Abstract

Food loss and waste have become a critical global concern, particularly in the context of ongoing hunger issues worldwide. It is estimated that nearly one-third of all food produced for human consumption is ultimately discarded. In Indonesia, food waste occurs across multiple sectors, with households contributing the largest share approximately 63.64%, or around 77 kg per capita annually. Sambas Regency, a coastal area in West Kalimantan, is also confronted with challenges related to waste disposal behavior and management systems. In Paloh District, the volume of waste entering coastal areas reaches approximately 963.60 tons per year, indicating a significant level. This study is essential as it seeks to examine socio-demographic characteristics and household behaviors related to food waste among coastal communities in Sambas Regency. Data were collected through surveys and structured questionnaire interviews involving 100 respondents in Paloh District. The analysis employed the Spearman rank correlation method. The findings reveal that socio-demographic variables such as education level, income, expenditure, and household size are associated with food waste behavior. Key drivers of food waste include excessive cooking practices, inadequate storage methods, poor meal planning, inaccurate estimation of food needs, and cultural practices during certain events that encourage food disposal behavior.

Abstract

This article aims to explain the conceptual differences between Civic Education and civic politics, outline the dimensions of citizenship, and trace the development of civic politics in Indonesia since the early 20th century. This article uses a literature study method with a conceptual-historical approach. The sources analyzed include classical and contemporary works on citizenship studies, citizenship theory, and historical studies of civic politics in Indonesia. The results of the study indicate that Civic Education is in the pedagogical realm as a process of forming civic knowledge, values, and skills, while civic politics is in the practical realm as citizens' actions in fighting for recognition, rights, representation, and justice in the public sphere. Citizenship itself is not only related to legal status, but also includes membership, rights, responsibilities, and participation. In the Indonesian context, civic politics develops through three main fields, namely the politics of recognition, the politics of welfare redistribution, and the politics of representation-democracy. Historically, this development can be traced from the national awakening in the early 20th century, continuing through the Old Order, New Order, and Reformation eras. This article emphasizes that the formation of critical citizens requires Citizenship Education that does not stop at the transfer of normative knowledge but moves towards strengthening political awareness and active civic engagement.

This condition emphasizes the importance of the role of the family, especially the attention of parents, as the first and main environment in shaping children's character. This study aims to determine the influence of parental attention on the formation of the character of elementary school students. In this study using a qualitative method, this qualitative research uses a literature study approach. The results of the study show that parental attention has a significant effect on the formation of the character of elementary school students, so that the role of the family is proven to be a dominant factor in building children's personality and morals from an early age.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze conceptually the relationship between freedom of expression in madrasah and the development of problem solving skills in elementary school children, as well as examining the design of creative tasks containing dakwah values to increase student learning interest. This qualitative literature study traces various scientific sources discussing creativity, freedom of expression, problem solving, and integration of Islamic values in primary education. Data were analyzed using content analysis method with reference to the thoughts of educational experts. The findings show that freedom of expression provides space for children to develop cognitive flexibility, courage to try, and resilience in facing difficulties which are the main capital for problem solving skills. A madrasah environment that supports expression creates a psychological safety that allows children to see problems from multiple perspectives. On the other hand, creative tasks designed according to the developmental stage of children and containing dakwah messages succeed in making religious learning relevant and enjoyable. Integration of Islamic values in drawing, storytelling, role playing and art projects increases students' intrinsic motivation to learn. This study implies the need for a paradigm shift in madrasah learning towards a student-centered approach and continuous training for teachers. Further empirical research is needed to test the effectiveness of this conceptual model.
