Abstract

Cropping patterning is an farming practice to obtain maximum production taking into account climatic conditions, soil and types of crops cultivated. This research, which was carried out in the Amahai Region, aimed to: (i) describe extreme climate events and (ii) determine the growing season and cropping patterns of food crops based on the length of the growing season available in the region. The analytical methods used consisted of: (i) determining extreme rainfall based on BMKG standards and ENSO History data, (ii) determining the planting season using the FAO method, and determining cropping patterns in conditions of extreme rainfall. The results showed that a very extreme El Nino event caused a decrease in rainfall in the Amahai region by 1,444 mm or 54% of its normal condition, on whereas a very extreme La Nina event caused an increase in rainfall by 1,528 mm or 60% of its normal condition. The growing season in the Amahai region under conditions of average (normal) and La Nina rainfall is throughout the year (12 months), and under conditions of extreme El Nino rainfall, the growing season lasts for 8 months and 26 days, 96 days shorter than normal conditions. In conditions of extreme El Nino rainfall, the cropping patterns that can be applied are sequential, monoculture, and polyculture/ intercropping.

Abstract

"Dusung" is a habitat with a variety of plant communities in the form of trees. bushes, and grass. Research aims to identify under growth in "Dusung" at different altitudes. The research was carried out in Dusung Hative Besar using the method of surveying weeds directly in the field. Vegetation analysis using the squared method by purposive sampling with sample plots measuring 1×1m. Sampling on nutmeg plantation areas is carried out in each area at various different heights, namely at altitudes of 0, 100, and 200 m asl. The results showed that the value of the community coefficient (C) obtained from the comparison between two communities, namely between 0 and 100 m asl, was 0%, while 0 and 200 m above sea level was3.17%. This shows that the lower plant communities at an altitude of 0 and 100 m above sea level and 0 and 200 m above sea level are different because of the value of C<70%. While the comparison between two communities altitudes of 100 and 200 asl has a C value of 72.48% means that the lower plant community between the two heights of the place being compared is the same or uniform (C >70%).

Abstract

The influence of global phenomena on Extreme rainfall in the Moluccas is El Nino and La Nina. This phenomenon is closely related to the reduction of rainfall and excess rainwater which has a systematic impact on the availability of groundwater and also on the production of food crops. This study aims to obtain data on the impact of El Nino and La Nina phenomena by calculating the availability of groundwater in Amahai district. The study used data on climatic elements from the Amahai Meteorological Station, then the data was processed using statistical calculations to obtain normal rainfall and the average distribution of precipitation in the growing season and planting time.

Abstract

An important pest that attacks long bean plants is the green ladybug (Nezara viridula L.). Green ladybug attacks cause the young pods to become empty and deflated, because the seeds do not form and the pods fall. Several field tests showed that yield loss by one adult N. Viridula per two plants caused pod damage by 49%. The aim of the study was to determine the color and height of the traps that were effective in trapping the green ladybug (Nezara viridula L.). The study was conducted in Taeno hamlet, Rumah Tiga Village, Teluk Ambon District from April to June 2022. The study used a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 2 treatments. The first treatment was a trap color consisting of 3 levels, namely red, yellow and green. The second treatment was the height of the trap which consisted of 3 levels, namely the height of the trap 1 m, 1.5 m, and 2 m above ground level. The results obtained information that the interaction between the red trap color and the 1.5 m trap height had a significant effect on the number of green ladybug populations trapped in the 1st to 4th observations. -3 is found in the use of yellow traps, while in the 4th observation the interaction between green traps with a trap height of 1.5 m.

Abstract

The aims of this study was to identify morphological characteristics, clay mineral composition and soil similarity index between two soil profiles at the IAIN campus. The results showed that soil color characteristics of soil layers of both soils are different. Both soil profiles have deep solums with loam to sandy loam texture distribution. The increasing of clay content in the B horizon of both soil profiles is still weak as indicated by the present of a Bw (kambik) horizon. Soil structure is a subangular blocky with fine to coarse sizes and weak to strong structural development. Soil consistency is slightly sticky to sticky. Cation exchange capacity is very low as indicated by low Ca dan Na, medium to high Mg and high Na soil exchangeable cations. The dominant clay mineral in both soil profiles is kaolonit, which is formed by unwell-consolidated weathering materials mixed with weathering-resistant quartz. The silt/clay ratio and CEC values shows similarity between layers between both profiles, however, the Ca/Mg ratio shows dissimilarity. The soil type in both soil profiles is district Kambisol (Typic distrudepts) categorized as a developed soil

Abstract

Coconut is one of the plantation crops that has experienced a decrease in production in the village of Suli, Central Maluku Regency. One of the causes of the reduction of coconut production in each planting area in Suli Village, Central Maluku Regency, is weeds. The drastic decline in coconut production from year to year in Suli village is due to weeds, so it is necessary to know the dominant weed species in the coconut plantation area in Suli village, Central Maluku Regency. The hypothesis put forward in this study is that weeds are prevalent in the coconut planting area. This study uses the "vegetation survey" method to collect data with field observations. In carrying out the vegetation analysis, the quadratic form was used with a sample plot measuring 1 m x 1 m on six coconut trees. For each coconut tree, three weed samples were taken under the coconut canopy, so a total of 18 weed samples were taken from under the coconut canopy. Qualitative and quantitative data were taken. The data needed in this study consists of primary data and secondary data. The dominant weed in the coconut plantation area in Suli Village, Central Maluku Regency, is the broadleaf weed Melastoma malabathricum L.

Abstract

The research aims was to know land condition of dusung sago around the river riparian area or at least 10 meters from the right and/or left of the riverbank. The method used was a survey with free survey observation distance approach. The observation was conducted intensively on sample area of dusung sago located around 10 meters from the riverbank. The result showed that the soils found in the research area are alluvial and regosol soils according to the National Soil Classification (2014), and their formation are influenced by very poor to poor hydrological condition as indicated by very shallow average groundwater at < 20 cm below ground level. The existence of sago plants in the Wai Poka riparian area is endangered by the expansion of settlements in the Poka area.
