Abstract

Background:Exclusive breastfeeding refers to giving only breast milk without additional fluids, including water, during the period of 0-6 months (Siahaan, 2021). The benefits of exclusive breastfeeding for newborns are very important as a preventive measure against infectious diseases, malnutrition, and death in infants and toddlers (Sabriana et al., 2022). One of the factors that impacts the behavior of exclusive breastfeeding is insight, which can trigger someone to give exclusive breastfeeding to their child. One of the methods applied is lactation preparation counseling for pregnant women to gain deeper insight into the emotional and physiological aspects of breastfeeding and to learn practical strategies and techniques in overcoming common challenges. Objective: To determine whether there is a relationship between lactation counseling and increasing maternal insight into exclusive breastfeeding, in order to provide better insight into the importance of support in breastfeeding and encourage optimal breastfeeding practices at the Hadijah Inpatient Pratama Clinic. Method: This research uses a quantitative research type with a pre-experimental research framework with a one group pre-test-post-test design method. The population includes all pregnant women in the third trimester, totaling 45 people. The sampling technique used Non Probability Sampling with Purposive Sampling type. Results: From the results of the Wilcoxon test, the P score was obtained with a value of 0.00 which means p <0.05 so that it was concluded that Ho was rejected Ha was approved which means there is an impact of lactation counseling on increasing maternal insight regarding exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Complaints Low Back Pain generally occur in workers due to work postures that are not ergonomic. Work posture is the position of a worker in carrying out an activity, one important aspect that influences the analysis of work effectiveness is how workers position their bodies.. This study aim to see if there was a relationship between work postures applied by workers and complaints of low back pain experienced by workers. This research method was a quantitative with a cross-sectional design approach, which was used to see the relationship between the independent variables (age, gender, work mass, education level and work posture) and the dependent variable (complaints of low back pain). The sample was taken by total sampling, involving 55 workers at PT Prima Cahaya Utama. Data analysis included univariate, and bivariate analysis, using the chi-square test. The results of the analysis showed that age (p-value 0.789), gender (p-value 1.000), working mass (p-value 1.000), education level (p-value 0.775) had no significant relationship with low back pain complaints. However, work posture (p-value 0.001) showed a significant relationship with complaints of low back pain. There is a relationship between work posture and complaints of low back pain, therefore companies need to pay attention to employee posture at work.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the concentrations of secondary metabolites in Carica papaya (papaya) leaves and their correlation with soil chemical properties in Aceh Besar. Purposive sampling was used to select papaya plant leaves from the Kajhu and Ie Seuum areas for this study. Soil samples were collected from where the papaya leaf samples were obtained. Utilization of the maceration technique for extracting papaya leaves and identifying secondary metabolite compounds via Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrophotometry (GCMS). The chromatogram results indicated that squalene and linolenic acid were the compounds with the highest percentages. At the same time, the soil samples were subsequently analyzed for N, P, K, C, pH, and temperature content. Subsequently, the acquired data were subjected to multiple regression analysis. The findings indicated that the squalene content was 3.2–3.35% in Kajhu and 10.4–10.5% in Ie Seum, whereas linolenic acid levels were 10.18–10.21% and 4.03–4.05%, respectively. The squalene content positively correlates with P, pH, and temperature, whereas linolenic acid correlates solely with the P elements. The chemical properties of the soil do not significantly influence the content of squalene and linolenic acid.

Abstract

Childhood obesity has emerged as a formidable public health challenge globally, with a marked surge in prevalence across urban populations of low- and middle-income countries, including India. Amidst the nutritional transition driven by urbanization, lifestyle shifts among children—especially increased consumption of energy-dense processed foods and reduced physical activity—warrant urgent epidemiological attention. This study aimed to longitudinally assess the impact of junk food consumption and lifestyle parameters on body mass index (BMI) and metabolic markers among school-going children aged 6–14 years in urban Srinagar, Kashmir. A prospective observational study was conducted over a 12-month period involving 100 randomly selected children from both government and private schools. Baseline and endline assessments included anthropometric measurements, structured dietary and lifestyle questionnaires, and biochemical evaluations (fasting glucose and serum cholesterol). Operational definitions adhered to CDC and WHO BMI percentile standards. Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, paired t-tests, and correlation/regression modeling to evaluate associations between lifestyle variables and changes in BMI. At baseline, 7% of participants were classified as overweight, with none obese; by endline, overweight prevalence increased to 8%, and obesity emerged in 2%. Significant correlations were observed between frequent junk food consumption and elevated BMI percentiles (p < 0.05), as well as moderate elevations in fasting glucose and cholesterol levels in children with high dietary risk profiles. Physical activity declined marginally over the study period, while screen time increased, though these were not independently predictive of BMI changes after adjustment. The findings underscore an insidious trend of early-life weight gain and metabolic shifts, largely attributable to unhealthy dietary practices entrenched in the urban lifestyle. Comparative analysis aligns with national and regional studies affirming junk food as a primary driver of pediatric adiposity. Socioeconomic and school-type differences revealed nuanced behavioral patterns, suggesting a need for stratified intervention models. The study delineates a clear trajectory of obesity risk among urban children in Srinagar, underscoring the urgent necessity of school-based preventive strategies, parental sensitization, and policy-level regulation of obesogenic exposures. Proactive, multisectoral interventions are imperative to arrest the burgeoning epidemic of childhood obesity and its downstream health consequences.

