Abstract

Utilizing the local potential of part of the Artocarpus group, can be used as contextual teaching material in education by utilizing teaching materials in the form of brochures. Utilizing local potential-based learning with this brochure can improve student learning outcomes. The aim of this study is to explain the variation of Artocarpus (Artocarpus group) in Tanta Village, Tabalong Regency. Describe the validity and test the practicality of a brochure regarding Artocarpus variations (Artocarpus type) in Tanta Village, Tabalong Regency which was created as a source of learning material for the kingdom plantae sub-concept in high school. The approach used in this study is research & development using the Plomp model up to 5 phases, with restrictions on the implementation phase to distribution in experimental schools and the internet or website. Research findings identified 6 types and 3 varieties of Artocarpus, namely, Artocarpus heterophllyus (Jackfruit, Jackfruit Billulang, Jackfruit Porridge), Artocarpus atilitis (Breadfruit), Artocarpus elasticus (Terap), as well as Artocarpus integer (Cempedak), Artocarpus teysmanni (Water Cempedak), Artocarpus lanceifolius (keledang). The findings for making brochures based on the validity evaluation are said to be very strong with an average value of 3.7, the usability evaluation is classified as very effective with an average value of 91.15%. When a work is considered very valid and very effective, it can be used as an addition to the Biology learning process, especially on the topic of kingdom plantae in high school.

Abstract

The ethnopharmacological study aims to document and analyze the use of medicinal plants by the Dayak Bakumpai community in Bahalayung Village, Barito Kuala Regency. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation methods. Key informants include community leaders, traditional healers, and local users of medicinal plants. The findings reveal that the Dayak Bakumpai community utilizes a variety of local plants to treat ailments such as fever, wounds, digestive disorders, and skin diseases. A total of 15 medicinal plant species were identified as commonly used; however, knowledge about their medicinal applications remains limited. This knowledge is traditionally passed down orally across generations and is deeply rooted in the community's cultural practices. The presence of active compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, and tannins in several plants indicates significant pharmacological potential. This study underscores the importance of preserving traditional knowledge as a means of safeguarding biodiversity and cultural heritage. Additionally, further research is needed to scientifically validate the safety and efficacy of these medicinal plants, supporting the development of evidence-based traditional medicine.

Abstract

This research was conducted due to the students’ low learning competence in biology in class VII of SMPN 1 Bunguran Timur. The problem was caused by the students who were passive, had less curiosity, and were unable to correlate between theory and practice, and the limited learning sources available to direct the students to solve problems. On of the ways used to cope with this problem was by applying vee diagram in Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The purpose of this research was to reveal whether the biology learning competence of the students taught by using vee diagram in PBL model was higher than that of students taught by using PBL model. The quasi-experimental with Randomized Control Group Posttest Only Design and Factorial 2x2 is used in the research. The research were all of the students of class VII of SMPN 1 Bunguran Timur enrolled in the 2023/2024 Academic Year. The sample are taken y purposive sampling technique, VII8 class as an experimental class and VII6 class as an control class. Cognitive instrument using tested objective test as many as 35 items, while affective and psycjomotor instruments using observation sheet. The result showed that the implementation that the implementation of vee diagram in PBL on the pollution and environmental damage topics was more higher than that of students taught by using PBL model, whereas both of them (students with high and low early ability) had higher cognitive competence, and there is no interaction between learning model with early ability toward student learning competence.
