Abstract

BRICS has broadened its agenda beyond finance to cultivate soft power through coordinated cultural diplomacy. Examining official statements, press releases, and scholarly commentary on the bloc’s flagship film, sports, and ministerial initiatives, this article shows that cooperation is advancing from one-off spectacles toward structured, recurring institutions. Findings indicate two simultaneous dynamics: outwardly, BRICS venues amplify Global-South perspectives that diversify international cultural flows; inwardly, member states use the same platforms to signal national prestige, revealing persistent status competition. The result is an early but uneven cultural architecture—one that counters Euro-Atlantic narrative dominance yet has not crystallized into a fully coherent BRICS identity. The study argues that success will hinge on tighter media coordination and concrete, mutually beneficial projects capable of deepening collective resonance while balancing internal hierarchies.

Abstract

Franz Kafka is known for his twisted literature filled with dark atmosphere and word choices, however when it comes to writing letters to his muse, Milena, he uses words unknown to him. He expresses his barest soul to her using word choices that indicate someone who is amazed. For a person like Kafka, love is not all about complementing word choices and emotions, seen by his internal battles with himself and uncertainty regarding the topic of love. This research will use Geoffrey Leech’s semantic framework along with Monica Schwarz and Jeannette Chur’s Wortfeld theory. The study aims to examine Kafka’s use of intricate words to convey his love. The findings reveal that Kafka’s chosen word choices reflect how he views love and his unlucky experience of love. His word choices can be categorized into contrasting emotions and how his understanding of love is both a dream and a nightmare.

Abstract

Child bullying cases increased significantly following the pandemic and took its toll on the need for emergency tackling and preventive action. This research focused on philosophy as a an approach to character building, using the synthesis method of literature views which also inspired from previous teachings known as Philosophy for Children (P4C), combined with hands-on experiment simulation. The aim is to discover a practical learning concept to enable philosophy to be introduced in children's classrooms at a certain age. Researchers found the intersection between philosophy and child character building beneficial in refining their empathy cognitively and creating better generations in avoidance of abusive behavior as part of their day-to-day education. In the discussion, philosophy was introduced choosing the ideas of Jacques Derrida which are considered relevant. Reflective to his childhood, in which Derrida had experienced discrimination, the experience evolved in his breakthrough ideas of hermeneutics, using the deconstruction technique. The simulation experiment study shall revolve around Derrida’s Trace Theory and Différance, both a refreshing concept as learning materials. The result is a recommendation that philosophy worth being considered as an instrument of learning activity in Indonesia’s classroom, using simulation method that can invoke further curiosity in children’s critical thinking and character education.

Abstract

This article examines the concept of national identity as embodied by the Syuhada Mosque, located in Kotabaru, Yogyakarta. Completed in 1952, the mosque was established as a monument to the independence of the Republic of Indonesia. This research addresses whether Syuhada Mosque genuinely represents national identity. The study aims to describe the architectural form of Syuhada Mosque and elucidate the representations of national identity embedded within its structure. The research methodology aligns with the framework proposed by Sharer and Ashmore, encompassing formulation, implementation, data collection, data processing, analysis, interpretation, and publication. Based on its historical background, the foundational ideas and concepts of its founders, and its contextual relationship with the surrounding environment, Syuhada Mosque primarily functions as a mosque that symbolizes Indonesian independence and unity. Furthermore, the Syuhada Mosque inherently embodies Islamic and traditional values typical of a mosque while demonstrating an adaptive integration with its surrounding architectural landscape.
