Abstract

The research discusses some experiments to control the level of liquid inside a tank by using PID controllers which can be divided into four categories. The experiments describe the effect of P, I, and D element. It also discusses the best possible controller, which is a PI controller, for the liquid level tank system. The liquid level controlling is done by adjusting the voltage pump which will further regulate the flow rate of the fluid entering the inlet valve. The liquid that flows through the outlet valve is considered as the disturbance variable to the system. The liquid tank sensor needs to be calibrated prior to the experiments. Calibration can be done manually by using a digital multimeter or by using the computer sofware that is connected directly to the plant system. Set point and PID parameters are determined by the UniTrain and the computer interface. In these experiments, PI controller has the best result with a medium proportional gain (KP = 5) and a small integral gain (TN = 0.2).

Abstract

Proportional-Integral-Derivative ( PID) represents the popular controller which is frequently used in industry and instrumentation equipments. Although in simple design procedure, tuning of PID parameters ( Kp, KiAnd Kd) to get the optimal value is not easy and simple. Genetic Algorithm method with the Fuzzy Logic system is used to get the PID parameters with optimal performance result. Genetic Algorithm is a method that used to solve a problem of optimization based on selection and genetic evolution, while system of fuzzy logic is used to determine the geneticparameter like crossover probability and mutation. In this research, Genetic Algorithm with the Fuzzy Logic system is forming model of direct-current motor to get the parameters of PID controller based on value of mean square error ( MSE). This Examination yielded the stable response system with the value MSE gyrate 0.0027 until 0.0028 and steady state error gyrate 0.004 until 0.001.

Abstract

One way to recognize hand gestures is to use signal electromyography (EMG). The processed signal can use the time domain, frequency domain, or a mixture of the two domains. Meanwhile, the classification method that is widely used recently is the classification of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). This paper presents a comparison study between time domains with frequency domain for EMG signals using ANN classification. This comparison aims to find out a better method for controlling the hand robot. The time domain features are root mean square (RMS) of the signal, while the signal’s octave band becomes a feature of the frequency domain. The EMG signals were obtained from the subject with eight fingers gestures. The results of this classification are used to control the robot’s hand. The success of each method in recognizing hand movements was counted. In addition, the response speed of the robot in changing positions is measured. The results showed that features using the frequency domain had a higher percentage of success than another domain. But the speed and memory used then the system using signals in the time domain is better.

Abstract

The prototype of the electronic system aided personal computer for monitoring the condition of the electric power supply have been done. The principle for fabricating the prototype of the electronic system based on the mechanism of handshaking system between electronic systems and line port for a printer. Program embedded on a personal computer with certain specifications for the operation of the system. The prototype of the electronic system consists of 3 (three) main subsystems, namely the diver circuit, sensor circuit, and the circuit of electrical installations analogy. Measuring against the prototype performance is carried out on the port line for the printer, driver circuit, sensor circuit, and electrical installation analogy circuit. The path performance on the port line for the printer is focused on high or low logic on each port. Data port condition is used to process data transmission, while the status and control port conditions are used to process data reception. The performance of the control circuit is very much determined by inputting data from the user so that it is closely related to the data port. The performance of the sensor circuit is very much determined by the condition of the electrical installation analogy, so it is closely related to the status and control ports. The performance of the circuit of electrical installation analogy is marked by the presence of a voltage value, and if the voltage measured in the electrical installation is 220 volts AC, then it is as an installation marker inactive condition. Overall the system is capable of 8 remote monitoring points so that the condition of the electrical power supply through the electrical panel can be monitored at any time.

Abstract

The utilization of micro hydropower plant is intended for providing electricity at Alue Dua village in North Aceh. A problem associated with the implementation of the micro-hydropower plant in the village is that the water flowrate of the run-of-river is varied at 117 litres per second during the wet season and at 36 litres per second during the dry season. This variation affects the speed of the water turbine and the capacity of power generated by its generator. Therefore to stabilize the output power and voltage of the generator during the course of the year, this paper aims to regulate the intake water flowing into the water turbine by controlling the opening vent valve from 0% up to 100% and controlling the electrical load connected to the generator. The speed of the water turbine was measured using the tachometer. It was found that the generator can produce electricity at its rated power 40 kVA during the wet season by opening the valve at 100% and at 12 kVA with the opening valve at 30% during the dry season. Opening the vent valve at 100% during the dry season can drain the water within 12 minutes

Abstract

Development of a local area network (LAN) needs a network cable such as UTP twisted pair especially for connecting hardware like personal computer with CCTV. The connection should be on the basis of IP address which is connected with switch, and then the data eventually is sent to server. Generally, in the field, a hardware network has two main connection; first, connections to electricity for switching on the software by using an electricity cable which is suitable to the need of electrical capacity; second, connection to UTP twisted network for sending the data to the server. This process can be simplified by using network cable both for sending the data to server and for electrical pathway. Some pairs of network cable which are not used for sending data to server can be occupied to convey electrical wave to switch on and to operate the hardware. In order to use network cable for multiple purposes, it needs electrical configuration such as power of ethernet (PoE). The PoE is a system to utilize the UTP twisted pair cable to transmit unoccupied power for electrical pathway so that it can increase the efficiency of system.