Abstract

This study undertakes an incisive psycho-sociological exploration into the deleterious ramifications of chronic unemployment and intergenerational familial burden on the mental health architecture of youth in the Kashmir Valley—an ecologically fragile region in northern India. Reconceptualizing youth distress as a systemic syndrome rather than a series of isolated psychopathologies, the research deploys a methodologically triangulated framework comprising structured psychological inventories (PHQ-9, GAD-7), socio-demographic profiling, and advanced multivariate techniques including principal component analysis, correlation mapping, and K-means clustering. Drawing from a rigorously sampled cohort of 158 individuals, the study demarcates a typology of vulnerability: from aspirationally disillusioned risk clusters to resigned psychosocial survivors. The statistical architecture reveals a potent interplay between aspirational collapse, familial coercive expectations, and neurocognitive disruptions manifesting in sleep disorder, digital overuse, and suicidal ideation—symptomatic of an existential entrapment endemic to this socio-political ecology. Regional and gendered fault lines further inflect the mental health topography, necessitating granular, culturally attuned interventions. The findings advocate a paradigmatic rupture from deficit-based models of youth pathology toward an epistemology rooted in structural trauma, narrative alienation, and symbolic dismemberment of the self. In its culmination, the paper posits a constellation of novel psycho-social interventions—ranging from narrative reframing protocols and dialogic family counseling to circadian rehabilitation and mobile micro-mentorship hubs—aimed at transmuting paralysis into praxis. By integrating empirical precision with phenomenological depth, this research not only foregrounds the affective economies of disenfranchised youth but also reclaims the analytic agency to reimagine mental health beyond the clinic, into the crucible of socio-political rupture and restorative transformation.

Abstract

Background: Renal size and volume play important roles in the diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of renal pathology, and are excellent predictors of renal function. Renal size is associated with somatic growth parameters such as height, weight, and age, which are related to body mass index and body surface area. Objective: The aim of this study is to determine renal volume in the adult population using ultrasound and to analyze factors affecting the renal volume in patients. Methods: This was a case-series study of 35 renal in adult patients aged from >19 to 59 years without renal pathology. Renal length, width, depth, mean volume, and cortical thickness were sonographically measured. Patient age, gender, weight, height, and body surface area were recorded. Results: The mean body weight, body height, and body surface area were 69.8 ± 18.6 kg, 159.7 ± 8.1 cm, and 1.7 ± 0.2 m2, respectively. There was a significant difference in mean renal volume between the right and left renal, with measurements of 107 ± 30,9 cm3 and 125,5 ± 27,8 cm3, respectively. The mean renal volume in male was 118,4 ± 37,2 cm3 and 137,2 ± 32,6 cm3 for the right and left sides, respectively, and was found to be larger than in females. Both renals had a mean cortical thickness of 1.3 ± 0.1 cm. There was a positive and significant correlation between renal volume and body surface area (r=0.805 for the right renal, and r=0.604 for the left renal) with p<0.001. Conclusions: Renal volume is positively and significantly correlated with body surface area. Body index, age, gender, and side should also be taken into consideration when reporting renal volume.

Abstract

Breast cancer is the type of cancer with the highest prevalence in women and is the leading cause of cancer death globally. Early detection is very important to determine the right management, one of which is through ultrasound examination (ultrasound) as a non-invasive imaging method. However, the validity of ultrasound results still needs to be studied through comparison with histopathological results as the gold standard of diagnosis. This study aims to analyze the suitability between the results of ultrasound examination and the results of histopathological readings in breast cancer patients at Prof. Dr. Chairuddin P. Lubis Hospital USU Medan. The study used a cross-sectional design of 48 patients who underwent ultrasound and histopathological examinations throughout 2023. The results showed that 29 patients were classified as having malignant tumors based on ultrasound, but only 26 were confirmed malignant through histopathology. The compatibility rate between the two methods was only 37.5%, and the Fisher Exact test showed no statistically significant compatibility (p < 0.01). These findings suggest that ultrasound examination has limitations in distinguishing benign and malignant lesions. Therefore, ultrasound results need to be confirmed by histopathological examination to avoid misdiagnosis and therapy. This study confirms the importance of a multimodal approach in breast cancer diagnosis.
