Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of ta‘ẓīm in the thought of Shaykh Az-Zarnuji as presented in Ta‘līm al-Muta‘allim and KH. Hasyim Asy‘ari in Adab al-‘Ālim wa al-Muta‘allim, as well as to examine its relevance in the context of contemporary education. This research is motivated by the growing ethical crisis in teacher–student relationships and the declining respect for knowledge in the digital era. Employing a qualitative library research approach, this study utilizes content analysis and comparative analysis of the two primary texts. The findings reveal that Az-Zarnuji conceptualizes ta‘ẓīm as a symbolic-sufistic form of reverence oriented toward the attainment of blessed knowledge (barakah), emphasizing a hierarchical relationship between student and teacher. In contrast, KH. Hasyim Asy‘ari develops this concept in a more systematic and operational manner by stressing spiritual purification, self-discipline, and structured ethical conduct. Comparatively, both scholars share a fundamental view of knowledge as a sacred entity that requires proper adab as an epistemological prerequisite, yet they differ in their modes of implementation. In the modern context, the concept of ta‘ẓīm remains highly relevant as an ethical framework for fostering academic integrity, digital ethics, and character formation. This study contributes to the discourse on Islamic educational epistemology by proposing an integrative model that combines spiritual values with professional discipline in contemporary educational practices

Abstract

The integration of halal literacy into science education is an effort to develop students’ understanding of the concept of halal through contextual learning. This study aims to describe the implementation of halal literacy integration through Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in science education at junior high schools. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with science teachers and students at a junior high school as the subjects. Data were collected through interviews and Student Worksheets (LKPD), then analyzed using the interactive analysis model developed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of halal literacy integration through Problem-Based Learning provides a contextual learning experience, enabling students to connect science concepts with the halal aspects of food products in the school environment. Based on the eight indicators of halal literacy, students were able to understand the concepts of halal and haram, identify product ingredients, relate halal concepts to daily life, and utilize information on packaging labels to analyze the halal status of products. However, students still need further support in analyzing food additives and production processes. Thus, the integration of halal literacy through Problem-Based Learning can serve as an alternative approach to science education to support the contextual development of students’ halal literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct the concept of active patience in Ibn Kathir's interpretation of Q. al-Baqarah [2]:249, Q. Āli ‘Imrān [3]:120 and 125, and Q. al-Anfāl [8]:46 and 65–66, and then assess its conceptual relevance to Palestinian sumud during the post-7 October 2023 Gaza war. This qualitative library research employs exegete-centered thematic exegesis, using the Maktabah Dār al-Salām edition of Tafsīr al-Qur’ān al-‘Aẓīm as primary data and Palestine–Gaza literature, particularly publications from 2021–2026, as secondary data. The analysis involves contextual verification, extraction of meaning units, thematic coding, cross-verse synthesis, and critical comparison. The findings identify six dimensions of active patience: faith orientation and appraisal, self-control, spiritual obedience, directed action, group cohesion, and capacity-sensitive adaptation. The model shows that patience supports moral and coordinative readiness rather than functioning as a mechanical formula for victory. Active patience intersects with sumud in steadfastness, agency, religiosity, solidarity, and continuity of life, but the two are not identical. Their relevance is conceptual, not causal, and does not justify generalizing civilian data to armed actors.

Abstract

This article deals with the figure of the profet David in the ancient Islamic tradition, according to the Holy Qur'ān , the Hadith literature , and the profits tales. In the Holy Qur'ān , he is described with a wide variety of issues as a fighter with unique features to whom God awarded gifts . Whereas in the Hadith literature, he is perceived as a model for imitation regarding the prayers and the fast. However, in the profits tales , he is mostly seen as David with Batshevaʾ According to Islam, such deeds have some folkaric varieties for example, Arieh's crisis and his marriage are inappropriate for profits and consequently Islam doesn't accept the Biblical story and it accuses Jews and Christians of the disruption of Ketuvim.