Abstract

Zone dynamization is carried out in the Zone Routing Protocol to allow the adaptation of the routing protocol to VANET network conditions. Zone dynamization is accomplished by periodically updating the radius within a configured time period. The value of link stability from the factors that influence network conditions is used as a reference in the radius value’s renewal process. From the test and simulation results, speed is the most dominant factor in link stability composition. Comparison between ZRP and zone dynamics against traditional ZRP shows better performance than ZRP with zonal dynamics when measured from metric analysis of packet delivery ratio, delay, and routing overhead. The increase in ZRP performance can occur because the zoning dynamics carried out make ZRP more adaptive to network conditions so that it does not work too proactively or reactively.

Abstract

A solar module as a collector of sunlight that will be converted into electrical energy, so far only used for various applications of renewable energy technology. This research proposes and demonstrates the application of solar module as receiver of Visible Light  Communication System (VLC) as well as collecting energy at the same time. Using a solar module as a receiver causes the receiver does not require an external voltage source. This study tested the acoustic audio signal transmitted through the VLC system to be received by the solar module as a receiver. The results show that the transmitted audio signal has a signal change as a result of the magnitude/amplitude whose value changes with time. The change of voltage level over time causes the LED emission to have different light intensity. Maximum distance of the signal can be transmitted well at a distance of 120 cm at 656 mV voltage with a light intensity of environmental lighting test of 265 Lx. The maximum angle of the signal can be transmitted well at an angle of 20o at a voltage of 190 mV with a light intensity of the test environment light of 265 Lx. The change in voltage values is affected by the LED emission and the light intensity of the test environment light received by the solar module as a receiver. Testing indicates that the audio signal remains well transmitted even though the light energy received by the solar module is in maximum condition.

Abstract

The increasing number of customers and the need for reliable communication require the availability of coverage, sufficient capacity and good quality of mobile communications networks. New BTS implementation is required to cover a wider area with good network quality. However, it often requires high cost and long time to get permission from the government and local residents. Swap and Modernization Project is a project that swap the previous 3G equipment using BTS 3900 Huawei with Ericsson RBS 6000 and modernize the 2G RBS 2000 to RBS 6000 and then carry out parameter settings to optimize the network. In this paper, we report the results of mobile network performance after Swap and Modernization projects had been done in terms of the signal strength improvements, which are showed by Rx Level, RSCP and CDD Dump parameters. The study was conducted in PT XL Axiata Northern Areas of Central Java with D5 cluster as a sample. The results show improvement of Rx Level that increased by 89.93 %, and RSCP value increased by 58.36 %. The swap and modernization of the BTS and parameter settings are able to improve CDD Dump parameters. These improvements are able to expand the coverage area of cluster D5 sites.

Abstract

Students are a major part of the life cycle of a university. The number of students graduating from a university often has a small ratio when compared to the number of students obtained in the same academic year. This small student graduation rate can be caused by several aspects, such as the many student activities accompanied by economic aspects, as well as other aspects. This makes it mandatory for a university to have a model that can take into account whether the student can graduate on time or not. One of the main factors that determine the reputation of a university is student graduation on time. The higher the level of new students at a university, with the same ratio, there must also be students who graduate on time. An increase in the number of student data and academic data occurs if many students do not graduate on time from all registered students. So that it will affect the image and reputation of the university which can later threaten the accreditation value of the university. To overcome this, we need a model that can predict student graduation so that it can be used as policy making later. The purpose of this study is to propose the best classification model by comparing the highest level of accuracy of several classification algorithms including Naïve Bayes, Random Forest, Decision Tree, K-Nearest Neighbor (K-NN) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) to predict student graduation. In addition, the feature selection process is also used before the classification process to optimize the model. The use of feature selection in this model with the best features using 12 regular attribute features and 1 attribute as a label. It was found that the classification model using the Random Forest algorithm was chosen, with the highest accuracy value reaching 77.35% better than other algorithms.
