-Wallis test. Analysis of nutritional content using the anova test was carried out to measure the levels of water, ash, fat, protein, and carbohydrates in cookie products that use black glutinous rice flour as a substitute. Results: The results showed that there was a significant effect of adding black glutinous rice flour on the parameters of colour, aroma, taste, and crunchiness (P<0.05). However, there was no significant effect on the texture parameter (P>0.05). The nutritional content analysis showed that the water content of cookies varied, with the lowest value in P2 (4.98%), which almost reached the SNI standard limit (maximum 5%). Ash content increased with the increase in substitution of black glutinous rice flour, reaching the highest value in P4 (2.36%), which exceeded the SNI standard limit (maximum 1.8%). Fat content also increased, although it remained within the limits allowed by SNI (maximum 35%). Protein content slightly decreased in P2 (8.09%) compared to P1 (8.18%), showing no significant increase. Meanwhile, carbohydrate content decreased with the increase in substitution of black glutinous rice flour, with a significant difference between P1 (60.66%) and P2 (59.63%). Conclusion: Substitution of black glutinous rice flour in cookie production can improve organoleptic acceptance and nutritional content of the product, especially in terms of colour, taste, aroma, and crunchiness. The addition of black glutinous rice flour also affects the levels of water, ash, fat, protein, and carbohydrates, with the potential to increase the nutritional value and health benefits of the product.

Abstract

The Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) is commonly used to assess the severity of head trauma; however, it is not sufficiently accurate for predicting midline shift (MLS) without imaging support. This study aims to analyze the sensitivity and specificity of GCS in predicting MLS in patients with acute SDH. Subjects were patients diagnosed with acute traumatic SDH who underwent non-contrast head CT scans. Data were collected to assess the correlation between GCS scores and MLS values and to determine the GCS cut-off point for predicting MLS. Among 34 patients, the majority were male (76.5%) and aged between 18–34 years (35.3%). Most patients had a GCS score of 9–13 (38.2%) and showed subarachnoid hemorrhage on CT scan (44.1%). A strong correlation was found between lower GCS scores and increased MLS. The mean MLS increased significantly with decreasing levels of consciousness. The GCS cut-off score to differentiate significant MLS was 13, with a sensitivity of 100%, specificity of 79.3%, positive predictive value of 87%, and negative predictive value of 85%. GCS has a strong correlation with MLS and can be used as a reliable clinical indicator to predict MLS in patients with acute traumatic SDH.
